Postby brandywine1974 » Fri May 29, 2009 1:32 am

Well, I survived the sleep study. The bed was really hard. My hips and back were killing me by 5 am. Won't have the results for another 10-14 days. Cardiologist said I could start doing my chunky girl yoga tape. :D That and I was on once a week visits after I got really sick then it went to 2 weeks then 3 weeks. But she is impressed with my progress and I don't have to see her till August. Just have the pacemaker/defibrillater check in July. So Yeah!!!

So You Think You Can Dance has started back up!! I love that show! I am very excited. Some of those people on there are AMAZING.

Wow, Im so happy Brandy that you are doing so well. You are living the SB way. I definitely need to get my butt back in gear starting today. Today I begin P1 again, day 1. I know it is hard the 1st phase, but I just need to get in my mind to stick to it. I have just let my mind slip on it due to other healthcare reasons. I'm happy to say though that I'm not going to give up, and that I'm glad to be back on track. Have fun with the Yoga tapes!!! I like doing yoga on my wii. Its a lot of fun, though I can't do some of the poses. I do a pretty decent job. :) Anyway, I hope that you have a wonderful day.

Week 6, Day 7

Postby brandywine1974 » Sat May 30, 2009 11:59 am

I got into bed last night and realized I didn't type my post out!! I was beat and very glad it was Friday. :D

Weight: 295

B: the insides of a egg mcmuffin (no muffin), cheese stick, 15 grapes, V8, 1% milk
S: jicama, cheese stick, water
L: (Denny's) chopped steak with swiss/mushrooms/onions, tomato slices, side salad with ranch/no croutons, water. It seemed a little greasy today though. It usually isn't like that.
S: 1 cup plain yogurt with banana/walnuts, water. SOOOOO GOOOOD!
D: (Roja's) Chicken taco salad, water.

Exercise: Just My Size Yoga DVD with Megan Garcia. I love that dvd. I am sure that it is laughably easy for most, but it gives my pathetically out of shape body a work out. I am sore this morning as I type this. So that is a good thing!

Week 7, Day 1

Postby brandywine1974 » Sun May 31, 2009 2:42 am

Well, well, well. Here I am at the beginning of week 7. I know that people are surprised that I have lasted this long. The only other time I had stuck with a diet this long is when I did Body for Life for 3 months. I had motivation then because it was a competition with coworkers and there was money involved. Which, by the way, I won. Shortly after it was over though, I was back to my same bad habits. Funny, my mind set is sooooo different this time around. I don't think of it as a "diet" but a life change. I know this is what all of the old timers on this board keep trying to gently poke into the brains of us newbies. And they are right. I never did kick my cravings on Body for Life, and it felt like punishment. South Beach does not. I don't know if it is the differences in the diet or the difference in the person.

Weight: 295

B: 3 slices of turkey bacon, 5 strawberries, V8, fat free milk.
S: jicama, cheese stick, water
L (Denny's) mushroom swiss burger with no bun, side salad with ranch and no croutons, ice tea.
S: 1 cup of nf yogurt with blueberries and walnuts, water.
D: (Wendy's) Taco salad (just the sald mix and the chili) no sour cream, dressing or tortilla strips, water
S: fat free milk

I was so sore from doing the yoga yesterday. I couldnt' talk myself into doing it today. So I drug hubby and dog out for a walk. I wanted to do a mile, but only made it a 1/2 a mile. Jeeeez. But I broke a sweat and felt nauseated. So I know I had a workout and I know that it was time to stop. This is why people like my sistah PIRANHA amaze me. Oh, well. Baby steps right??? I know I will never be a marathon runner with the bad heart and all, but I will make it to a mile at least.

Achieving goals set for yourself are the goals that matter. I have discovered in just a very short period of time that people do not like change, and even those who love us can sometimes unconsciously try to sabotage our goals. One of those ways is them expecting us to fail. This undermines our abilities. Just keep YOUR goals....they are the ones that matter...not theirs...

I also know how difficult physical limitations are. It is perserverance and the ability to conquer the pain that will keep us moving forward with baby steps....and these baby steps we are taking now will turn into giant leaps as time goes by. I have severe RA, and the pain and limitation of movement in my joints makes walking difficult. But everyday I go out, rain or shine, and walk. I am now walking a mile. I do not walk fast but I walk nonetheless.

This is wonderful site and it is great to read and understand I am not the only one on this planet with these issues.....
Keep your head up and in the right place. You are doing so good. The rewards will be great for us.

Hey Brandy,
I hope that things are going well for you! I am so proud of you for sticking with the plan thus far. You have made it through the worst part I think. I am so glad to have met you on here though for the support that you have given me. Keep up the good work because I know you can do this!

Postby brandywine1974 » Wed Jun 03, 2009 2:06 am

I have been a little disgruntled about the whole freakin' thing today. The creepy crawly weight loss is getting to me. I got down to 295 on 5/17 and have been hovering there since. But I started my period this evening and suspect that has a good part to do with my bad attitude.

Weight: 296

B: 4 slices of thin turkey bacon, a horribly bitter plum, V8, ff milk
S: cheese stick, water
L: (Wendy's) taco salad/no dressing, sour cream or tortilla chips, tea
S: 1 cup nf yogurt with banana and walnuts. This is my new favorite!
D: (Chili's) guiltless cedar plank tilapia, black beans, brocolli, side salad with ranch/no croutons, water
S: ff milk

I notice you eat out quite frequently...maybe it is the sodium content of the meals that is keeping you from dropping....
My advice....throw the damn scale away......do not let it control your day or your moods or your quest to become healthier...
And drink more water...flush all the sodium out of your cells....
Please do not get discouraged. I am soooooo rooting for you to achieve your goals....
