Hi everyone.......I went as a follow up to my second opinion doctor and she put me on Prilosec OTC until I get to see the GI specialist on the 18th...she seems to think its somthing with my stomach like a small ulcer....I had read this online also that certain ulcers can cause back pain on the left side where I am having mine...Well I've been taking it six days now and am feeling better...but then today I came to work and I sit all day at a desk and I am feeling a little discomfort in my back but none on my stomach area...so I will see how this day goes....

I weighed myself over the weekend and I am at 115...my goal this week is to try to stay as beachy as I can and try to get on the treadmill for a little while each day...lets see how that goes lol.....

Hey Friends,
ok, I am venting, venting, venting!!!! I worked my round bottom off this week, exercised every day, drank my water, didn't cheat, and I am down, um, 3/10 of a pound! I am so frustrated I could cry! Now I know in my head that this can happen, my fear is this is how it is going to be!!! I have never lost weight like anyone else, and I am just flipping out that this is not going to change! Alright, I think it is out of my system now. I know I cannot give in to irrational thinking and behavior, but it is so darn hard not to think that way! This week I will post my meals. Is it better to post them here, or in the journal section? I plan on trying some new recipes to keep it fresh. New day, new beginning, right??!! I did my workout this morning even though I did not want to :D

Chulita- I hope the medication wipes out that nasty ulcer! My DH is dealing with one right now on his colon, no fun! 115, what a lovely, lovely number!I'm right there with you on the treadmill

Maralian-Glad to see you are back on track!Yea you ! What is one meal you are having this week? I am out for new ideas!

Hey Jean,
I would recommend you use a diet journal. That will help you look at what you're eating and other people can weigh in (oops no pun intended :D ) and let you know what they think might be causing your problems. Also, today's weight could be due to eating a high sodium meal last night or several other things. Don't let one weigh in drag you down. It really is about the long haul. It's worth it though to evaluate what you've been eating and see if you can tweak some things. And- you lost so that is a good thing!
Have a great week!

I agree with what Jocie said ! Actually, it is pretty normal not to drop much in the 2nd week of PH 1...........so don't stress. Most of what we lose in PH1 is water anyway so once you jump head first into PH2 the real weight loss will begin.
It won't be fast.............it will take a little time for you to add in new foods and see how you react to them. Slow & steady wins the race......just keep telling yourself that the weight will eventually drop off. My "thing" was when I weighed. I would tell myself..."ok self, today I weigh 180 pounds.....but I will never weigh 180 pounds again !" and I just kept doing that....determined that the number I was seeing would NEVER appear on my scale again !
*
Speaking of scales..................I am up a pound.?????????? No rhyme or reason for it...I worked my butt off for the past 3 weeks.......ate beachy almost to the T,...more exercise than I normally did....and I gain????? I am thinking it is the lack of water...........that is the only area that I was a slacker. That is all going to change this week..........and I am back to being retired (like God meant me to be)
*
Queen....as far as journaling your food............it helped a bunch for me. If I had a really good week I could do an instant replay because my journal showed exactly what I ate. The input you will get from the other beachers is soooooooo helpful and motivating too. Sometimes I would almost feel embarrassed to write what I actually ate...............but nobody is perfect.....we are all going to mess up now and then.
*
Chulita.........I am glad you found something that might be working for you ! I have my fingers and toes crossed that you have found your cure. I can not even imagine weighing ONLY 114 pounds !! But, I also could not even imagine weighing in under 150 pounds, yet here I am.
*
Maralian............so glad you got rid of that crappy bug (no pun intended.........OK...yeah, I DID intend it as a pun ! ).........anyway....glad you are recovered !
*
I spent the day going through my mail and the bills...talk about depressing ! Time to get my house in order so that my life will also get back in order.
Hope you all have a beachy week....................and Liebly.......YOU GO GIRL.....Join that gym if it is what you want to do....it definately will make you feel better.
How are your toes doing?????????????????????????????????

Hi guys!
I went back and re-read alot of the FAQ for p2, and I do realize that the first few weeks are an adjustment period, restoring your glycogen adds weight, and it is a trial and error period. I need to focus on the journey, not just the goal line!

Joesuzzi-that is a great suggestion about never seeing those numbers again! I like the thought of that!

Teachermom-I think I will definitely journal my meals. Accountability is a big thing for me, plus I like the idea of input from others.

I made a homemade pizza crust tonight for my first carb return, I used spelt flour, and only ate 1 slice! Yea! I was worried I would not have self control, but I had a salad with it and was quite satisfied. Hopefully it will not set off any cravings.

Thanks again for your help, you all rock!

Hey guys,
Well, I'm up .5 this week. I'm not counting it though because I don't think it's really a gain. TOM is here and I'm having some bloating. We haven't been too active because we've been kind of housebound since Fri. night due to snow. I got some new tennis shoes last weekend and I'm dying to get out and use them. I really want to start exercising. I just hope I can get the energy up to do it!

Liebly- I think a gym at the workplace sounds awesome! I hope you will find a partner that will do it with you. That would be so convenient.

Queen- Boboli makes a 100% whole wheat pizza crust that is not bad if you want something easier than preparing your own.

Maralian- I'll take a loss anywhere I can get it!

Chulita- Have you been to a back specialist?

Kitty- wow, 3.5 is amazing! Did you get any snow?

Suzi- Congratulations on the recommencement of your retirement! Being at home the past 3 days makes me feel like I should be retired :D

We got lots of snow in Lincoln County,NC. Some roads are still full of snow or at least ice. DD had to scrap the snow/ice off the ramp so my wheelchair DH could safely go down it. The news said we got 10.5 inches sat/sun. My 2 kids have been out of school mon and tues because buses can't drive to secondary streets.

I was so surprised of the weight loss, I got off anf on several times to make sure..lol Now to keep it off.

Hey there friends,
It is great to see everybody is gettin' busy!(SB busy that is ! :) ) I did my treadmill this morning for 30 mins, burned 325 calories(yea!) and then I did a Fit at 50 strengthening DVD. It was challenging because I was already tired from the treadmill, but I am committing to core workout 3 times a week, plus my daily treadmill. Nobody was home after I finished, so I ran around my room hooting and hollering about how strong and sleek I will be one day! Highly amusing to me and the dog! I have decided to change my attitude completely about the evil lying scale. It is banished from my life for awhile. Numbers are the downfall of my motivation, and emotions. I am currently a size 14, so I want to buy a cute pair of 12's and try them from time to time. When they fit I will know I have lost weight. I also am going to reward myself with little fun things periodically just for staying beachy! New workout tops, DVD's, etc.

kittyfy-Sounds like you guys are banked in for awhile. Do you like to build snowmen? :D

teachermom-join my bandwagon to exercise daily and let's help keep each other accountable! I have soooooo much more energy then when I do not exercise! You know I heard Boboli makes ww, I just have not found it yet. Will keep searching, pizza was divine!

Suzi-Has it sunk in yet you are re-retired? I hope you do something wonderful just for you!

Maralian-Are you feeling better now?

Chulita-How is the back doing?

Have a glorious beachy day!!Love ya!

kids are on a 2 hour delay today (wed),but they ARE going to school. YEA!

I am going shopping for food today since food stamps are in now.

I had a salad for dinner yesterday but it didn't fill me for too long. So I had half can tomato soup/ww crackers for late night snack.I am going to buy snacks to eat after dinner but not too late, just enough to fill belly for bedtime.

Good morning all!
Made it through yesterday doin' the beach! So far the one ww carb has not set off any frenzies, I am looking forward to a piece of fruit next week! I am going to a friends' house today who is a notorious naughty carb eater, and always bakes fresh cookies at 3:00 like clockwork! I am going to eat a late breakfast, and take my own lunch with me. I will leave when she starts baking, since I have to pick up my boy anyway! We are waiting on a large check that is supposed to be delivered today(Thank You Lord!!!!!) so at least our mortgage co. will not foreclose on us!!! I can not even bear that thought! I am so glad I am exercising daily or I would be a starchy carb eatin', sugar devouring mess! Yea SB!!

teachermom-have you decided to join me yet in daily exercise? I hope so!

Chulita-Girl, I so feel your pain. My whole adult life has been built around back pain. I sure hope you do not need surgery, but if that is the case let me tell you I have never felt better, and stronger than I do right now!

kitty-So glad you have provisions to buy food! These are hard times for many of us, I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Suzzi-Are we having fun yet???

Enjoy your day, talk to you later, and above all, stay beachy!

Jean-
I meant to respond to that and didn't for some reason. I would like to commit to that but I'm afraid I won't live up to it :( But, I will agree to one day at a time. I will exercise today when I get home. Either a walk or some time on the gazelle. My daughter and I did go out for a walk yesterday afternoon in the freezing rain. She needed to get out of the house and it was her idea! So maybe I'll invite her today :D

If you'll post what exercise you do each day and ask me what I plan to do that might hold me accountable. My exercise will always be after school hours. I am definitely not one to get up before dawn and go for a run!

Thanks!

I think it is GREAT that you two are going to buddy up on the exercise thing. What ever it takes to get moving.
Jocie...I have a gazelle too. The first month I started the beach last January I would gazelle myself away while watching TV. I made a deal with myself.....I could only watch TV if I was on the gazelle. It is also kind of fun to shee how far back you can lean while moving on it !
*
Guess I made the wrong impression.........Hubby & I have been retired for 8 years !
My working stint at the thrift store was only to help out a dear friend during the final 2 weeks of liquidation. I really did enjoy myself but did not have time for much else.
Our "normal" retired life is renovating old run down houses and taking care of our rental properties. Hubby and I have gotten to the point that we can do an entire house without having to use any outside services........so we take our time and really enjoy the work that we do. Plus it gives me a good excuse to find treasures on Craigslist and save money at the same time.
*
WHERE IS LIEBLY????????????????????????????????????????????? Margot.........YOO HOO ??
Sure hope things are going OK for her.
*
Kitty...............You should be feeling pretty proud, huh? 3.5 pounds is wonderful !
I know losing is tough for you because of your medications........but girl, you must be doing something right ! :D
I know that I always try not to eat anything after 6 p.m.....it seemed to make a difference in the weight loss department. Keep it up !
Chulita.............I marked my calender for your appointment on the 18th. You are in my prayers girl. Is the pain letting up at all? Don't worry about exercise until you find out what is wrong with you.......don't take a chance on making something worse, OK ? I know how horrible it is to feel the way you are feeling....but eventually they will find out what is causing the pain...............just know that it WILL get better...it just takes time.
((((((((((((((((((((((((((huggs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) (doesn't a mothers hug fix everything?)
Queen-Jean..........I laughed when you were telling about running around the house hooting about how sleek & strong you are going to be ! You have the right attitude ! Do it every day....and definately buy those size 12 jeans and try them on often !
Another trick I did was to tape a picture of myself (the fattest ugliest picture I could find) to the refrigerator.............so when I would go looking for something to eat.........it only took one glance to remind myself that I was NEVER going to look like that again ! Ya gotta do whatever works for you.
*
I made a batch of cauliflower soup the other day too. I added 1/4 loaf od 2% velvetta, a can of healthy request cream of mushroom soup, a bunch of mushrooms and a jar of FF turkey gravy (?)...not sure why I added the gravy...probably because there was nothing else I could use the gravy for and I was tired of looking at it ! Anyway...it was delicious......hubby wants me to make it again and even the little guy loved it (course I did not tell him that there was cauliflower in it ! LOL
*
OK....I better go get my dishes done............hope you all have a beachy week..........and I am still holding at 147.......Grrrrr............and NO...I am NOT moving my ticker ! I vowed NEVER to move it backwards....so it will sit where it is until I lose this bonus pound

Queenjean---I can relateto you about not losing weight like everyone else. I lose it so slow but gain it so fast!! I exercise my butt off and I am lucky to see a pound a week go away. But if I eat anything close to what normal people eat, I gain a couple pounds back overnight. It is so frustrating. But I am determined just like you are to get it off eventually. I know my problem is not staying truly beachy everyday. I cheat freqently and do not eat my vegtables like I should everyday. I try to limit carbs and stay away form sweets but the sweets are my downfall. One thing I have found helpful is sugar-free popsickles . I eat them at night to keep from putting other things in my mouth. They only have 10 calories. I really need to consult the book and get back on track with what I need to be eating. the califlower sounp sounds good and I plan on making some this weekend. Thanks for the recipe liebly and Susie. Any other interesting recipes out there??
