The secret is planning. I've read some posts of yours and you seem to be struggling with preparing meals. If you are hungry at 1pm, don't throw your vegetables in the oven to roast cause as you've clearly seen .. it took you 2 full hours to finally eat. And that's what I call the dangerous zone .. when you're so hungry almost to the point of starving .. and you're waiting impatiently for your meal to be ready .. that's when we tend to cheat!
Come on .. you can do it! We all can!

Thanks for joining me and for your support maltaguy - much appreciated.

Long story short - I'm Scottish but now live in the Middle East! Theoretically I should be way skinnier on a Mediterranean diet but well I'm not! We do have great open-air fruit and vegetables markets though and if I can get my ass in gear I'll get over there.

My problem is that I run my own business and work from home (for the moment) so my days never ever follow a pattern and sometimes things happen and I have to run.

Listened to you yesterday though and put my veggies in to roast when I went out walking this morning - can you imagine the smell of roasted vegetables at 6.30 in the morning

Anyway by the time I got back, showered, dressed and dealt with everyone else the veggies were ready and I had the most delicious roasted vegetable frittata. I absolutely adore my breakfast every day - never have understood how people don't like breakfast but then I just like to eat - ALWAYS!!!

Today I had it much more together. I knew I was going to be out over lunchtime so turned my morning snack into a a mini lunch (tuna salad) and had turkey roll ups when I got back. It seemed to work. Had my 30 pistachios at 4 and I've now got a big pot of tomato and bean soup bowling away for this evening. I'll have this with chicken and stir-fried cabbage and a salad.

Anyway day 3 almost done and I'm right on track - not a single cheat :P

Hey thanks for that Gemmy - where are you from in Manchester? My hubby's from Manchester. I haven't been there for a few years although his family still lives there. I was supposed to go on a business trip there in January - heard how cold it was and thought better of it

I'm on an SBD high today - we can all so do this. I think it was Oprah who said "nothing tastes as good as thin feels"!

I didn't change my ticker when I started again - refused to go back there - but I'll change it at the end of this week. Anyway, I knew it was true. I know I'd put on a kilo or two although not sure exactly how much - maybe about 4lbs.

So today I sneaked on to a friend's digital scale (which I hope is the same reading as the one I weigh in on on Thursday evenings!) and I'm down at

drum roll

See .. there you go .. it works! A technique that I use to motivate myself when I'm southbeaching religiously in full swing .. is to appreciate that little moment with your scale. Don't just step on it and step down. Look at number .. it's flashing .. it's less that it was the last time ... live that moment to the full .. and praise yourself (even though you feel like an idiot doing it). Take it in, and feel proud of yourself ... and associate that loss as a reward for all the hard work you're doing.

I know this sounds like a bunch of bs .. but it's a technique that works!

Oh boy maltaguy did I ever follow your advice...

Following last week's weigh-in I was really down about putting back some of the weight. It was only about 3lb but it hit me hard and gave me a kick in the butt. I then had two days, Friday and Saturday, of binging which I hated myself even more for and finally got back on the wagon on Sunday.

Five perfect beachy days later I went to my group this evening and I'm down 3lb!

I'm absolutely delighted and hoping that I'm finally moving back in the right direction.

Thanks everyone for all the support this week - it really helped.

Day 8 and I'm doing well. I'm not hungry all the time as I was last week and I'm really enjoying my food.

I had a bit of a slip on Friday afternoon but got straight back on by supper time - didn't cut back on what I ate as a result as I think the best way to handle these things is just to forget about it and carry on as normal. Fortunately it didn't affect me and Saturday was a great day.

Today has also been really good although I probably haven't drunk as much water as I should have done. I'm also going to a wedding this evening and plan to just eat veggies and some meat. It'll be late by the time the food is served so I really don't want to be eating a lot anyway.

The walking is going well and my pace has quickened. I'm going to keep to every other day this week but hope to get back to every day next week.

I'm currently living in Salford. Originally I'm a Yorkshire lass.
Yeah it is cold! In fact it's snowing today! Makes a change from the rain I guess! You're sooo lucky to be living somewhere warm!!!

Hello again!

It's just crazy here, weather-wise - snowing in the morning and sunshine in the aftyernoon, that's what we had yesterday!

Just popped in to say hello, and to clarify that I'm also from Malta but I live in Cambridge now - and please don't mention mediterranean food cause I miss it so much!!

Pleased to hear about your progress, well done and keep it up!

Gemmy, I have some friends from around Salford way and remember spending quite a bit of time there when some other friends were students at Manchester Uni. DH is from the other side, from Cheadle.

Cambridge78, I guess you must miss more than the food in Cambridge LOL - the weather must be a bit different in Malta too!

Thanks you guys for your support. I'm down another couple of pounds this week which takes me below what I was when I got stuck before so now I'm at the lowest I've been for quite a few years. Still a huge amount to go but I'm determined to hang in there.

So here we go again - another start!

I don't have a clue what I weigh but it's a lot - I mean a lot more than I was before which was already a lot. I know I've put on a good few kilos but I don't have a scale. Maybe I'll nip down to the pharmacy later and weigh in there.

Got a stinking cold which at least is keeping my appetite at bay and although I don't feel like eating right now I'm going to force myself to have some breakfast. I have a busy day so probably won't get a chance to sit down to another meal until late this afternoon.

It's hot already here so I can't really take food with me as I'm going to be out in the car. I could pack some stuff in a cool bag but I'm still a little worried about it going off. I've got some nuts and I'll cut up some veggies and hope that they'll keep me going until later.

I didn't walk this morning because I didn't sleep well last night. Stupidly sat up and watched the Eurovision which finished here at 1am. Then I couldn't sleep because I couldn't breathe properly so this morning I look like death warmed up - great impression on my clients!!

Oh come on, don't beat yourself up for watching the Eurovision! It happens once a year only :-) What do you think of the winning song? I liked it, but then of course, Dima is very popular in Europe, he has a solid fan base.

What I hate about Eurovision is the obvious neighbor voting. Like Ireland voting for the UK .. no one else gave the UK 12 points but Ireland did. And there were other countries who did that as well, but I can't remember them now.

My top five were :

Serbia
Russia
Ukraine
Armenia
Israel

Completely agree - Denmark were the last country to vote (I think) and they voted for all their neighbouring Scandinavian countries. Likewise with the various Baltic countries - they all voted for each other.

My list is pretty similar to yours but I had Greece instead of Serbia - in no particular order.
