According to the book, hydrogenated oils are really scary and unhealthy, to be avoided at all cost. So, no. Peanuts, and salt. That's it.

Partially hydrogenated oils are the "transfats" that appear to be the worst types of fats for heart disease, worse than saturated fats. Fully hydrogenated oils I don't believe carry the same risks. So not all hydrogenated oils are created equal.

Question: while going to amsterdam for work a coworker told me that they had the best peanut butter.. i tried it.. i agreed.. and she said cause it only has two ingredients it was 'natural' and neither of us speak dutch so we were guessing.. i have been eating it-prior to the beach- and now i am wondering if i can eat my favorite peanut butter.. so here are the ingredients-

pinda's, plantaardige olie en vet, zout

when i used alta vista translation.. it said peanuts, salts and vegatable oil..

i am feeling completely clueless.. i haven't had vegetable oil in years.. it is legal here?

(and i def. have to mix it up.. so i think that is in its favor.. :) )

I actually have been using better than peanut butter. It's at Trader Joe's but you can alos find it at Dierburgs. The texture is a bit tacker than reg pb, but at 100 calories and 2 grams of fat for 2 tbsp (opposed to 190) it's well worth the slight different. I've also ordered Walden Farms calories free peanutter butter spread?? I've never tried it, but I thought why not? I 've used the dressing and they're hit and miss, but I really enjoy the no-calorie Ranch and Bacon ones.

Ingredients: PEANUTS (AS DEFATTED PEANUT FLOUR AND NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER), TAPIOCA SYRUP, PURE WATER, DEHYDRATED CANE JUICE, RICE SYRUP, VEGETABLE GLYCERIN, SOY FLOUR, SALT, TAPIOCA STARCH, NATURAL FOOD FLAVORS, PAPRIKA & ANNATO, CALCIUM CARBONATE, LECITHIN, VITAMINS E & C (ANTIOXIDANTS).

I wouldn't touch the stuff personally!! You want the good oils and fats from the peanuts, so why take them out and replace them with all these sugars, starches, flours and things that have no business being in peanuts to begin with? This is a frankenfood at it's worst IMO.

And you still need your good fats in your salad dressings, so you still should be adding healthy oils to those walden farms dressings if you choose to use those.

No, it's not worth it at all! You are very confused. Forget what low-fat diets told you. SB is based on lean protein, good carbs, and good fats. They have taken out all the heart-healthy fats and replaced them with what is essentially sugar. TAPIOCA SYRUP, DEHYDRATED CANE JUICE, RICE SYRUP, TAPIOCA STARCH are all either sugars or starches that convert very quickly to sugar once they hit your system. No, this is not SB-friendly. Not at all.

WOE = Way of Eating. I was craving peanut butter (hardly ate it before) and wasn't sure what kind to buy. Does anyone recommend a natural cashew of almond butter?

Last night I went to the store to pick up peanut butter. Seems that a lot of major brands now have peanut butter that they call "natural". But buyer beware - both the skippy, planters and jif "natural" have sugar added. Make sure you read the labels.

I finnally bought Smuckers (ingredients are peanuts). Had to stir it up this morning, but boy was it tasty on my leftover oat pancakes from Sunday morning.
