It is definitely worth it, Zas, to get back into working out (or to get into it for the first time!). It feels so good to have tangible rewards that aren't tied to the scale (e.g., being able to go from a PR (personal record) of 1 minute 15 seconds of straight running to a PR of 2 minutes straight! :) !). Thanks for the compliment on my menus, too! It has been very important to me to figure out some really tasty things that are also really easy, since I don't have a ton of time to fit in both exercise and cooking.

You have found that 'thing' to focus on instead of food, something you love to do and get excited about. You make me want that....... Hooray for you!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) You are having such a good time.
I feel that my 'beach' walk is a success in many ways, but I still obsess over food every day. I need a nice healthy obsession LOL

Lakegran, you just inspired me to do a new post on my blog about healthy obsessions! Thank you!
Today was great: 25 minutes on the bike (cross-train day)
B: 2 eggs with 2 cups spinach, 1 whole roasted tomatoes and 1 Morningstar Farms faux sausage patty
S: 2 T vanilla almond butter
L: large salad w/tuna and olive oil mayo, SF and FF mocha smoothie
S: 1/2 c oatmeal w/1/2 c FF milk
D: 2 brown rice sushi rolls
*Got hungry right before bed, so I had a cup of raisin bran cereal w/FF milk and 1 T of FF cool whip. Cool whip on cereal has always been a favorite of mine...

Hi Amalfi! Sounds like you are doing great and good for you for running! I used to run before I had kids. Now I do classes at the gym and definitely enjoy that better. I remember LOVING running when I used to do it regularly. Now my lungs can't handle it.

I'm watching the Biggest Loser finale. Ada looks amazing! They are all so inspiring. The next season looks crazy!

Keep up the great work and enjoy those new shoes.

Thanks so much, Lisa! I have the BL finale recorded and I am watching it in pieces. I still haven't seen who won the at home, but it's looking good for Adam. I was so thrilled that Ada was the one picked by the audience to stay in the top 3! She deserved it so much! I just love her.

I am really proud of myself for this morning's workout. 25 minutes of walk-3 min/Run-2 min and 15 sec. In just one week, I've gone from 1:15 to 2:15 of straight running. The goal is to increase 15 seconds every workout, so by the end of this week I should be at 3 minutes. Yayyyy!

It's so cool to see how many people on here run. SO inspiring! :)

(Note--this morning's omelet was DELISH!):
B: 2 eggs, 2 cups fresh spinach, numerous roasted tomatoes w/garlic and oregano, sprinkle of LF parm (seriously, seriously tasty); NF latte
S: 2 T vanilla almond butter
L: grilled chicken sandwich w/mushrooms, onions, lettuce & tomato
S: SF /LF mocha smoothie
D: hummus w/pita (too much white bread, need to fix that ASAP), french onion soup w/ no crouton
Des. no pudge fudge w/NF cool whip

Just did some office yoga...:)
It feels so good to get some movement in the middle of the day. Especially yoga.

Woke up at 5:00 a.m. for absolutely no reason. I was just wide awake and could not get back to sleep. I may do yoga or the bike tonight, but if I am too tired, I will give myself a break. Tomorrow I move up to the 2:30 run interval, so I need to be rested!

B: cup chili; large skim latte
S: 1/4 c cookie batter oats (recipe will be on my blog tonight--SO GOOD! And SB friendly! :))
L: salad with 3 oz. grilled chicken, 1/2 slice cheese, broccoli rabe (yummmmm!)
S: 2 T vanilla almond butter with a touch more cookie batter oats
D: Shrimp with mixed veggies and 1 c of brown rice
Des.: Interesting cookie (with sunflower seeds and honey) from Cosi. Definitely not on plan.

LOL, doesn't everyone get up before dawn? To me the ".... for no reason" is preceeded by 3AM or 4AM. :( 5AM is standard, between feeding the dogs, horses, household chores etc (and my 45 minute commute) there's no way I could sleep later and still get to work remotely close to "on time". I love the summer when 5AM is daylight and I'm not waking up and going to sleep in the dark.

You see, Red, when you stop by and talk about the fact that you do more before my alarm goes off than I do all day, it kind of takes the wind out of my self-pity sails...

But I guess that is a good thing! :) Now I have absolutely no excuse to skip my evening cross-training workout. Motivation! Ain't this forum grand?? :) !!

LOL, I'm sorry. Darn me. If it's any help it actually made me chuckle when I saw your initial post. My daughters (20 & 22) say that we've spoiled them for sleeping in. At college they're able to easily sleep until 9 or 10AM .... come home and habit kicks in so that they find the home version of sleeping in is 7AM. Now they complain about their friends who aren't able to do anything until after noon. Gosh, we didn't mean to have that effect.

Must be the Maine air, or the fact that we should really be in a different time zone, so our 5:30 is more like 6:30 by the sun's rotation! I do like the fact that when my DH is in the shower at 5:45 and I'm making my coffee and booting up my computer, that Redkan and sometimes Lakegran have already posted!!

But, Amalfigirl, when you're just starting your evening, we're in bed reading at 8:30!! It's not more energy, believe me, it just peaks earlier

Oh Chris, how I would love to go to sleep in two hours at 8:30. A girl can dream, can't she?

Who knew Maine was a bunch of morning people? I guess the early northerner gets the lobster...

Actually, you may be able to get some of our lobster soon. A master marketer named Linda Bean (granddaughter of LL) is marketing lobster claws through Walmart. Just got a huge contract with them and is expanding her processing facility, employing a bunch of people who were put out of work recently. You may be tickled to know that she's in her 70's and never did anything like this before! Pretty cool.

On the personal downside ... this will mean increased demand and therefore increased price and therefore fewer last minute "I feel like having lobster today" for me. Ah well, all in a good cause but oh the sacrifices I make so my neighbor can feed his family. ;)

Seriously, I've had my fingers crossed that this would happen as it's a wonderfully unique Maine product that can't be reproduced anywhere else, captive market if you will. I'm very happy for the folks that will be working there as well as the related boon to the local economy. This is truly a good thing. :D
