Ooh liking sweat! It's weird- this summer, I've developed this insatiable affection for heat. I ask for the heater on me in yoga and I love love LOVE to practice poses outside in the hot sun and running too- in the heat of the day. Although, I only run 1.5 mile increments when it's really hot and break and drink water- don't want to be dangerous! I just seem to be freezing in air conditioning all the time. Ah well- interesting self development.

I got back from a FABULOUS trip to Chicago with a friend this weekend. We had a blast! and didn't eat too poorly at all! Too much alcohol, but for the most part, we did fine. AND not to mention, the 4 hours of cardio DANCING was wonderful and felt amazing!

Well, I'm off to get in about 3 miles this morning before class and then almost 3 hours of yoga this evening. I've got a crazy schedule today, but may check in later too.

Hope all had a wonderful wonderful weekend. Happy Monday! :D

B- WW bagel w/LF cream cheese
L- spinach salad- onion, mushroom, 1 hard boiled egg, 2 tsp FF rasp vinagrette
S- 100 cal popcorn
D- SB pancakes w/1/8C yogurt and SF syrup, 100 cal popcorn, 1 oz cheese
S- 1/2 C NSA vanilla ice cream

exercise: 3 mile run
weight: 137.2

3 hours of yoga :?: :!:  WOW!!! That is crazy! You are a crazy girl :!: Posted to you in the other thread about loving Chicago. I have such great memories of that city and a great time last June (fathers day weekend). I have to do it again!

Have a great week on the beach and enjoy all that sweating.

thanks, Lisa! You're pretty crazy (and inspirational!!) yourself with the Zumba..

135.2 again this morning! Yay! Back to the mini-goal! It's odd though- when I workout, I do gain a lb or two. Working out- other than running, that is. So, obviously since the connection is to strength training (even yoga!), it is muscle, but it still feels better to see lower numbers.. how ingrained my mentality is in society's conception of beauty.. sigh.

It is an amazing mental boost to have conquered that aggravating  plateau though!! Now, I've just got to keep truckin'! (forever.. ha!)

3 miles this morning and a short day at grad school, so hopefully, I'll do another 3 this afternoon before YOGA 5:30-7! We get our new bathroom floor today and new carpet in two spare rooms and a sunroom on Thursday, so we can finally FINALLY unpack half our things and set up the office and spare room! Crimony! Physical house clutter makes my soul feel cluttered.. I don't remember if I put this in here! I convinced my husband to move our bedroom into a smaller spare and make the large master my YOGA STUDIO!! So excited! there are also four big floor length mirrors in there (on closets), so it will be perfect for checking form..

Well it's getting to be close to 7 and it'll be HOT before I know it, so I'ma get out there! Happy happy, y'all! 8)

B- SB pancakes (flax seed, cottage cheese egg whites), coffee w/SF creamer
L- 6 'chkn' strips, 1/2C onion, 2 C mixed, frozen veggies, small WW bagel w/LF Laughing Cow cheese triangle
D- SB pancakes (oatmeal, yogurt, egg whites), SF Blackberry preserves, SF syrup, 1/2 C kimchee, 4 TBL salsa
S- popcorn (100 cal)

exercise: 3 mile run, 1.5 hours yoga
weight: 135.2

Not too much to report today- ran my 3 miles this morning.. slightly cooler day today- ONLY 85 by 7am.. ! I'm just a tad annoyed that I have to go to Beginner's Yoga tonight instead of Vinyasa 2 because of a dinner meeting. At least I get to go to one! I can't go to the morning nor the evening class tomorrow because of work.. Ah well. And my mom and niece are coming Friday night through Sunday night to visit us, but I think I may be rude and leave for an hour and a half Sat morning and an hour Sunday afternoon to go to yoga anyway..

Next week, I will be on a trip all week for a research project and will have to do my running and yoga without instruction and without my comfort zone.. I've mapped out a 2.8 mile route and a 5.87 mile running route and will bring weights or maybe just my resistance band and keep it together next week!! I have a 10K on the following Saturday that i need to keep training for.

Hope all is going great on the beach for everyone!! :D

B- SB pancakes- (flax seed (90 cals), 1/4 C FF cottage cheese (40), 1/2 C egg whites (60), SF syrup (30), 1/4 C cottage cheese on side (40)), coffee and SF creamer (100)
L- small salad- hardboiled egg, mushrooms, romaine, cucumbers, cauliflower, less than 1 TBL High Fat Ranch (all they had) (300 total?)
D- ?

exercise: 3 mile run, 75 min yoga

Well, it's working again today.. I don't know what the deal was! I'm accessing the boards like I have always done and I could not get to anything www.southbeach-diet-plan.com for a long time and every other webpage worked.. huh.

I am thinking a lot this early morning about honoring myself and my body, respecting what it tells me and asks of me in exchange for the powerfulness and brilliance it gives me in return.. Last night, my husband and I went to a local winery to hear a blues band and dance a little in the summer heat.. it was lovely- cooler than it has been, a real chill little winery, not very crowded. there's a little pond behind the stage we walked around and fed the huge, orange and white and silver fish. the sunset melts into the pond over the rows of grape trees..
we shared a bottle of white wine and I felt awesome (felt even more like dancin'! )

then as we're leaving, I'm coming down from my buzz and needed to go to the store before we went home.. at the store- and I'm sure due to my lowered inhibitions from the wine- I got a small carton of plain-flavored frozen yogurt (no attempt to be SB, that's just what I like). Anyway, at home, I ate it with some peanut butter and SF chocolate mixed in.. which isn't awful awful, but obviously 1/2 bottle of wine, pint of yogurt.. I'm over my daily allowance on anybody's count..! But I woke up 3 times last night with a stomach ache. I couldn't get back to sleep at one point for 2 hours.. just nasty and I was just really down on myself in the moment. I know I'm sugar-sensitive and that if I have wine, that I need to watch what else I have because the blood sugar drop from alcohol and then a spike from sugar or carbs.. no good. anyway, i'm over it i think and am just recommitting to honoring what I know and respect about my own body.

we have friends coming into town next weekend. we're taking them to a minor-league baseball game, kayaking, and to music of some sort - at another winery probably. I've already decided I won't drink and I'll still have a fabulous time! I'm not against drinking and I'm not saying I never will again, I just think I need to reconnect with what's important to me. Anyway, that's my update! Hope all is well for everyone! :P

Man that night with your husband sounded wonderful! Sorry to hear the ice cream gave you stomach problems! Don't you hate it when that happens?? It's happened to me too like last night. Went to see Sex in the City with some girlfriends and bought a small bag of NIBS and ate them ALL during the movie. Then kept waking up during the night feeling them sitting like a big rock in the bottom of my stomach!!! Why oh why do we do this?? LOL

Back to 134.4 this morning. Recovering from my digression.

I've been off on the exercise because I've been sick. Seems to throw me off and it's difficult to get back on track. However, I did run last night. I usually do 1.5 miles with each dog, but I wanted to try another route and I thought my german shepherd could handle it, but it was just too hot for her (we did about 2.8 miles in and out of direct sun). Very hot and humid out and I felt so so badly for taking her!! She's okay, of course, but we did stop and walk a bit and got her water immediately when we got home. I'm such a rambler.. Goodness. Anyway, I'm up and ready to run this morning and will probably do yoga at the studio tonight, but I've been jonesin' for some weightlifting and regular gym stuff ANd i still need to try ZUMBA. There's a class tonight at 6:30 I may try..

Have a fabulous Monday!

I DID try Zumba! Lots of fun! I'm also up to 5 miles/day or so running, so that feels absolutely wonderful and keeping up with yoga about 4 times/week. I'm considering registering for a half marathon in late August. I always love to have a new goal!

Eating has been good good good! Yoga truly helps me with mindful eating. I do everything a bit calmer and with more purpose- including eating. When I went to the rec to try the Zumba, I did a Core class beforehand and it was really funny- I've only been yoga-ing and running and a little strength training at home, but no classes for the last month or so and I was really startled by the instructor barking commands in the Core class.. just at the fast-paced movements and very different intensity than yoga.. it's all good, it's just interesting to notice my different reaction after such intense concentration on breath, movement, and fluidity for so many weeks.

Haven't really been posting my menus because I write them down in a notebook. I'm still on the pancake-kick. Been living vicariously through my husband's metabolism and making him peach cobler when the peaches were about to go bad and green curry- his favorite- yum! But I'm still on track (well, BACK on track after Saturday's fauxpau!) Have a great day, Beachers! 8)

I ran my 3.5ish miles this morning- 1.5 with my border collie and about 2 with my shepherd.. such good girls. The mornings I go to yoga instead of run, I feel so guilty because they charge the door- Yay! Is it time Mom?! and I just leave them.. :( I usually "have" to go with them in the evening then instead..

I'll head to yoga in an hour or so. It's the 'advanced' class tonight, so I'm excited for the challenge. Many classes, I'm the youngest and/or farthest along in my practice, but the real yogaheads come out for the advanced class! It's very inspiring- especially those that have been practicing for such a long time.

Anyway, little to report today really. Still losing and/or maintaining. I have a crew of friends/colleagues coming over to BBQ Friday night and then my best friend and husband coming for the weekend, so I may be tempted to drink probably more than anything.. sometimes, when I'm with people, I eat even less or more cautiously since I'm kind of on "high alert" for potential splurges. That probably sounds crazy. Lemme think through that one and try articulating it again another day..

Thinking of a new goal since I'm about to be at my final weight goal. Strongly considering a half marathon in late August... :? Kind of getting really excited about it.. :) Happy day, Folks! :)

Hey Sky, I'm so happy you tried Zumba and you like it. Sounds like you have an awesome and diverse exercise program going on. Good for you! I know for me that when I started doing Zumba last November, it has completely changed my body. It has cinched in my waist and take away the 'love handles' on the side. It's from all the twisting. Very cool! I wish I could do yoga more. I really enjoy it when I do it.

Have a great weekend with your friends and don't drink too much. 8)

whoa.. two pretty baaad days.. not so much in content, but portions although some content  ..
Scales up a bit, but it will recover! Hope everyone had a great fourth! Mine had ups and downs- the visiting friends were sorta downs.. my husband now can't stand my childhood 'best friend', nor her husband. I don't know how much I really like her anymore, to be honest. They're very different from us, but I just think that that's okay and it takes all kinds to make the world go round! but he was really kind of offended by their inconsideration and sexist comments her husband made to him when the men were alone together.. and how they're both on their cell phones alll the time to the point of true rudeness.. and i just told him- not everyone can be as great/deep/kind/awesome as WE are, Dear...

And anyway! Ups- Kayaking!! Oh. My. so so fun! So we rented tandem kayaks at a local lake and the guy pushing us off is like- "you know what they call tandem kayaks, dontcha? Divorce Boats. Have fun!' Well, we did! and there is NO divorce in our future! We were a rockin team! and we saw some blue herons and cool fish. We parked on a big rock and got out to swim which was super fun until a fish bit me and then one got my husband.. Ah! i was hoping my biceps and triceps would be a little sorer from the paddling, but I only feel it in my shoulders. Guess I'll have to run a lot today..

Have a great day, y'all! 8)

Howdy, Skydancer!!!!

Another doc student- fantastic! Being a doctoral student is likely one of the toughest things to explain to people: most think that it's just "more schoolin'" but don't realize that it is fulltime school + fulltime fellowship + fulltime research/ teaching! And all for free, or the low, low, low price of a raggedy fellowship! I jest- I love what I do. But it is hard to take when people roll their eyes and say something like, "Moreschool?" On a serious note, I have rarely had this much trouble keeping my weight managed. But enter hubby (w turbo- metabolism- must be in the water!) and stress-- and my poundage piled on. :( I am on this journey to feel and look better...but also to discover myself again!!!!! All of those epistemological frameworks had me questioning which way was up!!!! :|

I will buzz your journal regularly- are you "on" often? thanks for the vote of confidence and good luck on your journey too!! Looks like you are doing super.

Hi Skydancer,
Your posts can be so inspirational sometimes, especially when it comes to the exercise. I saw your recipe for the pancakes and those sound interesting. When I am ready for Phase 2 I will try them out.

hey all! I am going out in the field for the next two days, so will be MIA from the boards.. I'm packing baggies of frozen veggies and fake chicken strips, eggplant burgers for the grill, WW buns, and oatmeal. I don't suppose there will be anywhere to run. My team will be on barges all day testing water nutrient levels, I think.. I do more policy and economy studies, so this is a little out of my area..

The scale's back down to 134 today, recovering slowly.. yes, Mondays and Tuesdays.. and Wednesdays sometimes are great for that! Thanks, Lisa!

I'm on the boards fairly often, MsA. At least every other day if not, every. It's a great way to feel connected to others!

Is this your second week, Sheri? Yes, the P2 pancakes are great! I have them daily.

Well, I gotta get packed and I'm late, so happy week all! Good luck and I'll "talk" to ya when I'm back! :P
