How were the kids? 4 & 2 are good ages! :D

Are your VBS numbers picking up?? I know ours always seems to pick up at the end of the week.

Another fun day at Avalanche Ranch (this year's theme) ... I'm running out of "western" wear! May just tie on the bandana and call it good tomorrow. Anne, we've had about 100 participating all together, with about 40+ of those being preschoolers - My kids are loving it, so that's good. This, by the way, is NOT the number of kids from my church only ... we have several churches around a park downtown, so we all team up to do one big VBS program. Pools money, resources, and volunteers, and jumps from building to building each year. It's only my second year being involved, but it's pretty well-planned and run.

Nessa, YOU'RE the one who keeps saying you need to use the gym since you pay for it ... I say, cut your losses, cancel the membership, and go to Walmart and buy a set of hand weights. I have a set I paid about $15 for that has pairs of 3, 5 and 8 pound dumbbells, plus I picked up some 10-pounders now that I'm up for that challenge. About the size of a briefcase, fits easily into a small spot for storage, and then is always there when it's convenient for YOU to do. I am broke, busy as hell, and wracked with guilt over time spent away from my kids as it is, so a gym membership is not an option for me. No excuses, baby! Sometimes the obvious (and dumbest-sounding) answers are what work. "At home" is the only way I can make it work for me - perhaps something to consider? All of the above is said with great love and respect, as always.

Had a great afternoon ... took all the kids (and our lunches) out to the fish hatchery, one of my favorite places. Ate lunch, toured the inside visitors center, walked around one of the ponds (it was 90, and they're fair-skinned), then came back and fed the fish in the show pond. Hilarious watching them all crack up as the fry of various sizes (and some truly huge trout) put on a big, splashy show every time they dropped a few pellets. Scrubbed 'em down, bathroom break, then headed back into town. Stopped by a farm shop on the way for some veggies, and they had free slices of watermelon to sample - nice snack for 5 kids (they offered)! Got back to their new house just as the movers were about to leave. Ended up hanging out there for another hour and a half, just chatting and watching the kids run. A nice time! Came home, had dinner, and headed to church for the shortest council meeting ever (less than an hour), and am now home again! Have some truly grubby kids to bathe, then I need to get MY butt to the basement - kids made a truly spectacular mess yesterday, which I didn't discover 'til I went to work out this morning, and felt they needed to clean up themselves rather than me doing it. Lessons learned and all.

Hope you all have a lovely night - go do something fun, wouldja?!

Dang girl! You're on vacation, and already busier than anyone I know!

I don't know how you do it all...

I have a boring day at work thinking about all the things I would rather be doing... Then I come home and make dinner, eat, clean up, say goodbye to DH, work out, clean, and go to bed! Every day... Oh, and get interrupted by fire and rescue runs in there too... (That's the fun stuff though.)

Your days sound much more interesting!

I agree about the gym... I just can't afford that much time away from home/family. I've got the bike, and the bowflex, and the yoga DVD. I try to alternate between the three so I don't get bored with it.

Morning Laura!

Once again I need a nap after reading all that you do in one day - phew!

I am the same with the gym - have a hard time with the $$ and finding a good one I am willing to go to. So I have a set of weights I got at Target, I have a set of Walk Away The Pounds DVDs that I started my exercise journey with, I got the Core Secrets stability ball set as well as a couple extra DVDs to go with it, and then took advantage of the great outdoors last summer and added in biking and running. The $$ spent on the bike & the other stuff added up, but I much preferred doing my stuff here than always having to get my ass to the gym. And the trainer for the bike in the winter worked great too!

We used to go to a fish hatchery from time to time when I was a kid. There was a state run animal rescue zoo type of thing we went to every summer that also had a hatchery. Seeing the "show" when you throw in pellets was always a blast.

Hope you have another good day today!

It's all physics, baby ... a body at rest tends to stay at rest, body in motion tends to stay in motion. The trick is to start moving and KEEP moving!

I am struggling mightily with this so far this week ... have actually had 2 days where I did NOTHING exercise-wise, and I felt awful. No energy, tired all day, just crummy. Made sure I dragged my ass out of bed this morning (mentally kicking and screaming and leaving fingernail prints across the floor), and felt a million times better once I actually got there and started. Copped a BIG attitude, and Billy kicked my ass! Now I want to go walk the dog, but DH needs the exercise, too, so I may do something else later.

Off to make dinner ...

That's how it usually works with me... I'll start working out at the beginning of the week and do well until about Wednesday, and then it peters out. But if I keep trying, eventually, it becomes a habit - or in my case, almost an addiction.

I couldn't sleep last night because I didn't work out... I kept going back and forth with myself... "I'm not sleeping, I might as well get up and just do it!" then... "But it's after midnight, it's way too late to work out!"

Yeah... I just divulged my secret psychosis... LOL Arguing with myself! What is it they say? It's ok to talk to yourself, as long as you don't answer back? Well, I most certainly do, so I must be crazy!

Anyway... TGIF! Have a great weekend!

Hey - look! It's my journal!

(Cough, cough, sputter ... clouds of dust fly through air, cobwebs get blown off the cover)

Boy, I hate to see how far back I'll have to look next time I'm away ... c'mon, people, give a girl some love!

Okay, let's see ... we left off on Thursday, I believe. Friday was the last day of VBS - lotta praisin' goin' on, especially from the tired (but happy!) teachers/organizers! Ran around that afternoon, out to dinner at the Texas Corral (rainbow trout/salad/sweet potato), then home and to bed. Grocery shopping and other errands Saturday morning, laundry and packing, then left with the munchkins to go to Royal Oak where my mom and her husband are staying while they're in town from Florida (DS#1 had a big slumber party to go to, so he and DH stayed home). Great seeing lots of family, and many, many nice compliments on how healthy and fit I'm looking - yay! Stayed with my grandma and her husband that night, then met Mom for breakfast Sunday morning. Brother and his wife and daughter were supposed to come, too, but after a night of their daughter screaming and wailing all night (she's 2 - they adopted her from Guatemala a little over a year ago), they were worn out and feeling half sick themselves, so at about 6am they packed up and headed back home to Dayton. :( DH and DS#1 brought Cypress and met us in the afternoon, and we went to my newly-divorced aunt's new house to warm it and have a big cookout. Big fun! Planned to eat and enjoy, but got carried away with the desserts, so once I got home I got the kids in bed and worked out. Feel better, but still yucky. Sigh. Feeling a serious aversion to anything remotely sweet right now, though, so that's good. :?

Anyway, we're dropping Cypress at the kennel this morning, then heading to DH's family in the Cleveland area for the annual 4th of July gathering - we'll be gone 'til Friday, so not sure if/when I'll get to check in. Already have my chosen DVDs and step/weights packed to go, along with the little DVD player, so NO EXCUSES! Also hoping to log in some coaster time at Cedar Point - I dedicate this trip to Trashy Anne.

A-Rod's June exercise challenge certainly did me some good ... as of Friday I've lost 7 pounds since June 4th, taking me to an all-time adult low of 145.5! Good thing :D - buying new clothes in smaller sizes. Bad thing  - buying new bras in smaller sizes. Depressing, but I'll deal.
Won't do measurements for a bit since I enjoyed the cookout a little TOO much yesterday ... maybe do it when we get back in town. Oh, and maybe pictures - maybe. Tried yesterday, but the camera battery died (cosmic hint?).

Have a terrific 4th, and go do something fun! Off to peruse some journals.

WOO HOO for an all-time low. Wow! You have really been working it these last few months and you should be so proud. Sorry about the shrinking boobage, tho.

Have a safe and wonderful trip and look forward to hearing how it all goes.

My Army son is coming home this coming weekend and will be at Cedarpoint Mon-Wed next week. He and his friends have been doing the virtual coasters getting really excited about the trip!!! You'll have to give your "review" of your trip and I'll pass it on!

Have fun!
