Back Again...Anyone need a weight loss buddy??

Postby nowherebutdown » Mon May 04, 2009 11:42 pm

I have been down this road so many times and am fed up with it. I think back to when I was close to my goal weight and wonder how I ever let myself get back to this. After a break up and going from a job where I was always moving to an office position, the pounds just kept adding up. I've been trying for the past year to change the direction my life has been going in. Everything is working out well (slowly but surely) except my number one problem; my weight.

In September, I will be returning to college two years after I graduated my last program. I didn't really try back then and I didn't go out and and enjoy college life as most of my peers did. I regret not going out more and meeting new people. I hid myself as much as I could because I was overweight and I believed I was worthless. This time around I have choosen a school 2.5 hours away from home where I can get away from my title of the 'chubby girl' and start fresh.

So, here I am. 212lbs. My goal is to be 150lbs eventually. But I'm just hoping to lose about 30-40lbs before school starts. Here are the most recent pictures of me:

This is the only side view I kept. I assure you I didn't eat any of those chips! haha.

If anyone is around my age, size, or has a similar goal, I would love a weight loss buddy :)

Hey I am a grad student who is trying to get back to what I looked like before I went to college:-P College=stress=food. Thats my problem summed up. I have been journaling but I thought maybe partnering up would be a great idea to stick with this. I am nearing the end of my phase 1 but I am extending it because I wasnt eating at the right times...like the six meals I was only eat three :-P ANYWAY I started weighing about 165 and have been scared to step on a scale. (im about 5'7) So if you still want to partner up we def. can and maybe push each other to be more active :)

*Good Luck*

I'm about the same weight as you are, but I'm probably at least 10 years older than you. I'm 34 and have had 4 children and 210 on me looks horrible! You, on the other hand, look great! I know 212 isn't probably a healthy weight for anyone but I wanted you to know you look awesome even if you don't think so.

I agree with KathyinAL. You really are a beautiful girl!!

I'm almost in your same situation. I had lost the weight back in 2007 then eventually I piled it back on. Now I'm starting my masters degree and possibly will be changing jobs in summer, so I want to tackle the only problem that has always kept me one step backwards from the others : weight. Sometimes I wonder, without bragging, how come I can be so successful in certain areas of my life, such as career wise and education wise, but then I never managed to control and stabilize my weight. Well that's why I'm back here. Been on phase one for 9 days so far and lost 10kgs (yeah, guys do lose it quicker lol).

I know what you mean about missing out on social events in college. When I was in University, I remember my first year was horrible. I didn't know anyone and I didn't even bother to get to know anyone. Who would be interested in getting to know a guy weighing 340lbs? I'm sure that by September you will be sooo much closer to your goal and all guys at college will be turning their heads to check you out :-)

wait me too!!

I am 25.. turning 26 June 22nd and would love to lose at least 15 if not 20 lbs. by then!! I have been doing WW for almost 7 weeks, and lost nearly 10 but have been slacking the last week and gained at least 2lbs back, I need a serious wake up and I know that my body holds on to carbs as fat more than most people.

I love working out and am going to get back into my routine starting today, tomorrow May 7th I am going to officially start SBD. Tonight I am going to prepare my salads with grilled chicken breast for tomorrow.

A couple of years ago I lost about 20lbs in a month eating a self made diet of salad and grilled chicken, so I am going to give SBD a go because I know it will work!!! I would love to have some buddies on this journey!!!

current weight 200....
goal by June 22nd... 180
goal.... 150

Hi, I started phase 1 on Monday 5/4 and as of this morning I am down 8 lbs. I am very surprised because I did not think I would lose weight so quickly. The first two days were hard but I am back in the gym now and I have noticed that I sweat a lot more (has anyone else noticed that?). I would like to drop a total of 20 lbs by June 20th but will not over do it because I don't want to gain the weight back.

Background: My weight has fluctuated my whole life my heaviest has been 187 and my lowest has been 130. I am 5'4" so 187 is very hard for me to carry. Last year when I stepped on the scale I was devastated because I promised myself I would never get back to that weight again. I was down to 149 and then met a guy and...ugh let myself go! From June to September I went from 187 to 157 and then hit a plateau. I decided to do SB to break this and so far it has done that for me. I realize I have dropped 8 lbs however, I believe a lot of it is water weight but my body does look leaner. I hold most of my weight in my lower half so once my legs begin to look leaner I know I am really losing weight LOL.

Here is a pic that shows the difference of my weight loss.

The lower pic is what I look like now (but with shorter darker hair). I supplied my FB link so please feel free to contact me. I love this forum thaks for starting it!

hey, tikikat! we are so similar!

i put on a lot of weight when i met a guy...then even more after we broke up. and i carry it mostly in my lower body as well.

i'm happy it's going so well for you! and don't freak out if you go up a few pounds now and then, im in my 4th week and i'm using a tracker graph at http://www.tickerfactory.com/weight-loss/wmSzIrY/ -- i weigh myself everyday and post it, it helps to keep me on track, and even though the graph goes up and down a bit, i can definitely see a net downward trend. if you lose a lot of weight quickly and are active, the variations with fat/muscle/water will be all over the place sometimes. anyways, i recommend the graph method because it helps you to see the general direction you're heading.

best of luck! to everyone else too :)
