phase 1 problems

Postby therock » Thu Feb 04, 2010 6:17 pm

I have been on phase 1 for about 2 weeks now and i have followed it very strictly. I lost 7 pounds in the first week, althouh four of them were gained in the days leading up to the first day of phase 2. I have been exercising and eating well, but i have not lost a pound (or an ounce for that matter) in the last 5 days. It's getting frustrating. any ideas? :?:

I answered pretty much the same question here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=98117

I would say pretty much the same thing again, so I thought I'd save myself some typing.

I agree with Kimboroni but please rememeber 1 pound of bricks is the same as 1 pound of feathers it's still one pound. So you may have lost fat pounds and now your turning muscle fat into muscle mass. Just a thought. Chris

Nope move on to P2. P2 is the real weight loss phase anyway. As to why there could be any number of reasons and we don't have enough info to respond. You could list height, weight, age, typical daily menu with specific quantities for both foods and beverages and your typical exercise and we might be able to provide some additional insights. There is also a link to an earlier topic on this question in Kimboroni's P1 FAQ topic and you could review that as well or the link she provided in the topic a few posts above your question.

I have also been in phase 1 for 1 week and 3 days. I have only lost 1 lb and that was today. How can you loose more weight in phase 2? I also exercise. I am afraid I will never loose weight. My plan is to just add 1 peice of fruit and one piece of whole wheat bread for the first week in phase 2.
I am 5'5 weighed 153 now 152 want to be under 140. Does everyone really think I should still move to phase2 in 4 days?

You lose more weight because you are basically in P2 for the rest of your life. (P3 doesn't look a whole lot different than P2 95% of the time.) Maybe you aren't eating enough to lose weight in P1, so moving to P2 would help you lose weight? And the transitioning advice in the P2 forum here recommends adding 1 starch or 1 fruit at first and then adding another of the opposite type in the second week. (Yes different than the book.) Also you might want to consider a non-flour based starch and add a grain in it's more whole format or a starchy veggie before you add in whole wheat breads or pastas or other whole grain flour based products. The GI of whole wheat breads and white breads is pretty minimal. You are better off eating whole grains much closer to their whole format than having them pulverized into a powder and then made into a bread.
