Thanks Judi & Jeff!

Well, the womens' retreat was absolutely AMAZING!! WOW!! I went with a completely open mind, not really sure what to expect, but looking forward to spending time with my friend Starr, and 14 other amazing women I didn't know. Well, by Sunday we were all best friends! We had some amazing facilitators. A wonderful woman lead us through Yoga 3 times, another woman 'writer' lead us through a writing exercise including journalling and writing short stories. I did the Zumba class which was super FUN! The ladies loved it. About 10 participated and just laughed and clapped. After the class a few of them told me I should be teaching for real. That made me feel good. Another one said I looked super 'hot' up there in the front. That made me blush and smile.

On Sunday a Life Coach came in and lead us through a meditation exercise. Holy crap!!! I didn't think I could get into it because I have a hard time shutting off my mind completely any time I've tried before... BUT... it was at the end of the retreat so I was very relaxed and open minded, and I had the most amazing spiritual experience of my life. It was a 'future you' meditation, so she walked us through moving forward and seeing ourselves 10 years ahead. Sounds weird eh? and that's exactly what I thought when we started, but I can tell you that I went into this completely relaxed transe and met my future self 10 years ahead... and I looked AMAZING! I lived in a beautiful white beach house on the ocean on a beach. And when I asked the future me what I did to get there she told me I had to open my mind, stop controlling and just be - be open to new things and just live. It was insane.

I know you're all thinking I"m completely NUTS but I'm really not. And I've just been on a high from the entire experience of the weekend. Had a great time with my friend Starr, didn't get much sleep as we were up late chatting and up for 7am yoga both days. Kept the food super healthy and didn't eat any of the multiple delicious desserts. Drank a TON of water and chamomile tea all weekend and took the stairs everywhere. Super healthy.

Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant. Had to share it here with you all. Hope you're all doing well.

Do you all think I'm totally weird now and that's why no one has posted all week??? LOL!!!

Had a good week. Got to the gym 4x already and hope to be back on Sunday. Staying away from the scale because it messes with my head too much.. blah!

Went to the store today and bought a really lovely tankini top that I LOVE and will feel really good strutting around the beach in.

Hope you're all doing well.

Hey Lisa,

Your retreat sounded like an amazing experience. Me-I just want to be alone for a few hours every now and then. That is what I need more than anything to get my self centered these days. I have decided I don't believe my scale anymore so I am just going to trust my clothes and my mirror for now.

Take care,
Mary Ann

Hi Lisa,

Your retreat sounds mind blowing. How did you find it? I wonder if there is one like it around NY (or FL for good weather) and if so, I may go. I am familiar w those exercises and your subconscious really takes on a voice and talks to you when you really let it happen. So I am amazed but not surprised at your experience. If you do something like this again, let me know, I may just join in!

Putting the scale away is not a bad thing for a while; also, so is watching portion sizes. I lost only because I started to weigh my protein and realized I had been grossly overdoing it even though it didn't feel like I was overeating. So that's my 2 cents for the day.

Looking forward to hearing from you again. Put michael's website in my jrnl for you so you can hear the whole album.

Keep it up, Ms Zumba!!!! You are fun and you are great.

Nobody is posting because we're all struggling, Lisa! I know I didn't want to tell myself or anyone what I ate last week!

Your retreat sounded wonderful. I'd settle for a weekend alone somewhere with a hot tub and food that I don't have to cook, lol!

Hi Lisa,

Look who is not posting now?

Still looking to hear where that woman's retreat was and how you found it! Would be nice to go to one like it.

Yesterday, I went to costco, and on a whim bought an electric scale, really nice glass design, and doesn't shift a lb or two each time I move!
I have been holding off on doing this, but I never know what my weight is when it moves up and down as I lean back or forward. So there. Now, the truth will come out.

I know you are counting down to Mexico, so easy on the protein, keep up the exercise and that tankini will feel GOOD!

:-)

Hi guys, thanks for visiting!

Judi, my friend Starr coordinated the retreat herself. She's really earthy, fun and knows a ton of people, so she booked the facility and put the agenda together with a friend of hers. All the women who lead activities were people that the 2 of them knew who were interested in spending the weekend at a womens retreat. It turned out awesome! We all paid $150 and that included the rooms and the food and the activities for the entire weekend!! DEAL!!! Not sure they'll do it annually or not but I'll let you know. It was held in Niagara Falls, Canada - beautiful!

So I've been working out like crazy and loving it. I've crossed a line now where I just need to do more, and more. I just crave it now. Yesterday I actually skipped out of work for the morning to do a special BodyPump/Zumba class that lasted 2.5 hours. Amazing! I'll get to the gym 6 x this week just because I went yesterday and can go Sunday.

I am totally looking forward to Mexico in 2 weeks! I have a plan to work out every day there too... just because I will be able to, love to, and they have an awesome class schedule all day, PLUS Zumba on the beach every afternoon. Life is good!

Hope you're all having a great week.

Hey Kyan, no I'm not watching BL. i'm all into The Voice and American Idol, so no time for other TV shows in my life.

So the week hasn't gone as well as I planned. Started on Thursday when our team went out for Sushi for lunch and I ate a lot, then cancelled spinning that day, thinking no problem, will get there Friday. Then Friday, DD woke up sick so I had to take the day off with her, so no usual BodyJam class. So sitting around the house all day is not good and today I can't get to the gym because of the kids... so tomorrow is it!! Food has been okay but way too many carbs the last couple of days and know that's when I get into trouble.

Also, DH slipped on the ice last week and hit the back of his head. We're pretty sure he had a concussion, and now is suffering from post concussion syndrome. He spent 8 hours in the hospital Thursday to get checked out (9 days after it happened) because he has been so dizzy with terrible headaches coming and going since his fall. The CT scan showed no swelling/bleeding - thank God so all is okay, but it could take weeks for him to feel normal again.... blah!

So hoping you guys are having a great week and are all motivated. I am so tired of SNOW and winter!! Had a massive dumping of snow yesterday in a short time and it just sucks!! The city comes to a slow crawl and it's so hard to get anywhere when this happens! Blah!! okay, I obviously need an attitude adjustment so will stop whining now.

Wow, Lisa, snow plus sick kids is not fun. We've had so little snow this winter that I can still see my grass. We got a little through the night, but it turned to rain. Just mostly messy for DS to drive in delivering his bread at 4am. But they did get 20" in northern Maine and some in the ski areas.

Do you have any exercise dvd's you can do in an emergency? That's the only way I get a workout in most of the time, although if I don't do it before everyone else starts waking up on the weekend, it doesn't happen. I hate jumping around in front of my family!

Hope both your sweethearts feel better. Time to get your husband some of those strap on traction things for his boots.

Lisa, so sorry to hear about your kids and also and esp DH's fall. Lucky that he is OK! and good for you that you went to the hospital- although, it's best to do it right after the fall. I don't want to say "next time" since I hope there is not going to be a next time!

Just focus on the countdown to Mexico and do the best you can for exercise considering everything going on. And rest so that you don't do yourself in...

Will be looking for your posts.

yes countdown to Mexico is on!! I'm sick as a dog today with a bad cold and horrible sore throat!! It was coming on in the week but I wasn't letting it bug me, and now it's on full force, so I had to sleep all afternoon and miss my fav Zumba class. SUCKS and I can't stop coughing. My throat feels like it's on fire - really raw and I was coughing a lot during the night so awake a lot. I know tonight will be the same. I'm going to call and make an appt with my dr for tomorrow or Tuesday. I CANNOT be sick on vacation again. Just did that when we went to Disney and it was not good. This winter has been very rough on the family with colds etc. Not sure why as we are all so usually healthy. This will be my 3rd cold this winter and I'm living my most healthiest lifestyle ever so WHY????? So frustrating!!!

Vent over...

Well I'm pleased to report I'm on the mend! Went to the DR Tuesday and got some meds to sleep at night. Still stuffed up but functioning well thank Goodness. Way too busy to be down and out right now.

So only 4 more sleeps until we go. Did not reach the goal I had hoped for at this point. Certainly tried to but my body did not go along with me. That being said, weight is holding steady, exercise has been good (except missing a few classes due to this sickness) and I'm feeling pretty good. Have 3 new swimsuits to wear on vacation and looking forward to that.

My plan is to stay carb free breakfast/lunch, and have what I want for dinner, plus exercise every day - even if it's just walking on the beach or the Zumba in the sun... They have amazing yoga, step and strength classes, plus water aerobics every day, so no excuses. Plus I will drink a ton of water, and hope to stay the same in the two weeks I'm away. So looking forward to some sun, ocean, sand and time with my family.
