A Woman of Many Hats

Postby purenavygirl » Thu Apr 01, 2010 12:28 pm

Today is my Friday! Yay! A four day work week at my normal job that consists of me actually having the day off! heh heh (I've been using vacation at work to go to Drill the past 2 months...)

Oh, and before I begin, I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend/Sunday.

I made it the gym today and did everything I wanted to. 30 minutes on the E-Beast on interval training. I actually sweat more than usual and was able to keep my HR where I wanted it. I'm thinking that I'll have to use that more often, versus the other programs. I also did the leg press (squat) machine and the other two leg machines. I did some ab/oblique work and stretched out. Boy, do I feel energized today!

DS and I are decorating Easter eggs tonight. I cooked 18 eggs last night, so we'll see how that goes. I'm hoping that the brown eggs color decent. I bought the neon kit with darker/bolder colors, and per the suggestion on the box, plan to add the vinegar for better color. I'm excited as this will the first year DS and I have done eggs together. My Mom and possibly my Dad are also coming over to visit and help with eggs. It should be a good night.

With that, today my replacement starts her move into my area and I should get going. I have some things to do before all the ruckus starts! *tee hee*

Love to all!

Hey Beth, your easter egg plans sound like fun. I'm just about to write out easter egg clues for my kids to go on a hunt around the house tomorrow. They are both reading well now so I thought that writing clues of where the eggs are hidden would be lots of fun.

I too have 4 days off and have lots of fun plans with my sister and her kids while our 2 husbands paint my DH's 'flip' house all weekend.

Have a great 4 days off and enjoy.

Hi Beth

Hope you had a fun Easter.

Wondering how you feel about training a replacement for your own job! .... When is deployment? How long will you be gone? Big steps, big changes....you got my deepest respect for what you are doing.

I am just returing beachward from my Canada trip, and TG, at least have one dress that looks good for the party, a worry off my head. Now I can try to keep dropping wt w some peace of mind.

Hey Beth! Hope you have a great Easter Day with your family. So fun spending it with the smaller kids and was able myself to enjoy that yesterday. How did DS enjoy egg painting with the GPs?

My gym wasn't open yesterday and just wasn't up to doing a workout at home so nothing for me just yet. Today, however, I will be going to and plan on getting on the E-Beast. I've been doing Hills in hopes it will help my gluts  It's been my intention to look up the Life Fitness machine to review what muscles are worked in certain programs. We'll see but happy you found balance for you on that thing.

Wishing you a marvelous Monday  8)

Hi Beth, been awhile since I stopped in to say HELLO! Sounds like life is very busy with lots of changes coming your way.

How did the brown eggs workout with the coloring? I'm sure the kids had fun with lots of giggles.

Have a lovely Beachy Week! 8)

Hi Everyone! I am here - sorry no updates over the past few days. It's been busy and I'm full force into training my replacement at work. As of yesterday, I do have the internet at home, so I'll be able to keep in touch until I leave.

I've been pretty beachy over the past few days, although my Monday weigh in put me at +5 lbs since last Monday. I'm thinking it's because I ate late on Sunday and had a lot of water weight from drinking a bunch of water before bed. Anyway, I've decided to officially change my weigh in day to Wednesday. It's in the middle of the week and should be more accurate because I eat on a more normal schedule.

I've been sticking to working out. I did WAtP and Yoga last Friday. Nothing over the weekend. I went to the gym on Monday and did 35 minutes on the E-Beast, arms and abs/obliques. Today, I did 25 minutes on the E-Beast at home and push ups and sit ups.

With that, I need to get going. I have the last Water Babies class with DS tonight, so I don't know if I'll update later tonight or wait until tomorrow.

Love you all!!!

Beth - did you say plus 5 (five) pounds in 1 week? There has to be something wrong with that. I changed my weekly weigh in day from Monday to Wednesday. Mentally it works better for me and it allows me to get back to 95% SB if I go a little 'off' on the weekend. Anyway, hope you enjoyed water babies with DS. I remember those special days.

Take care,

Beth,

I am sure it's mostly water retention. Get rid of as much salt as you can. Starches also retain water. It will go down, you exercise so much! See my recommendation to Jeff in his jrnl against "going off" during stress, not that you sound stressed out, it's just GOOD advise! ;-) I am sure you will agree if you find what I am referring to! :-)

A Woman of Many Hats

Postby purenavygirl » Wed Apr 07, 2010 3:09 am

Hi Ladies! I'm here... Late for me, but addicted to having the internet at my house now. heh heh It's been FOREVER since we've had the 'net at home. (Plus, I ordered myself my first laptop today. I'll be taking it with me on my deployment.)

Back tracking since I haven't really said much since Thursday morning. Easter egg coloring went quite well. DS really enjoyed himself and the colors turned out surprisingly good for brown eggs. They weren't the traditional pastel colors, but more modern deco colors. DS liked them nonetheless! (Lisa, how did your kiddos like the Easter clues? It may be in your journal, but I haven't gotten there yet...)

The Easter Bunny (DS Great Aunt) came for a visit at the extended family Easter party on Saturday. DS got a total kick out of that. I was really pretty Beachy for most of Saturday with the exception of the dinner: I had one dinner roll (looked at least partially WW), a small scoop of cheesy potatoes and a small piece of MIL's stawberry angelfood dessert. Everything else was within the SB standards and I got my veggies in!

On Sunday, my parents came over and hid DS's colored Easter eggs while we were at church. So, when we got home, he was so excited to see the Easter Bunny had come (including a nice stuffed basket full of goodies). We had steak, sweet potatoes, green beans and salads for dinner. I made this SB friendly Inside Out Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake for dessert. I did have two small-medium sized slices of it, but that was my only sweet stuff for the day. Later that night, I ate a piece of leftover sirloin steak that was probably the size of the palm of my hand and drank a ton of water.

Monday, I did weigh in at 158 lbs. Yes, up 5 lbs from last Monday. Ugh. However, I think it was a little artificial due to eating some stuff late and drinking a bunch of water late on Sunday. I don't do this often during the week, so this is why I am changing my weigh in to Wednesday. Just to level things off.

I can't remember all what I ate yesterday, but it was Beachy. I think I might have had around 5 mini robin eggs (malted milk balls). That would've been my only "cheat". I resisted the friendship bread that sat on my desk at work! :D

As my days wind down at work (last day is 4/14), I am sure my replacement will do a fine job. I had already been working with her for the past 3.5 years (she moved over from Marketing Communications to Product Marketing). I'm slowly getting nervous as my actual time ticks down. I am down to around 35 days until I actually leave (May 9).

Anyway, it's getting late and my head is starting to hurt. Time for bed! I did see all of your posts and I don't want to "ignore" them, but I'm already windy enough without addressing each of them right now! :P Thank you all for stopping by and I hope I've somewhat answered the questions that did pop up over the past 6 days!

Happy Hump Day Beth!! So happy to read DS had a blast for Easter. It's those moments that mean the most and create the best memories.

I can't imagine your anticipation of deployment day but know you will be fine and i'll be right here awaiting your speedy and safe return. I've put the date in my calendar so that I don't miss it as that would make me sad if I didn't say anything before you left. Happy, however, you ordered your laptop and can take it with you. Will you be able to take pics over there and send em' to us? That would be way cool 8) Does it have a webcam? Maybe we can keep in contact that way as I have one. I am ordering a new laptop too but it will still have a built in webcam. That has worked so well for us with our families out of state.

Back on the Beach...let's roll out 8) :D

A Woman of Many Hats

Postby purenavygirl » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:16 am

Whew! I just got back from a 1.5 mile jog with DS pacing me on his bike. He's a little slower than I would usually run; I did it in about 18 minutes. After we parked his bike in our driveway, we power walked for another 12 minutes or so, totalling approximately 30 minutes of "cardio" exercise. (I also did push ups before I started my run and stretched out afterwards.)

Why am I telling you this? Well, because I was tired and decided to sleep in this morning and not exercise. heh heh I needed the sleep and to top things off, I woke up with that headache I told you about last night. Ugh. Thankfully a cup of coffee and a few Excedrin knocked it out this morning.

Other than that, nothing too exciting is going on. Just another day in paradise!

Wanda - I'd love to keep in touch while I am away. My laptop does have a built in webcam. I also bought myself a little point and shoot digital camera and will be bringing that with me. I will definitely be sharing pictures with anyone that is interested. Also, I plan on sending out periodic email updates, so if you (or anyone reading!) would like me to add you to my distribution list, please PM me your email addy.

I weighed in this morning. Back down to 155 lbs. So, feeling a little better after my disgruntling 158 lbs on Monday. I'm leaving my sig as is - I want the inspiration! :) Plus, I have my official Navy weigh in next Thursday, so that's motivation to stay on track!!!

With that, I better get DS's evening routine started. G'Night! Love to all! xoxox

Morning Beth! Congrats on dropping those pounds. I'm happy to hear that your son had such a wonderful Easter. It is such an amazement to me to watch the way my own have changed, from having to have help hunting to I can do it myself!

I can believe that you ran the 1.5 in the time you did, I can't, but I can definitely see you doing it :D . What I can't believe is that your son rode his bike for it! We are walkers. A stroll for us is about 3 miles. When we go for a walk it is 5+. Both of my girls can keep pace walking, but neither one will ride a bike. They actually tell me their legs are tired after a couple of blocks!

You have my sincere respect and appreciation as you prepare to deploy. My sister was a Marine, she was injured and honorably discharged. I understand the level of physical demand as well as the emotional drain of leaving that it places on you and you family. So, thank you.
