Great decision to continue!
Dumplings should not be THAT bad, the ratio of meat to dough is usually pretty good. Dumplings used to be one of my "protein" staples in the fridge. And it was fresh! And you went out instead of cooking all your veggies for the whole family! I would declare this Friday a success :)

Thanks Ellena for stopping by. oh ya, since I have quit full time, I feel like I am always home cooking or cleaning, which is not really true considering hubby is an awesome cook and a great helper.

So this was Saturday

Morning had to run to take my son for taekwondoo test, so

BK: coffee with 1%milk
no time for real bk
Snack: cheese stick
Lunch: lentils/bit of cottage cheese with veges
a few bites of wheat dosa (kinda like thin crepe) and a dumpling - skipping breakfast was not such a great idea I think
NO snack, was cleaning and had guests over and went out, it poured like hell, didn't get home untill late
vada (made with lentils) and bit of beans (I don't eat meat on Saturdays and Tuesdays)
dessert - home made kulfi (small popsicle kind/ made with milk/sugar and some other yummy mix). Luckily I don't have a popsicle mold, so hubby made in ice cube tray and I just had one cube, but was sooo yummy)- oh my guilt treat for the day!

Sunday:

Bk: coffee with 1% milk
S: Rusk (kinda like a lightly sweetened dry biscuit/ pretty low fat low cal)
L: small black chick peas/ with meat/some tuna - not really much of veges, cooked a whole for the family and they had with rice and I didn't have the patience to cook another vegie for me.

May be lot of vegie stir fry for dinner may be. From tomorrow atleast want to to no carbs for one week, I don't think it's going be hard. I am easing in to this.

hey Saritha,

I really enjoy your descriptions of traditional foods (rusk, kulfi, etc). I go to an Indian store every Sat to get some yogurt, buttermilk & cheap veggies and grocery staples like beans, ghee, besan and of course spices, so thanks for the explanations! I try to get something new every time, last time it was curry leaves, this time I was on the lookout for the tamarind paste, saw lots of tamarind things but was not sure if any of those was the paste

Hope the rest of your Sun went well!

Ok, Ellena, you coming here and reading my posts, really makes my day and I want to keep up with this. Today only I officially start Phase 1, I can see my cravings gotten much better. But Sunday was not soo good. I can definitely help you shopping at indian stores, please feel free post me any questions you want.

Here is the link to the picture of tamarind paste box I found online. This is the one I get, it's pretty potent, little bit goes a long way

Ok rest of Sunday was not soooo good at all, hubby left for work out of town and will not be back until Saturday miss him sooo much :(

Snack: kids had some cheetos, so had like 5-6 of them
had a small drink with sf margarita mix (Oh I found these in target, it's the on the borders mix, sooo yummy), we were out of tequilla, so had with tiny bit of gin.

Put the kids to bed, dinner was left over fried rice- oh soo not soo good for me. But I start phase 1 today and I am not planning on eating any rice the next couple of months, let's see. I have to get this done this year.

Hi ssaritha!! Fun reading your journal. I started the SB back in 05' kept off the 30+lbs but gained 20 back over the past 2 yrs. It looks like you are halfway to you goal weight but also like you struggle a bit from week to week. I'm sure once you are focused and are able to plan out meals a little more, things will turn around for you.

I'll be checking in on you to see your progress that I know you'll be achieving  Best wishes in the upcoming days of being SB friendly with ease :!: :!:

So I did not start P1 yesterday, it was a pretty long day and didn't really get home to cook any protein, but still want to journal even though I am ashamed of

Coffee wtih 1% milk
Late BK: 1egg/1 egg white/ bit of lentils, I was still hungry, so had bit more beans/minced meat
S: Diet coke
S: Steamed dumplings
DInner: Pizza - not very good choice

Today will be day 1 of Phase 1 and will come back and post everything.
Yesterday was a bad day was running around all day, and one of cars broke down and my hubby's cousin was stuck, so I had taken the kids out to go shopping, then ended up waiting with him for an hour just get that car towed, then came home spent two hours trying to finish statement of purpose for his Ph.D application. That's how no cooking and ended up with pizza, this is a lesson to plan ahead :P

Thanks Ellena for asking, this one of our oldest car, a 98 civic and has come so long for us and we used it a lot. We would just dispose it, except my hubby's cousin lives with us, he did his masters in Washington D.C and looking for a job, so we need that car for him. Except it will take 500 some dollars to fix it now, so I don't think we are fixing it right now. He is applying for doing Ph.D. next sem, so I really don't know how life is going to work out for us. Oh, I miss just being the four of us. His parents visited us for 6 months and left only this May, I really don't know when they are coming back. Oh all the fun of a family :|

Yesterday food wise was ok, but emotionally it was a bad day. I had some family issues not btw hubby and me, but other external frkin factors. At the end of the day I was soo emotionally drained, if it was any other day I would have just eaten whatever, but I stuck to it.

S: tea with bit of milk, 4 cashews
Dinner: Made cauliflower with onions/tomatoes with bit of spices and cup of cooked lentils.

Dinner: small slice chicken pizza, ton of water. Hopefully from Monday I can get back on track, I am travelling Friday and have ton of stuff to finish up today, but will still keep working on this.
