Ironhaas, it's recommended you go on to P2 after 2 weeks of P1. Did you follow P1 exactly? How much weight do you have to lose? If you knocked out those yucky cravings during the 2 weeks of P1, I recommend you move slowly into P2. Start very slow and read through the P2 questions and answers area to get ready. Also start a journal topic for yourself and post your daily food intake and weekly weigh in progress. We can visit you there if you have questions. Good luck!

Totally scared. First week went from 152 to 148. Second week to 149 and now 2 days over phase 1 I'm at 150. Very depressed. It's messing w/ my head. I LOVE the diet and am very health conscious (running the 5/3rd 25K in GR this weekend). My Dr. said I really don't have to lose weight but said I could do SBD, my goal is 137 by June 25 (family wedding). Trying to get off Cymbalta and have my period this week -prob part of it but.... just feel sooooo down this morning.
Should I go to Phase 2 as planned or...
Please help!

yes. it's likely water weight anyway. you do not measure success in a week or two. If you are still eating according to SB principles 6-12 months from now, you will be more successful than you are today. It's a consistency and longevity based program. You simply do not have enough data points yet to draw any conclusions at all.

I stayed on phase 1 an extra week and did not lose a single pound. (Lost 11 in the first two weeks) I even missed a few lunches because I was out being busy and didn't get the chance. I never even had dessert because I cannot do sugar substitutes. I haven't had anything sweet in 3 weeks. The only thing that bothered me was no sugar at all in my ice tea. I heard that some people lost as much weight on phase 2 as on phase 1. I started phase 2 this morning. I had a slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter instead of the phase 1 breakfast. Yum!

Anyone with any significant amount of weight to lose will lose far MORE in P2 than in P1 if they stay with it to their ideal weight range. It just takes longer and you just have to be patient and consistent for as long as it takes. I lost 10 lbs in P1 and over 30 lbs in P2.

I am a newbie to SB. I started Phase 2 yesterday, after 2 weeks on Phase 1, and I will have to say, I did really well. It was hard for me sometimes, especially at work where we have parties (I'm a preschool teacher) and the goodies come in! I didn't "cheat" at all! I decided to add an apple a day. Well, today I also had a glass of red wine with dinner. Then, I opened a small box of Sees candy that a student had given me a week ago, and offered it to my boys. They had some and so did I...:( actually I had 3 pieces! That was my greatest fear, that I couldn't stop at one.....and I also was fearful of starting Phase 2.
I hope tomorrow I can be as wise as I have been for the last two weeks, and not "fall" again! Help! I don't want this to slow my loss (I have lost 10 lbs in Phase 1)

Red is totally right! This is a long term (for life) way of eating and you're not going to lose all the weight within a month. I've battled weight my entire life and SB has changed the way I eat as well as how I feel about food. It's not a coping mechanism anymore - exercise now is. I lost 9 1bs in P1 (2 weeks) then gained 2 1bs the first week of P2. It does not matter. I just kept doing P2 as I was told to do it - slow and gradual - and the weight eventually came off. Slowly but surely. I'm almost there.... life is good... SB is good.

5Boys - try to stay away from the candy. Don't set yourself up. Find SB friendly 'treats' that you can have instead. There are many.

If you guys don't have a journal, start one. I did when I started P2 and now have many friends who post to me in my journal and I post to them. That is where I post my menu and stay accountable. It's great!

Good luck everyone.

Your rate of loss will slow regardless of whether you move to P2 or stay in P1. As Beaching It says, it really doesn't matter in the long term scheme of things.

I'm just starting my 2nd week of Phase 1 and I lost 5lbs in thus far. I'm very nervous of starting Phase 2 next week...is it not a good idea to, maybe, extend Phase 1 another week? Do you think I would continue to lose weight at this rate?

you are correct that it's not that good an idea to stay in P1 and no, whether you stay in P1 or move to P2 you won't see the same rate of loss. you have in the first week. It's probably unlikely you will see the same rate in the 2nd week of P1 that you saw in the first week.

Well i will be starting sb after the first of the year, not because of the holidays but because thats when i get paid. So i will get to go shopping for the food allowed on phase 1. I am excited to start. All of you may wonder why then am I reading about going to phase 2, well because I'm nervous about starting altogether. I'm afraid of failing. I've lost weight before and gainned it back and I've lost inches and gainned them back but i'm ready for real change, life long change. Reading the posts and replies have given me hope.

That's the key to this program, staying on it. Any healthy eating program is useless if you treat it as a temporary "diet" to get you to some goal but then go back to your old ways. It has to be a lifestyle change. Your diet is what you eat on a daily basis over the long term, not something you do for a month and then wonder why you gain it all back when you start eating cheeseburgers and cookies again.
