Hi onaMi,

Congrats on the loss of the 50 pounds! That is so impressive-but I know it was through hard work, a lot of will power and the power of prayer. You will make it to your final number-it will take time, but you will get there!

I have had a good week-I just could not get on the board for a few days-I guess you have that issue from time to time too.

Have a good weekend and stay on the beach-

well weekly report !I had an interesting week. It's been so hot here in Florida until i have to get up early to walk and get to the gym,
I only walked once last week and didn't make it to the gym at all  I just had a lot going on! I ate on plan and didn't stray one time but just couldn't get moving like i have been.
soooo...i stayed the same in the weight department.I guess if i don't move i won't lose.I'm not to down about it..I just don't want to get thoughts in my mind about the other 50 lbs i want to lose.
I'm thinking about just saying from now on...start to count from 1 lb on  instead of 51,52  I don't know....
But i did start back this morning hitting the payment! at 6;30 am  then came back and went to bed.Tomorrow is gym day so I'll go there and do my thing.
soo...there have been other weeks when I haven't lost anything but for some reason this time feels different.I can't get to comfortable and let my mind stray.that's why i want to start counting from 1 lb on :?
so i guess I'll start back reading all my motivational material and make this big push for this other 50 lbs.

Oh,thanks MaryAnn(xo)...
so nice of you to stop by :P And thank you very much..Time has really flown by.
I'm trying not to think about that 50lbs cause i still have 50 more to lose.and I'm psyching myself up to just concentrate on the next 50.
Thank God for my strong will.I live alone so i don't have any tempting food around. And while I'm home,i build up my mind so when i go out,I'm not tempted by any foods.

Hi onaMi,

When you lost the first 50 pounds did you have mini goals for 5 or 10 pounds? If you did not-it might help you mentally to break the next 50 down into smaller steps. It may take longer to lose the second 50 and it might help you have a goal that you could reach in a month or two. Then a new goal for the next month or two-

Just remember you are doing great everyday!

Mary Ann

Thank you for the Pepe LePew-I have 2 black cats he would fall in love with-if they only had that accidental white paint stripe appear on their backs!

FWIW, I think you are doing great and amazing things each and every day you make good choices! :) Try not to let the "size" of the remaining pounds get you down. Look at how much you have already accomplished!!!

And yeah for most of us, the activity/exercise component becomes more important over time it seems. I'll actually be participating in a metabolism study here in July to help try and quantify that. It seems to be an important component of both successful losers and successful maintainers, but they aren't sure why or how much is necessary so they are trying to figure it out at a more specific level of what actually goes on for those who lose weight and keep it off over time.

You may find these observational facts from the National Weight Control Registry interesting? Or not!!

Oh,,thank you so much Red :P You have no idea the joy i had to log-in and see and encouraging message from you.!!!! your words are like gold to me..haha.I'm thrilled you haven't left us high and dry

Wow..That sounds like an interesting study,So they are going to study how much you need to exercise in order to maintain your weight or to keep your metabolism steady in order to keep the weight off(?) very interesting.I'd love to know how all that works. Thanks for the link,I'll definitely check it out.when do you start?will you have to stay somewhere where you are monitored or something?

A lot of the encouraging things you've said to people,i have then all bookmarked and today I've been renewing my mind and spirit with them (i call them my Renewing of mind and spirit bible verses  ) and since you speak so highly of yoga...I've started looking into it as a form of meditation for me cause anything that will help my mind and spirit I'm on it :)

In the inspirational thread, you posted a daily devotional link and i get those e-mails and they are really nice.Thanks.
I made it to the Gym today!!!..

Oh..sorry Mary Ann  I was so excited to see Red here i didn't check farther up the page until now

Thanks for stop by..when i started SB, i have always wanted to lose 100 lbs.I got tired of being sick and tired.I've been over weight all my life and I've always had a number in my mind,180 lbs.I've lost weight before(in 95) 100 lbs but put it all back on cause once i stopped eating the Jenny Craig food I didn't know how to eat to live and to keep the weight off.

Plus i let this guy move in with me and he started cooking and he had no idea what i had been threw before he met me so.....

But my mother is 84yrs old and she and i have always talked about the number 180 lbs.I'd give anything for her to see me at that weight before she leaves this earth.

How your Mother,by-the-way?

So,I'm Just not gonna think about the next 50 really and just keep on making good choices and keep my mind right i guess.that's all i can do really.

I feel so much better, i like looking at myself in the mirror now and I'm only on 2 pills a day compared to the 13 i was on last year so I'm just gonna take one day at a time, like i been doing.

I have been breaking the lbs up in 10 lbs intervals all along so i guess I'll continue to do that :? thanks for the advise :)

Glad you liked the cat. :)

hehehe... I'm no saint, believe me! ;)

They actually did think of having people stay overnight at the medical center but realized that their chances of getting people to participate would go way down, so I don't have to do that. Basically it is a 2 week study, with 5 hours of testing after an overnight fast on days 1, 8 and 15. I'll have a heart rate monitor or other activity type of monitor on my arm for 2 weeks and a motion sensor on my hip to help determine overall movement. I go the first week doing my normal routine as far as eating and activities and keep a detailed food journal for 3 days of that week. The second week they give me my food to eat to match my basal metabolic rate plus a certain percentage (40%) so they will know exactly how many calories I am taking in, and I have to give up all my activity and be as sedentary as possible. Presumably the testing they are doing at the start, middle and at the end will help them figure out what they are trying to find out as they compare the results from where I started to ending week 1 to ending week 2. Those are really the basics as I understand them.

I was invited to participate because I am a member of the Nat'l Weight Control Registry and they are testing 3 groups of people. Those who are overweight and have been for a long time, those who are a normal weight and have never had weight issues to begin with, and then the people like me who they are really interested in, those who have lost weight and kept if off for a significant period of time. Hence the invite as a NWCR member since by definition, they fall into that last category. I'm scheduled to go through it from July 5th to 19th, so we'll just have to see how it goes! :)

Cool..It would be good if you would set up a blog and journal your experience of what's happening so that WE can read It.It would be a very interesting to read.I'm sure a lot of people would find it fascinating.
That's really cool that you got invited to do it. And that's all the time it takes, 2 weeks.that's pretty good.Seems like, to get a more accurate reading, you would have to do it for a couple of months or something but with new technology..they can do anything now.

Hi onaMi,

I hope you had a good week.

I have decided to be in Phase III for a while. Too much going on in my house to do more than try to stay the same for now. I am not going to do anything different. I just need to be happy with where I am for now and maintain during the summer.

Thank you for asking about my mom-she is happy, but I can tell she is declining more mentally. I am happy that so far she is always cheerful and ready to laugh at anything.

Take care-

Had a good week!!!! my mind is back to full attack mode!

lost 2 lbs!!!(50) and after renewing my mind with all my inspirational quotes,meditating,praying...I'm pushing on! I attacked the gym on schedule and I'm walking on schedule, I've adjusted my mind set...to think like i just started the SB plan!!

Forget the things that are behind(the weight I've already lost) and look ahead(to the 50 lbs i want to lose now)

Made a small goal with my brother this weekend so that will give my mind something to push for other than my original goal...

This weekend i got a little depressed cause i just wanted to eat a honey bun and stuff not good for me but didn't give into temptation..yay!!! I wasn't hungry, just wanted them cause i saw someone else with one  which in turn makes me grumpy and irritable but it's over and that's that.I guess i need to devise a strategy for the weekends now

But other than the weekend irritability,I'm walking a straight line.I think it has something to do with this hot weather too. :?

Thanks for stopping by Mary Ann!!
That's great you've reach phase3.To be at peace with yourself and content is really nice to read :P I have no doubt that you will do just fine in maintaining your weight cause you have the tools and mind set to stay where you want to be.
I'm sorry i didn't find your journal earlier when you first started, to help motivate you more. There's so many different personalities here and It's hard to find someone to relate to.and than when i do find someone, they are only here for a short time :?
But when i read you talking about your mother,it brought a smile to my face :P .My mother is my best friend and she's 84yrs old.so that's why i could relate to you.Everyday is precious with you and her, so just be happy and you'll have peace in your heart cause you'll know that you did all you could for her :P

Thank you YB(X)

Well....Another week has gone by and feeling good! thought I'd post tonight cause tomorrow I'll be super busy. With making sure i get my exercise in, other IE stuff and life ..just a busy bee!

Had a good week! scale moved, down 4 lbs!!!! total 6(50)!!!! I really pushing it last week.for some reason, i just wanted to sweat. When i was walking,I'd walk until i worked up a good sweat and same at the gym.Could be cause i was trying to relieve some stress that i had last week :? whatever,it felt good.

Also I really started to watch the salt.I was watching it at once but got away from it but now I've really started back focusing on my salt intake.

This weekend i didn't get into the"Just want to eat Zone" cause i had to find a way to eat for life on the weekend.I found out that i can eat my 3 cups of popcorn and be satisfied and it did not cause me to want more...Yay!!!!!...i realized that i have control of what i eat and that I'm not powerless.I control what goes in my mouth and it does not control me.So on the weekend, I treated myself to the popcorn and haven't craved for any more !!!!

I'm really feeling good. It's like now, when i walk, i just want to start running  AMAZING!!!! but i guess i should ask my doctor about that cause i don't want to have a heart attack

So,I thank you Lord for keeping my mind right and for the people here on this site that words of advise and encouragement(that i read that's given to everyone) i hold so dear.
