Dieting In Dallas

Postby DallasBrownBombshell » Wed Apr 29, 2009 8:27 am

Hello everyone !!!

I am so happy to have found this forum, you just don't know. I was on the SBD years back and had tremendous success but got comfortable and went downhill. But while on the diet I lost 30lbs in 1 months time with diet and exercise. There was a lady at my job that went on the journey with me and we had so much fun weighing ourselves, and getting to our goals. I did P1 for a months time (hence the weight loss). But approaching P2 I got scared and instead of not doing P2 I did the complete 360 and just went HOG HAPPY.

That was years ago....

Now I am a newly 27 year old (4/23) and I want to get my life back in order. Among, other things my weight being a top priority. I am tired of looking in the mirror and having a spare tire look back at me. I want to feel good NAKED and even in clothes. I want to gain control over my excessive intake of carbs, starches, sugars and fats. I just pray that this group can help me reach my goals and in turn maybe I can help another person out.

So heres to honesty, and dedication and hardwork........and of course PRAYER !!!

Looking forward to chatting with you all.....:)

Hello! Just to say good luck with SBD and using prayer. Perhaps say hi to GrammaKD and Kyan who have journals on here and use prayer and God actively along with SBD :) Also yellobeuty...

Ah Manza, thank you for mentioning me as a dieting buddy! :D

Actually I am not a Christian though and I don't use prayer to help me along my journey. I debated all day long whether to share that or not ~ knowing I might lose some Christian friends here at the Beach... but I felt I had to be honest and upfront. That doesn't mean I'm not respectful of everyone else's religious choices and that I'm not a source of help along the South Beach trail though!

Welcome to the Beach, Did! (Short for Dieting in Dallas!) ha ha

1st off thanks to Kyan and manzanita for the comments, really appreciated. I am not one of those finger pointing christians I just believe in what I believe in, and well maybe that is just not whats for you. We all follow our own paths.

Ok so I had a minor (actually major) setback, I intended on starting my diet last week when I begin this board but due to lack of funds for healthier food (I know, so sad right) I had to start today.

But regardless I still have the same mindset I had when I originally wanted to start, I am even more determined. I wish I had a camera or something to post pictures but I will do it all by weight and inches. I was up early today looking for work so I was running around like crazy and have not had the chance to just eat lots. I did sneak in some deli turkey slices and extra sharp cheddar with some Crystal Light and for some reason I am so full. This could also have something to do with this lil belly ache that I got this morning probably because I "pigged" out this weekend. Not necessarily pigged out, but I definately ate a few of the things I knew I would be depriving myself from over this journey. SHAME ON ME !!!

But I did cook up a bag of Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast with some good seasoning, and I have some frozen green veggies also along with 2 different flavors of Crystal Light (or rather the WalMart equivilent). I also bought some turkey bacon. YUM !!!

I AM SO READY FOR THIS !!!!

Happy Cinco De Mayo !!!
I am in a pretty good mood so I am starting the day off early, I have some eggs in the pot boiling. And once those are done or close to being done I am going to put on some turkey bacon.

For snack I plan on having tuna wrapped in romaine with a few grilled veggies.
Lunch will be a nice vegglisicious salad...(maybe an octopus salad since reading malta's post)
For dinner my baked chicken and veggies.
Not sure if I will just update this one post during the day or just make another one, either way feel free to comment.

Just finished reading Malta's post and this is why this writing is in another color. I have decided to set a mini goal for myself which is to get out of the 200's by this week. That is only 5 pounds and I really think I can do it. Hey maybe even a lil more so I can stay ahead of my goals that would be nice.

Stats:
Height: 5'2"
Chest: 40"
Waist: 40"
Hips: 48.5"
Arm: 16"
Thigh: 29"

MINI GOAL 1: GET OUT OF THE 200's BY NEXT WEIGH IN DATE OF MAY 10/2009 !!!

One thing that I forgot about was how lazy this diet makes me, like really sluggish. Geez, I have got to start exercising or something to get some energy.

Stepped on the scale against my own better judgement and saw that I lost 3lbs....yea. I just might reach my goal of getting out of the 200's this week. 3lbs more to go. I will have to add in some exercise.

Hi Dallas!!
I just thought I would pop in on ya and see how it is going. 8)

I am having "sluggish" problems too. But I stayed on phase 1 a week longer than I should have. Too scared to switch even after I read about it being necessary. Felt much better today after I had some fruit. So I am biting the bullet and actually switching to phase II as of today. I lost the 20 pounds in the first 11 days and nothing since. Grrrr. Hopefully, the added carbs will kick start me again. I would perfectly content to lose 1-2 pounds a week. I figure that will take me 2 years to reach my goal but oh, well. You have much less to lose than me.

Anyway, just wanted to say 'HI"!

Thanks for the congrats, I really appreciate it.
It is hard, I think I will actually stay on the diet an extra week as well for mainly the same reasons you did.
Also because, I am trying to break my habit of carb binging....I LOVE CARBS.

Thanks again...:)

I finally have a ticker, I think I got it a few days back but it really helps. I did another cheat and stepped on the scale. Like another poster said maybe its good to do that, not sure yet. But anywho it said I was down 2lbs. I have not really felt any significant lose but then again I did an actualy CHEAT.

I WENT OVERBOARD with some ALMONDS. OMG they were on sale for 1.79 with a coupon at Walgreens and were very lightly salted but I LOVE ALMONDS. I know I overdid it and so if I do not see a change by Sunday I know its all on me.

I also need to start exercising so I will start today, I PROMISE MYSELF. I will do 4 reps of squats, weights and crunches. I really really need it. I want to get toned as I lose weight. I will post the TRUTHFUL results here. Even if I did not meet my goal.

Other than the almonds though, I did not cheat and TEMPTATION is all around me, there are wonderful cooks in my family.

It is easy to go overboard on nuts. They are so addicting. I admit I don't count them out like I should. I just grab a handful and walk away so I don't keep eating them.

I like your ticker. I am glad it is helping you stay motivated. I might get myself one too.

Have fun exercising!! I am proud of ya!

Hey brandywine thanks for the comment, I really love when people post in my DIet Journal it makes me feel as if I have a support system. ANd yeah NUTS are YUMMY !!!!

Glad you like my ticker, I love DOLPHINS. I even have a tattoo of one on top of my foot. Get a ticker it is fun and cool to let people know your progress. Because I love to look at tickers were the goal has been reached, or when people have made alot of progress it gives me hope.

I am going to look for your DIet Journal or post a link here if you can
