Girl Scout Cookies :(

Postby Daypo » Tue Feb 17, 2009 6:14 pm

I ordered 6 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies in Jan. from a coworker, before I knew I'd be on the South Beach Diet. I just got them today and they're sitting on my desk yelling at me ;-/ It's gonna take a lot for me not to eat some, lol...

Just take them over to the kitchen/break room area and leave them there. If your office is like any office I've ever worked at, the cookies will be gone quickly.

This works out good for you in two ways:1) You get rid of what sounds like a huge tempation to you; and 2) You get to be a hero to many of your hungry co-workers.

Not a bad idea, lol. A lot of people bought cookies, but I'm sure they won't mind a few added ones :P

Grrrrrrr! Dreaded GS cookies! I have been getting in to mine. Resist the first one, because I can attest that if you give in to one, you'll give in to more. Take them to the break room FAST!!

someone brought in donuts and muffins today. this is how i resist them....
you know how they say "when you are nervous speaking in front of a crowd to picture them naked"? i kind of use that trick and i think of the sweets as cigarettes. if someone brought a pack in and set them on the break room table would i smoke them just because they are free? he** no!! so why would i eat the donuts?? i realized that i cannot have donuts....ever. i have been down to 144 and thought "oh i am doing so good i can have some of the "good" stuff now" problem is, you go back UP to 146 before you know it and if i didn't STOP, i would be back to a size 10 and 169lbs again. so this is a reality that we live with. just like i cannot have cigarettes, i cannot have donuts, candy, and that kind of stuff.
maybe some people can but for me, i have learned that i cannot.

I was going to set them out in the break room, but it seems everyone in the office had a similar size pile of cookies sitting at their desk... nobobdy wanted them! Can you believe it?! lol..

Instead, I'm giving them away to family and friends. To be honest tho, they're not as big of a temptation as I had thought they would be. I feel so committed to this that I just won't let myself eat them. I feel like my few weeks of hard work (and results) are not worth giving up for a few cookies that will likely give me a tummy ache anyhow :P

I am truly amazed at how easy it is for me to pass on stuff I otherwise would have normally devoured! :D :D :D

Thankfully I don't know anybody selling them and so far they have not set up a table at my local grocery store. That is where they nab me.

I'm sure they will be there any day now!! :) They are out in full force at our grocery stores! You can always buy a box or two for the girls manning the booth depending on how you feel about being a sugar and refined carb pusher!! Or just make a donation to the troop. They do usually use the profits to do something fun for the troop as a group event.

Isn't it great when you realize you do not HAVE to eat bad things? I remember the day when something sinful would be calling to me and I did not have the choice - I had to answer that call. (figuratively - but you all know what I mean) I was POWERLESS to say no.

Since getting that cravings monster into it's cage I have been amazed at how often I don't even hear him moaning softly in the background anymore as he starves.

Unfortunately I have slipped him an occasional morsel here and there so as to not starve him to DEATH but I can still wrestle him back in his cage...

Love the comment by Red

Dang - heroin anyone!

But the reality of that is - for us - it's the same thing - addictions are addictions.

I'm a troop leader, so I have had cases and cases of cookies in my house!

A suggestion, if you wish to support the girl scouts (a great organization), but don't want cookies in your house! You can sponsor a girl that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford girl scouts, you can donate cash to a local troop, a lot of troops have cookies for soldiers programs, where a person can buy X number of boxes, and they get shipped overseas to our soldiers that are far from home. Or, you can give your boxes to friends, family, or spouses and have them "save" you from the evil little tasties!
