Well, if I didn't just fall of the face of the Earth! I had a bad week personally and professionally and then I got the flu. I just kind of dropped out of everything. I still managed to stay fairly Beachy, but exercise went out the window. I have been really sick for quite some time...about five days. During that time, I walked a little, but I haven't really done any exercising. I should be back at a routine by Saturday.

It is good to get my focus back.

I am stalled at 267. I just can't break through the wall. Of course, I know why: sushi, lack of regular exercise, and stress. I will get back on track. I will, I will, I will.

Hi Smurlene! Your journal caught my eye, as I too have PCOS and fertility problems. As I read further, I found we share other things too - I teach college English (or did), BA in English/Masters in CW, and I too was given methotrexate to end a pregnancy (unfortunately my hcg kept rising and I had to have a D&C). I wanted to tell you that I think you are incredibly brave to be working through what you're working through - and so selfless to post it to the world for others to read. Kudos!

sheepie--So nice of you to drop by! It is nice to meet a fellow cyster and even better to meet someone who has shared some of my joys and griefs.

How are you doing with SB? How long have you been on?

yeah! I finally broke the wall. Got on the scale this morning, and I hit 266, which is my lowest weight since 1998! Woo-hoo!

I know what happened: beans. Really. Too many. You can't have beans for every meal (as the little diddy would have you believe) and still lose weight. So, I am back to having beans just once a day. I will miss you my friends....

In other news, after started a coffee habit for the first time in more than three years, I just gave up the Joe again. My habit only last about five weeks, but it was enough to know that I have more energy without coffee than I do with and it activates my heartburn. Ouchie!

SMURLENE!!!!
Where are you???

I'm starting again on Jan 6th.
I'm starting with phase 1.
I'm determined this time - I'm going all the way!
This is it for me - I'm going to hit my goal and maybe beyond.

I hope you are still checking this journal, I noticed that the boards were down for a few months.

Hope to hear from you and see how things are.

How did the divorice go? Is it still going?
Divorice is such an interesting subject right now for me. DH and I are in therapy and I'm so fed up with his lack of motivation for anything - it's bringing me down. We will see how this plays out - he's been unemployeed for 4 years now - and it's taking it's toll on the family as a whole.

Well, on that happy note, hope to hear from you soon.

Sid--So glad to hear from you!!! I have been so distraught. The site has been down for such a long time. I had nearly given up that it would ever come back up again. I think that is why I slipped a little. Without the support here, it was hard to keep focused 100%. I floating around 260ish, which is pretty darn good given the year I have had. (Don't ask...)

That is great that you are restarting Jan. 6...that is my Beachaversary date!! I hope it brings you good luck!

How have you been?

The divorce is not yet final, but it looks like most of it is settled. It should be final by Feb. It still makes me very sad, but it is also a relief in many ways. I hope to be moving (maybe to another part of the country) this summer, so a new start all around. :D

I saw some friends recently who hadn't seen me in quite awhile and they were so surprised at how much thinner I am. I am down to a 22. I started at a 32. My periods have been as regular as clockwork since April. That is the best part!!

Can't wait to hear from you.

So great to see you still here!
Wow - 260 is so great for you!!! Thats so amazing.
I remember when you got to 300, and that was a big milestone.

I am all for clean starts - I think it's a fantastic way to keep our lives from getting boring. Good luck with whatever you decide. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I am very excited to begin SB again. I need the support from this forum, and the before/after photos help so much also.

Isn't it great to have others notice when we loose weight. It's hard to see it on ourselves sometimes. I recently gained a few pounds (7) over the last few months, and although it's not really that much, my mom sure noticed, and so do my stretchy pants!!!! Thank God for stretchy waistlines!!!

My main goal is to get down to a size 6/8 - if that's even possible. For so long I have always been a 12/14 kinda girl, with the biggest being 16/18. I think sizes are annoying and it's really in how we percieve ourselves and how we feel about our bodies that counts. I'm satisfied with size 10 but would love to try to get to an 8. Ok, now i'm obsessing about sizes.

Great to hear from you, hope you have a wonderful year and stay strong - you acheived so much in the last 2 years with SB!!!

Hi there! I thought I'd check out your journal since you have PCOS too. I've been frustrated with my doctors, they have diagnosed me but not really done much about it. I am planning to go pick up a book or two tonight to be ready for battle with my endocrinologist appointment later this month. I actually had one doctor tell me if I didnt want to get pregnant to not worry about not getting my period. Sounds like you have been doing a great job on SBWoL. I'm still fairly new but seeing great results. SBD was actually recommended by my husbands doctor not mine..

Sounds like you are very organized and have a great plan going, keep up the great work. I am personally hoping that this WOL helps me get off my blood pressure meds, I am not taking anything for PCOS but that will be something I will be discussing when I have my appointment.

Pixel--It is awesome that you have found SBD. It has honestly saved my life. I do slide off of it now and then, but overall, it is an easy plan to follow. So much delicious food, and I only get hungry if I eat too much of something I shouldn't (mashed potatoes, anyone?), and that was never true before. PCOS and that great insulin resistance that comes with or causes it (depending on who you talk to) is a beast...SBD helps tame it. While it is not a cure, it should does help. Good luck!

Hey Smurl!

I'm doing ok. Honestly, right around the time this board went down, a bunch of crappy stuff happened (grandma died, etc.), and the rest of my semester went down the drain. It was pretty awful, but it's over now...except for one lingering paper that I had to get an extension on. Ugh.

Anyhow, my diet/exercise went off track, but not hugely. Still, I've put on about 4-5 pounds, which bothers me. I'm focusing on getting my eating on track this week. My paper is due on the 15th, and once that's in, I can commit to a more regular exercise schedule. I'm going to follow the 80% rule with respect to eating though - I'm usually much better than that, but for the odd week here and there, it helps me to not completely throw in the towel, you know what I mean?

Enough about me - I hope things have been going ok for you as of late? I'm sorry to hear about the divorce. How is work?

Cheeky :D

cheeky--Sorry to hear about your grandma. We lost two family members at the end of last year, too. It is so hard. I am glad that you finished everything but the one paper. It is hard to start a new term with work having over your head.

I didn't really gain weight during my rough times. I just kind of stalled. It sounds like your approach is really thoughtful. Sometimes 80% is the best we can do, and it is certainly better than going all the way into the crapper!

Work is fine. I haven't been there since Dec. 20. School starts again on Jan 14. I am kind of looking forward to it, but it means that I have to leave my boyfriend and head back to the city. But school's out May 2, so I can't complain too much. :D

Good luck with your last paper, and I hope that this term goes better than the last.

Hi Smurlene!
This site being down all the time drives me nuts.
I actually started SB again, and when i couldn't post every day - or go look at all the before/after photos I got sidetracked.
I hope they stay up this time.

How have you been?
How's being back at work? - I find it nice to have a routine to look forward to each day.

All the best - Sid

I have been okay. Just recently went through a lot. Family deaths, divorce, etc.

Glad to hear from you!!!
