jh on sb

Postby jhderm » Wed Dec 09, 2009 2:08 pm

OK. I broke down. I need a place to keep track, and so I am starting my own. I can't promise fun or excitement. I can only say, I will at least put down what I eat, and try to learn something about myself. I get to meet some of you elsewhere, so feel free to come here or not. I will be happy to see you here or there. Or everywhere.
Quick summary- started SB on Oct 16 2009. Lost 9 lbs, got stuck, hit PZero, broke through during TG (DRY turkey...) and lost another 2 lbs. Just as I got happy about that and hopeful to lose 3 more by Xmas, gained back 2 last week by eating for comfort and anxiety. Back to SB as of yesterday, but will have to bear the consequences patiently, and patience is NOT my best asset. Is it yours?... :-)
Will edit food as I go along. My tough time is the night, when I get home, and there is a fridge there to eat from!!!!!

bkfst egg beaters omelette with leftover salmon, mushrooms and scallions (I am FULL!)
s 15 cashews
lunch forgot- hectic day, late brkfast and snck
sn ditto
Dinner salad plus turkey meatballs (3)
snk tofutti lf/ls sticks (2)

*jumping up and down in excitement* You know, Judi, I really think this will be a great tool for you to help you keep track. Just because my journal is a social network of sorts, that doesn't dimminish the value of writing your 'stuff' down. I think this will really help you. I have to re-evaluate my reasons for being here on this forum today, or rather, I guess I just have done so, and I need to realize that this is not just a comfort place to spend time, that I really need to be walking the walk....everyday.

Let's get started.

I am in the same boat as you when it comes to patience I so just want the weight to melt off. Its hard work but I'm sure that we can all do it together. Its very comforting to just have a place to write whatever is on your mind whenever you want to. Holidays can be stresssful and I normally eat when I'm stressed and my anxiety level goes up and I eat more. I'm hoping that getting it all out in the journal pages helps. Good luck and you will lose the weight you want to :)

Michelle- you are right. You created the social network, and I think it is just GREAT. We now have real relationships with a group of people. You are really good at it. I always have fun going to your jrnl.
In fact though, we have to be accountible to ourselves. I know from everything you wrote that you walk the walk. Talking doesn't hurt :-)
But yes, let's walk the walk. I don't want to fizzle out on the effort. I really feel like I have to unveil a person covered in layers of extra wt on my outside, in order to find "me" inside. I know I am in there, and don't want to keep myself from living by keeping the covers. This is the plain down to earth truth of it.
And good to see your here, my friend! xoxoxoxoxo
RB- I know you are new here on SB. This forum is what makes the plan work. It's about the people. The rest is just keeping track of specifics. To me, the support here is incredible. I also got a lot of inspiration from looking at before and afters. Awesome. It can be done. You yourself have done it before, so you know...and so do we all, having gone up and down probably many times. Trick is to use the support to lose and keep it off.
Good luck- let's keep in touch and follow each other. Patience is a virtue and we all tend to eat out of anxiety. Drink water instead and visualize yourself on a nude beach :-) South or otherwise ;-)

Hey, how'd you do today?! I did SB 95% of the time... and I "moved" snow! I think that makes up for the last 5%, don't you!? :)

You only have 3 more lbs to goal~! OMG! Come on, move it! Hop up and down and move around. Go go go go go! Wiggle it off you! Take a hot shower! Wrap yourself in celephane... JUST KIDDING! You are sooooo close! Up, get up! Stop typing on the computer and get up! Move! You can DO it! It's just three pounds!

Judi, just do it. :)

LOLOL, Michelle. You are right. Just do it.
3 lbs to your wisely followed advise to reach the fist goal. By height etc I should be around 140-145. Remember???? I was going to reset when things were MOVING?...and you advised me not to? Well, you were RIGHT. But yes, 3 lbs look so close and so far. I will move a bit tomorrow. No excuses- just lazy and don't like to eeee....but will try to overcome.
XOXO

PS, my day was so crazy, I mostly forgot to eat. Better this way. Now, all I need to lose more is some dry turkey!  :P

Don't you let something as mundane as boredom get in your way of 3 lousy pounds! Put in Christmas carols and walk... or a violin concerto that you love. After this three lbs, you can take a moment to find something you like. For now, just get walking. You can do this and definately by Christmas! Woot woot! I am sooo excited for you! I can see the goal line from here! You're amazing. Look at what you've already done! Push, push, push! :D   :!: :D

Michelle, you are such a giften motivator!!!! You remind me of my trainer whom I feel like marrying some days, and like shooting on others
Tomorrow will be my 2 month anniversary on SB. I can't believe that I was able to stick to it with only minor mishaps for this long. Compared to my past few years, this has been a relatively easy ride. And I couldn't have done it without you and without all of you who have been there to support me, to make me laugh, to tell it like it is when needed, and to make me feel like there is a warm cozy place that I can go to every day to feel good. So i want to take this occasion to say THANK YOU. I love you.
Yesterday was a somewhat disorganized but good day. Today I am planning to have another good one! :)
Will update as I go along.
Just looked at the success stories this morning for inspiration. Remarkable. We all have so much strength inside, and of all things, wt loss is something WE control as opposed to many things that we don't! So, no excuses. Let's do it.
12-9-09
Brfst
15 cashews and one string cheese (yes, usually my snackfood but ran out without breakfast).
Snck not really
L sardines, 3 fiber rich crackers( the sawdust tasting kind) and one lf Dannon yogurt ( the greek one got too old and moldy- I am at work at the mercy of existing suppiies)
D- chicken with veggies, spinach, blueberries, one lf tofutti stick and one drink at the party (Campari with a splash of soda)
Snack- string cheese(1), one more lf tofutti stick! ( I think my babysitter ate my remaining almonds, just when I really craved them. Oh well.)
And I walked 20-30 minutes from work and then home from the party (no cabs, it was FREEZING).

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN........... Welcome to the 3lb.........THROWDOWN! In this corner, it's our favorite sister, Judi, who's been stuck a time or two, but has always risen to the occasion! (crowd roars!) :D In that corner, the rotten, dispicable, life sucking 3lbs!(crowd boos!) The typical rules apply! Calories in vs Calories out + Movement = Total DEFEAT! Those supporting our challenger please make some NOISE! :!: 8)

Remind me, what is your weigh in day? I wanna know! :) You've done so well! I know you've had sticky moments, but so what? Look where you are now! And in three lbs, I'm gonna let you re-adjust your goal.... for five more lbs! I think you may do better with a smaller goal. Then you get to have successes... many of them. And those five lb goals will add up before you know it! So, what are you going to do today to smack those three pounds down?

You crack me up!!!! So funny!!! Yeppp, we need to defeat that damn 3 lber on the other side. One TKO coming up soon!
Currently, I am back up 2 lbs to 165, but I am sure those 2 extras won't be a big deal.
Yes, I think next time, a smaller goal will FEEL better. This is a hard one to beat. But when I read about people having lost over 100lbs, some with another big chunk to go, I feel humbled and put things into perspective. That's why this forum is so inspiring- you learn about others and yourself in a whole different setting!
I hope you are having a beachy day. Looked at your family on fb, how nice your kids are!!!!You have done a great job. So now, for sure, you are entitled to take care of yourself!!!!

Hi Judi - I must behind on the times around here! I did't realize you had started a journal.

Yes, Michelle's post was great! It seems like everyone is wading through some rough patches and weight stalls (PZero). Sometimes just logging in here and having a new posts gives us a smile and enough encouragement to act as a reminder as to why we're doing what we're doing.

Not to mention keep us walking the walk!

I'm glad to see you've made another home in the forums. If you don't mind, I'll make myself at home and be a regular here, too.

This morning, I had a small amount of cake that a co-worker brought in for our dailly holiday carry-in. I forgot my afternoon snack this morning, so I'm a little munchy. It is sitting right in front of me... However, I'm going to keep you guys in mind and NOT eat any more of that cake. I have willpower and will do my best to REPRESENT! heh heh

Looking forward to a successful slide downward toward a good weigh in next week!

Hey Beth, you are WELCOME here always!!!! I enjoy our connection a lot.

So today, you learned the altered version of the saying....you can have your cake and NOT eat it too! ;-) Good for you. Will power, and old BF explained to me, is like a muscle- the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets.

I had a pretty decent beach day but the scale is stuck. However, I was happy to see that the PZero topic came to life. I think we all need it from time to time, and I hope it won't die. I have no doubt I will hit some serious PZeros again.

Have a great night- I will check in tomorrow. Now I am going to update the food I had today, before I forget...

jh, we seem to be having very similar experiences with a good initial weight loss and then hitting a wall. I thought a pound a week was a reasonable goal, but it seems like my body wants to stay where it is. I keep telling myself that if I just stay TOTALLY on the beach for 7 days, I'd see some progress, but then things come up - like today I forgot my lunch and ended up eating out, and then had a party tonight. So, even though I ate ALOT less than I wanted, it was far from perfect.

Tomorrow is another party, followed by another one on Sunday. Sigh. I, too, would like to lose just 2-3 by Christmas, but realistically I wonder if maintaining my current weight is a better goal. On the plus side, there's snow now for x-country skiing, and I intend to go tomorrow and Saturday, so lots of calories will be burned. If I could figure out a way to go on Sunday I would, but I don't think it's in the cards. Monday, though, I can probably go out at lunch time. What bliss - exercise that I absolutely LOVE :D :D :D !

So, let's see what we can do despite temptation at every turn. Hang in!

Hi Sonie
I thought the same, that it's VERY reasonable to hope for a lb a week. Not so. Some weeks, PZero. One bad week put me back up 2 lbs. It's a game of patience and being able to tolerate frustration. Especially for seekers of immediate gratification, like me. Thank you for sharing. You started about where I got to by now, and you broke the ugly 160, so I am looking in your direction, and I am cominggggg.........can almost see you there! :-)
Parties are tough, but I try to have a meal before I go, and I stick to a handful of almonds, sometimes a bit of cheese, and if I have been good, some wine. (Tonight, was out, no wine). This is party season, so not gaining is already an accomplishment. If you x-country, you will keep losing. It's supposed to be a great way to burn calories.
Keep me posted on how you are!
Today's food
B: can't recall
L grilled chicken salad with avocado, some blue cheese crumbs and a kind of wheat looking grain, not sure what it was, had no taste
S- skipped, late lunch
D Salmon with veggies, salad, strawberries
Party snack- almonds and cheese (probably more than in the stickies, but overall, not a bad choice, right????)

Be back tomorrow to see you all.

Quick food jrnl today 12-12-09
B: string cheese
S: chicken soup (I know, the hours got messed up)
L: chicken with veg, diet jello, blueberries
S: grapes (too many I think but hopefully no damage done)
D Beef stew, salad and veggies; glass of wine; some appetizer size baby lambchops (there were irresistible, really!), and lots of laugh at the comedy club with friends!!!!

Just lost back 1 lb from the 2 I put back on last week. Darn slow. Darn frustrating. Darn I am not giving up!
