Hi,gramma,I'm onaMi.
I've read back to the beginning of your journal and I feel very blessed to have found your journal.See,i too have always had a problem with potatoes.
You give me inspiration to continue on my journey of getting rid of that Demonic spirit that tells me that i need them.

I have been walking the beach for a week and 2days.I've lost 5 lbs and I'm really happy!
This plan was a blessing because i wanted to loss weight(again) but wanted to do it without eating prepackaged foods (like the lsat time.)

I feel like this is the correct way that i can eat to live the rest of my life. :)
the only problem I'm having is controling my protion sizes of meat.I know i'll get it right, the more I adjust this neww way of eating into my lifestyle. I know i can do this with the help of the lord.
I know that you've not lost any weight in the last month but look how far you've come.and with the holidays almost over you'll get back on track.

Have a Happy New Year all SBer's,my all our dreams come true! :)

HI All :D So good to touch base with each of you here. Welcome OnaMi...I will leave you a personal message in your inbox later this evening (Mon, Dec 28th) so check there when you read this. So glad you found my journal and wrote. Wishing you GREAT success as you begin the most exciting journey of your life---the journey to better health is the most awesome gift you can give yourself and those who love you.

This past year has been the most wonderful of my entire life! I need to share more about that here after my little Godson leaves. He's with us for a week so I'll have limited time to 'play' here but will write a year's end message soon. For those who read this----PLEASE don't stray off, the road to better health is best walked with others who are like-minded and who share like goals. We need one another most when we think we can make it alone...trust me, I know first-hand from being away from you these last weeks. I love you all, you're dear to me and I wish each of you a reawakening of the importance of staying on/jumping back on our get-healthy plans. Together, we are strong! Have a goal-oriented week and let's not wait until tomorrow to make wise choices...let's begin NOW! I'm having a lowfat turkey-broccoli crustless quiche for dinner...NO, not the whole one by myself...LOL! Just a nice large slice with some sauteed mushrooms and nsa cranberry sauce that I made myself. Hugs and prayers for all of us, Gramma

Thanks, Beaching It for the welcome home! Feels so right to be back online here. You're having GREAT success on SB...so happy for ya. :D

From AA thread post, I'm sharing---

Happy Happy New Year to Each of You!
May 2010 find us-- being a special blessing to others, giving much grace and understanding, and experiencing a new joy in our faith, family and friends.
May we each find renewed purpose and meaning as we take our get-healthy plans to the next higher level.

Reposting my challenge to all of us; hoping you'll find time to put some thought to this and share those with us soon. I'll be doing the same in the next days. (DH is STILL off work and little DJ is with us a full week)

CHALLENGE for US---Why not jot down some New Year's thoughts here on AA; share what you learned this past year and what you'd like to achieve/change in 2010. I'll be thinking of doing that as 2009 winds down.

Prayers and love go out to each of you. Stay warm and safe and if you drink...don't drive. I need ALL of you!! Gramma

A thought from OA's For Today devotional book, dated Dec 31st. Thinking how appropriate this is since I've eaten some foods lately that I know are NOT on my plan and I'm feeling all the worse for that---

"The means by which certain pleasures are gained bring pains many times greater than the pleasures." Epicurius

There is no telling what price I may have to pay for breaking my abstinence 'just this once.' It could be nothing at all or a trip back to the pits of compulsive overeating.
But the truth is, I do not have to take that chance. It is irrational to feel guilty about refusing food and drink I don't want. If absolutely pushed to the wall, I can say, "I'm sorry, it doesnt agree with me.' Which is all too true.

I have already paid dearly for the 'pleasures' of compulsive overeaing. Then, when I could no longer pay the price, I surrendered, admitted my powerlessness and turned myself over to the Power that still directs my life.

For Today: No holiday dinner, no party, no celebration can persuade me to give up the freedom I enjoy as long as I am abstinent.

If you too have 'splurged', broken abstinence from any foods that you know are off limits for you, take courage today and know that...TODAY, I don't have to eat anything not on my plan. Let's begin TODAY now! No guilt, just adherence to what we know works. We'll feel all the better about ourselves come evening! Ready, set...GO!!

Amen! Love those thoughts, Gramma! So true!

ps--- especially love the 'it just doesn't agree with me' especially since I currently have so many food sensitivites, it's really hard (especially since so often it's common food and/ or foods I like!), but I am trying to learn to do that...(wasn't very successful at that last month.... having choclate in the house is not a good thing for me for more than one reason...:(...))

Happy New Year's!! Here's to a HAppy & Healthy 2010 for all of us~!
6ft,33, hypothyroid, plantar fasciitis, Sleep Apnea, wifey & caregiver to a hunny w/ Cerebral Palsy, I've lost 80 lbs, 27 more to go!
no longer on Sb due to food sensitivities, but I still eat healthy!

Heard from several of you thru PMs that you splurged over the holidays but you know, if SB was about perfection, we'd none of us stay with it long. I ate some foods that weren't SB-friendly, I loved the taste but not the way I felt afterward (tummy roiling, lethargic, etc) and today, I'm back on track food-wise. Now to get back on the exercise regime. My walking buddy will be back from vacation in Colorado soon so by Monday, I look forward to being on schedule as I was before my month in Ohio and the holidays. Thinking I'll have to ease back into the fast-walking...I can see it now...falling flat on my face after just half an hr!!! Truly though, I am so happy to have found a plan that I can LIVE with forever!! This past year, my cholesterol numbers have vastly improved. I'm down 115 pounds and I FEEL, physically, brand new!! My Dr asked at last visit what was I doing to improve the numbers! He was thrilled and called in the nurses for me to share a brief glimpse of my year's journey. When I think how aggravated I am with allowing myself to eat non-beachy foods the last week, I also have to think of the big picture...the 51 wks of doing most things right. This is not a sprint but a lifetime journey to better health. My feet are planted on solid ground (yes, the beach IS solid [if sandy] ground!!) and I'm moving forward, dainty little lime green polka-dot flip flop at a time...see my tracks in the sand? Come alongside me and let's make 2010 our healthiest year ever!

Everything is right on the beach when we can see the dainty flip flop tracks of Gramma! So good to have you back with us and sharing your words of wisdom and encouragement. What a blessing to not make a NY resolution. No need, we already know what works and we are still here!

Wishing you a healthy, happy New Year and always.
