Scale Scares the heck out of me!

Postby angeleyes » Tue Mar 03, 2009 7:52 pm

What do I do? Every sunday I step into my bathroom and see the scale laughing at me. I dont seem to have the courage to step on it. It's been two week now.
I need the PUSH...PLEASE PUSH ME

why? Just go with how you feel and how your clothes are fitting. When you're ready, you can always step on it then. It's a very imprecise measurement of fat loss anyway. Most folks are better off staying off the scale anyway. It's really an irrelevant piece of hardware when trying to create a lifelong, lifestyle eating program

Thanks RedRox, thats exactly what I am going to do. I do see a drastic changes in how I feel and the inches, which i guess is enough to motivate me to keep it up.

I feel so much better now :)

Here's an interesting article that I (and others) post every once in a while titled, "Why the Scale Lies!" Might make you feel better too! :)

Instead of relying on the scale, you can take your measurements and see how much change there is.

I'm going to go against the grain slightly here and suggest you don't keep off it for too long. For me, it's what keeps me honest. I can ignore my clothes fitting slightly differently, and slight changes in how I look. However, I cannot ignore the scale if it continues to creep upward. I find that the scale, while not always the most accurate gauge of body changes (and sometimes can feel cruel), keeps me in check now that I'm trying to maintain, rather than lose.

My suggestion would be to weigh yourself once a week. That way, you won't be discouraged by daily (normal) weight fluctuations, you'll probably be excited by the more dramatic losses, and you'll still be on track!
