Busy around here ... cleaning, doctor appointments this morning (eyes) for myself, DH and DS#1, a little shopping, back home, more cleaning, cooking dinner, working out (did an hour), and now getting ready to leave for the birthday party at Island Fest. Can't be on the computer much, as MIL likes to sleep on the couch which is in the same room as the computer. No late-night check-ins for me! :(

'Course, due to this, I did get nearly 10 hours of sleep last night ...

Enjoy the night, and have a lovely day tomorrow!

what is it about MILs and couches... my MIL sleeps on the couch too. seems FIL has restless leg and kicks her all night....

seems like everyone is doing family stuff this weekend.

Good morning, all! Happy Sunday!

Just back from church and the monthly pancake breakfast ... remembered to bring my SF syrup this time, thus minimizing the damage even more! Drank 2% milk, though ... oh well. Two pancakes, no sausage (has Canadian bacon before I left), and that's it. Blueberry pancakes ... mmmmm ...

Need to get organized and go shopping - grocery, miscellaneous, and supplies for vacation Bible school for the week. It'll be fun, and good to get back on somewhat of a schedule. I did get up at 6am today to exercise ... that makes all the difference for me, as it seems to up my energy level for the day. Plus, I get to shower and be done, rather than trying to squeeze it in somewhere else - I never, ever want to do stuff after the kids are in bed, so it's been a struggle this week. Learning my lesson.

Island Fest and the birthday party were fun last night - saw lots of people, chatted, enjoyed the music (lots of reggae, natch) and had some good people-watching time. Weed-fest? Ganja-fest? Whatever - people were having fun. :D The birthday cake was an insanely rich-looking chocolate thing, so I had none (DH did - said it was pretty amazing). I tried a steamed banana cake from a Malaysian place with a booth there ... steamed in a banana leaf, tasted like mashed banana and a little flour to help it stay together. Small and tasty! Nice little treat. Couple of Diet Cokes to drink. I am an insane party creature, I know.

Grilling something or other for dinner, keeping it low-key today ... lots of cleaning to do, but I may pick 2 or 3 jobs and call it good. Putting the captain's chair back in my van that's been out since, oh, mid-March. Don't want to rush these things, y'know.

Jeez, this is boring and lame! My apologies to anyone dropping by - clearly I am not in a witty and/or conversational mode at the moment! I'm off to change out of my dress (yes, THAT dress ... worn for the first time) and get moving. Hope you're all off doing something fun and far more exciting than I!

What is it about parents and our issues with them that bring out the worst in us?

This isn't even MY parent I'm talking about here ... and I have been binge-girl today, for no better reason than that my MIL is here visiting and I am completely mental. She has done nothing - NOTHING - to kick off this stupid behavior in me, so I really can't place any blame there. Stupid brain, stupid habits ... I'm so mad at myself. I literally ate myself sick. Actually threw up (though not nearly enough to displace many calories, and no, I didn't TRY to throw up - I ate until there was no room left in my stomach, and then ate a little more).

Clearly I have some issues to work on.

I am, however, taking some positive steps. I made my oatmeal for the week, already have tomorrow's morning snack, lunch and dinner planned and ready to go, and will plan out the rest of the week tomorrow afternoon. I went to the church where we're holding VBS and got things organized, and am just finishing that up right now. Setting the alarm to get up and work out before all the kids get up, and MIL will be on her way before we come home at lunch. I'm trying for one week of totally clean eating - no treats, cheats, or otherwise off-plan foods. I will drink my water, I will work out every day, I will do this the way I KNOW it works. I will not let myself fall and fail. Not gonna happen.

Sigh. Okay. Off to bed. Night, all.

I wish you much luck! You can do it!

Even when they are "nice" to us, parents do still have some sort of power over us, don't they? Plus... Having company in the house shakes up the whole routine...

You'll get right back on schedule and back on plan. Happy Monday!

Hey there! You doing ok? Sending you a hug. Food will get better. We need those reminders of that sick feeling to clean up our eating. Hang tough.

Howdy, y'all!

Well, day one of VBS went well ... our numbers are a little bit down, overall, but holy moley do we have preschoolers! Made my time with them a challenge, especially since I have them at the end of the day. Madness! Fun, too.

Squeaky-clean food and water day ... was up past midnight getting things ready, so opted to sleep in a bit rather than work out. Shocking, I know. Heading down as soon as I post this, though. Bad sugar headache at present (from the lack, after yesterday's OD), so will have some fruit to head it off a bit. Feeling better today, mentally and physically.

Hot and sticky here ... may turn the AC on, though it only cools the one room. Off to exercise! Have a great night, everyone.

Your being so busy, and still finding the time for exercise is an inspiration. Thanks!

Hey, folks!

Busy days ... Tuesday was another morning of VBS, and then our new pastor's wife came to pick up their kids and we ended up talking a bunch. They are just getting moved in (from Vermont), and their truck has been delayed - they got here last Friday, I think? Luckily, they're very easygoing people, so they've essentially been camping in their new house. Ann (her name) called me back once we were home to see if I could watch the kids after VBS today because, after being told Friday or Saturday for the truck, it's now coming TODAY. Yikes! SO I'll be picnicking downtown with 5 kids, then keeping them amused for the afternoon - hoping to go to our childrens' museum, but am open to just about anything! Trying to avoid my house, as they have some dog/cat allergies ... should be fun. :D Thier kids are 4 and 2.

I've been much better on food, exercise, etc. ... actually got in 2 workouts yesterday, as I did TaeBo in the morning (and an 8-minute abs thing), then walked the dog for about 40 minutes last night. I'm about to go down now, but just thought I'd check in.

Anne - so glad you're home and doing well! The "official" ultrasound is so cool ... lots of detail, so we'll be expecting pictures! They've gotten far less stingy about that - you usually end up with a bunch. Bummer to be back in school, though.

Nessa - get thee to the gym, girl! Just do half an hour of weights in addition to the walking of the dogs. Seriously.

Dee, thanks for all your encouraging words ... what color would you like your pompoms to be?

Scarlett, you're doing so well - keep focusing on the veggies!

Wiley, thanks for checking in - I am, indeed, doing better. Loved the pics in your journal, you gorgeous thing, you!

Anne and LB and anyone else I missed, thanks for all your support. Feels like a great trestle bridge under me - no way I can fail with everyone encouraging me!

Off to exercise, then face the day with a smile - must get riled up for "ranch" duties, babysitting, then a church council meeting tonight. Woohoo! Have a wonderful day, everyone!

laura darling

let's map out this half an hour of weights

the gym is only 10 minutes from home but it takes me an extra 15-20 from work because of how i have to get there....

then park and walk in 5 minutes ok so now we are up to 20 minutes lets say...

get in, wait to scan my card walk back to the locker room, find a locker change, potty and get out to the gym... another 15 minuges so now we are up to 35 minutes....

warm up for 10 minutes up to 45 minutes... now we work out on the weights for just a half an hour (which is either arms or legs not a full workout) so we are up to an hour and 15 minutes...

tack on stretching and grabbing my gear to go home we are looking at two hours for a 30 minute work out...

now tell me to dash in and do it....

Hey how is hump day going so far?
