Thanks Mrsg :) he is absolutely a keeper!!

Weight stayed the same this week, I am glad of that though as my intentions to get out walking were somewhat hampered by the adverse weather! Snow, rain and hailstorms along with strong winds just didn't strike me as a great idea! Have been treating my brother this week as his relationship has come to an end so my eating hasn't always been the best, but I have eaten on the beach for most of the week.

Off out shopping with my mum later, then cinema with my brother tonight - looking forward to seeing Avatar in 3D again! For some reason that film always makes me feel inspired to get running again - here's hoping! Happy Easter and have a good week all xxxx

Hi cheshirecat! well just popping in to say hi and have a great weekend. I also love chickpeas mmmmmm, i found soome spicy Indian ones already roasted in a packet but alas i do not think they are legal because of the type and perhaps amount of oil - they are nice for a special treat once in a while though. i am back on track and back on the forum so will catch up with you lots. so happy to read your man found a permanent contract - that will sure relieve some stress. have a great weekend, chat soonxxxx sh

Thanks for visiting Mrsg and Doghouse! So lovely to know that the support is always here :)
I had a great Easter - a little too good! 4lb on this week!! Ready to kick butt this week though (before Gramma needs to come and kick it for me! lol)

Had lots of family time over Easter, my stepdad's dad came to stay for the weekend and also my stepdad's brother and his wife came over for dinner so there were just too many goodies (and lots of left over food!). Toffee apple pie, rhubarb crumble, oh dear dear dear!! And of course chocolate eggs! So of course the four day holiday turned into a big eating fest, and I wiped out the rest of my week by not getting completely back on the wagon with my eating. Here I am to lay out my shame for all to see!!

My little brother has also moved home - when df and I had to move in with my mum after df was made redundant, my bro and his girlf were already living here. His girlf has been completely self absorbed in my opinion and given that my mum has a lot of health problems, I found her a little selfish in her attitude. Well one day she decided to make a fuss about the fact that df and I had moved in, and that it was inconvenient for her. Nevermind that df had been made redundant and that we had had to give up our home, the fact that there were two extra people in the house was inconvenient for HER.

Needless to say, I was less than pleased with this but kept my mouth shut because I didn't want to start an argument, but she and my brother decided to move in with her parents shortly after this. Well it turns out she has been just as awful while living with her parents, and as my brother was the only one working he was having difficulty dealing with her hysterics at 3am in the morning (his girlf doesn't like her job and doesn't turn up there very often - unfortunately she is working at the same place as my brother so it has been a little awkward for him) and he finally decided he couldn't take it anymore. So anyway!! Long story but my bro is home for now, still seeing his girlf but not living together anymore.

So there has been drama over the weekend! And of course, comfort and sympathy eating and drinking to accompany the whole thing LOL
I was reading another thread earlier today and it was all about keeping yourself as healthy as possible to be able to help your friends and family when you need to; well I have been feeling like a total SLUG after all that indulgence, so it's time for it to stop.

I've decided I need to go back to journaling my food again, because although I may be able to eat what I like around my family and friends, I know that YOU will all keep me accountable! I am going to dig out my South Beach book and look up some recipes :)

The other thing is I am having some real problems with my skin and I look sunburnt all around my neck because I am scratching all the time! I don't know if it's allergies or eczema or what, my mum keeps bugging me to go to the doc's but not got around to it yet! I know that there are some foods that disagree with me (like cream for example) and I am wondering if a change in the dairy I eat might help it a little. I really don't eat bread or anything with wheat in all that often, have gotten more used to egg or yoghurt breakfasts so I am going to try out some goat's milk/cheese/yoghurt and see if that helps it at all. Or, I could just go to the doctors! I have tried every type of cream for all sorts of complaints that we have in the medicine cupboard and nothing's cutting it! I should probably take the whole lot with me when I do go, or the doc will be trying the same things over again! lol

Well this has been a super-long post! Making up for my time away perhaps :) love to you all, looking forward to this sunny day on the beach :) one day at a time, Ky

Today's food

B: Courgette and chickpea omelette with green pesto, two cups of coffee with sweetener and lf milk
S: Mange tout and bean dip
L: Mushrooms, chickpeas and chopped Quorn ham with aubergine pesto and goat cheese
S: Yofu and rhubarb with sweetener and vanilla flavouring
D: Two glasses of wine, 3 slices of Quorn ham and a portion of goat's cheese

Exercise - 1 hour walk

Hey Ches, I know for me when I'm struggling, journalling daily here and exercise always, always helps. Especially the visitors dropping in to give me some kind words as well. This board is a true blessing. As far as your skin issue, I know here it's high allergy season with all the mold outside. Have you tried taking a 24 hour non-drowsy allergy pill for a couple of days to see if that helps...? It could be a skin condition but that would be an easy way to rule out environmental allergies... just a thought. Hope you have a happy Saturday on the beach and start posting your menu soon. 8)

Happy Sunday all :) really happy to have had a beachy weekend, even in the face of opposition! You know your family are trying to be helpful, but statements that being with 'I know you're on a diet but...' are really not helpful at all! I had to turn down some freshly made cheese and onion bread, and a selection of ice creams! :D

Thanks for the advice Beaching It :) I am going to do my best to get in a good routine again with the help of my diet journal here, and although I can't afford the gym at the moment and there isn't room here to do an exercise video (besides which they're in storage at the moment!), there's no excuse not to get some walking in with the weather having taken such a turn for the better. My legs are really feeling it just from the past two days! I didn't realise how much fitness I must have lost since df got laid off and I stopped exercising properly.
I did give anti-histamine tablets a go for a couple of days but didn't really notice any difference - I guess if I can get to the doc's this week the mystery will be solved!

Things are going to be difficult over the next few weeks. It looks like the clutch has gone on my car, and so I will need to take df to work in the mornings (he works different shifts to me so will have to drop him off about an hour before I go to work in the opposite direction! Pain in the butt but I need transport in work to do my job. Not looking forward to the extra miles, hoping that it doesn't make it too difficult to get out the door and do some walking when we get home each day. Wish me luck!

B: Goat cheese and tomato omelette
L: Tuna and chickpea salad, tsp natural pb, sf strawberry jelly
D: Haddock with mustard and dill sauce, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. Yofu and rhubarb for dessert.

Exercise - 1 hour of walking

Hey Chessie Pooh! So happy to see you back around here lately...warms my little heart :P

While I know you've got lots going on, I know you will prevail! Your dedication is contagious and why DF and DB is wanting to get their gears going. You're a motivator and inspirational so keep up the good work. With your journaling, I know i'll see those chickpeas around here  Funny that over the weekend DH and I were watching the Food Network channel and saw a soup with them in it and I totally thought about you! Will pass it along to you as I think you'd like it; i'm going to make it next week when I get my crock pot.

Wishing you a marvelous Monday and sending my love your way

Chickpea soup!! Sounds delish :) looking forward to seeing the recipe! Thanks for stopping by mrsg, always puts a smile on my face :)

Today was not so bad, had yet another completely beachy day and feel good for it, even with the sillyness and busy-ness of the day! Felt like every little thing that could go wrong went wrong for everyone around me today, and a little for me as well, but it was ok :) came home, cooked dinner and went for a walk and now dog tired :)

B: Scrambled egg and tomato
L: Tuna and chickpea salad
S: cucumber and houmous (more chickpeas! lol)
D: river cobbler with pesto, broccoli and mushrooms (this was FOUL actually, remember the river cobbler being much nicer last time I had it, and unfortunately the broccoli was just starting to yellow a little round the edges - yuk! The mushrooms saved it ;) and the few teaspoons of sweetened rhubarb I had afterwards!)

Exercise - 1 hour walk

Happy Hump Day Chessie Pooh! I'm so happy you're posting more lately. I've met lots of great super people on these boards but have a special spot for you and GrammaK because you all were the first ones to welcome me here. Love ya for that

Look at you getting all that walking in; You Go Girlie! So proud of you for getting back to 'you' and sounds like you're well on your way to your goal. Will be right here cheering you on. Oh, and as promised, here the recipe I saw on the Food Network channel for the Neely's Chickpea, Ham, and Swiss Chard Soup. DH even said he wanted to try it out so, again, will do so when he buys my new crock pot :| Not sure if you've read he broke my top and I use that thing so often I NEED a new one! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/patrick-and-gina-neely/neelys-chickpea-ham-and-swiss-chard-soup-recipe/index.html

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday, all my love

Happy hump day Mrsg and everybody! :) Doing my best to post here every day to keep myself accountable - it's taken me this long to get on here today (am just off to bed), for some reason it kept saying the site was gone! I was like nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Mrsg, thank you so much for that recipe! I am not sure what a crock pot is (or the British equivalent anyways!) but I will definitely have a go at that recipe sometime, sounds yummy!

B: scrambled egg and cherry toms
L: tuna and chickpea salad
S: small side salad with coleslaw (not great but the best option available)
D: mish-mash! Was picking when I got home and didn't eat a proper meal  but had some houmous, cucumber, egg mayo and Quorn chicken slices - too much protein and not enough veg! I know this and will do better tomorrow, had a bit of a rubbish day and couldn't be bothered to look after myself properly but am happy with myself for not caving in to the non-beachy food.

I was given a bar of chocolate today by a client - it remains on the dashboard of my car right now, and if no one else wants it it will go in the bin.[b] I am strong enough to say no! I also went to a cafe this afternoon with the same client - she had originally said that she would not want to go for lunch while we were out so I had eaten beforehand, but she changed her mind when I picked her up. I watched her eat battered fish and mashed potato, apple rice pudding and a battenberg cake. While I ate a side salad (with coleslaw! ) and drank herbal tea. Needless to say, in spite of my food offences today, I am still feeling fairly virtuous

Exercise - took a rest day today as I needed to get over my bad day by closing my eyes for an hour; back on the path tomorrow!

Good for you on all that walking and staying strong at lunch!!! That takes great willpower and you sound like you're on a great SB path. Keep it up Ches.

Been feeling a bit like it could happen! Been having trouble getting on the site still, finding it very slow today but at least I'm here :)

Loss of about 3lb on weighday (Friday) so really pleased with that - brings me to 198.8lb; not the lightest I've been since starting South Beach, but certainly the numbers are going in the right direction for those clothes to start getting baggy again :)

Been for an hour's walk today with the dogs, which is great while the weather is so good; I'm hoping I'll be in such good habits by the time the weather turns again that those walks will stay as long when it's pouring down!

Today's menu:
S: Clementine
L: Mushroom, Quorn ham and goat cheese omelette
S: Clementine
D: Tofu with courgettes, aubergines and pesto
S: two tsp natural pb

Hi Ches, good job on the weight loss!!! it is inspirational but looking at your food plan for yesterday you hardly ate anything?! clemintines are a little round citrus fruit hey? we call them naartjies here if i am thinking of the right hing .... was your tummy rumbling - were you doing a cleanse or something?
good job on the walk - what kind of dogs have you got. i have a golden retriever - he is 11 months - a crazy thing but love him madly. what is also really useful about him his behaviour is even WORSE when he gets no exercise so I am almost forced for the sanity of my family to get walking!!!
hope the driving is not too bad - and have you been to the doc about your skin yet!?!?!?!? go now.... i am sending my family tomorrow = they are puking and carrying on and we are about to go on hols for four days!!! i of course never get these beneficial diseases where you do not feel like eating and what you do eat does not get a chance to stay on your hips  hehehe i should be grateful i suppose. dh is not loving his so much!
