We moved to Pocatello, ID from St. George, UT in June (hence the name of my journal). Never had an online journal before. I'm not even that good at writing in my journal in my drawer, we'll see how I do here.

I've always wanted to do a blog, and because I just don't think I'm that interesting of a person and don't have any big strong opinions to voice to the world, this will probably just have to do. :)

I just signed up for the October Fitness Challenge, which said I needed to have a journal here, so we'll see if I do this right. Guess I'll wait for further instructions...

Welcome!
I just noticed that you signed up for the challenge and wanted to say hi. I signed up for the september challenge (that was my first one) and really am liking it. I have been a part of this site for about five weeks, and that is pretty recent compared to some of the veterans around here! But it is a great place to be to find friends, support, encouragement and almost any information you would ever want! The challenges are a great way to meet others on the board and be accountable for working out and eating well.

I hope you enjoy poking through the journals and getting to know people. The title of my journal is "its kinda fun to do the impossible" so if you want to read up on me there, you can :D

Have a good evening, and once again, welcome to our group!

I thought I would post my answers to the October questions here, so I would see them more.

~ Why did you join this challenge?

It sounded fun, and I want to be able to tell someone about the great workout I just did. My kids (6,3,2 yo) just don't care. Very Happy

~ What is/are your goals over the next 4 weeks?

To keep a full 4 week schedule. I seem to like to take the TOM off from exercising, and then it is that much harder to get back to it the next week. I'm working up to a stronger cardiovascular system. I want to be able to walk up my stairs in my house (carrying my 2 yo) and not be winded. Or play soccer with my boys and not breathe too hard. Just working on getting stronger.

~ Is there something that you see as a potential downfall in your life pertaining to health and fitness and how do you plan on overcoming it?

I hate to say it, but sometimes my downfall is my husband. I just can't seem to get it all the way through to him about this whole thing. (He loves his hamburgers and fries). He doesn't have the time to exercise other than walking the few blocks from his office to campus. And eats mostly like crap! He'll have something good and then offer me "just one bite". The healthy stuff he eats is only because I bought it, but he keeps looking through the cupboards for a treat. And I feel guilty like I've disappointed him because I don't keep it in the house anymore.

~ Is there anything you'd like to let your parnter know about you and how they might be able to support you during the challenge?

Just tell me I did a great job on my workout or my menu (if I really did). I don't get to hear that enough around here. I promise to work hard and be competitive!

Second weigh in for the October challenge: 135 lbs. Up a pound from yesterday, somehow. But I'm not changing my ticker!

Week One Exercise Plan

Postby meemoo » Mon Oct 02, 2006 2:50 pm

I guess I'm starting at 135 lbs. this month's challenge. I'm at that stage where it's the "last 10 pounds" that are the hardest to take off. So I am committed to working really hard this month.

I'm glad this challenge started today, we had friends over for our semi-annual breakfast yesterday and I knew it wouldn't be an entirely beachy day, which is also the reason I'm hitting it hard today. I'm also glad that the challenge ends before Halloween. I don't have a problem eating canndy before Halloween, and I usually buy candy that I don't care for to give to the trick-or-treaters. It's the candy my kids will come home with that I may succumb to. :(

Here's my exercise plan for the week:

M: 30 min. Step Class DONE!
T: All Star Workout (from FitTV) 60 min. Strength/Yoga/Pilates DONE!

W: 30 Cardio class w/muscle conditioning DONE!
R: 30 min. Step class DONE!
F: Missed a workout
S: Day off!
S: 20 min. upper body weights DONE!

Friday and Saturday I will be out of town at my sister's house. I hope to borrow her hand weights on Friday. Saturday will be tricky, maybe I can get up early and go for a walk. I'm not an early riser, so it may turn into a quick weight session.

Off to do today's workout...

I had to tighten to the next belt loop! And that was on low cut pants that sit on my hips! It's nice to see some progress, even though the scale has only moved 6 pounds. I know everyone says that they feel better and everything, but I have to be the next one to testify of it. Before I started SB, I felt gross and bloated all the time, and oh, what's a good word? I guess I felt "thick". I can totally feel a difference in the little things, like crossing my legs, and the way my wedding ring fits.

I just wanted to take a minute and feel good about the way feel. And if you don't feel good there is no way you can look good no matter what anyone tells you.

I'm running out of veggies to eat and I'm going out of town on Thursday thru Sunday so I don't wnat to go stock up just to have them go bad. But we have to go to the store anyway tonight so I'll pick up a few things. I guess I can always take them with me.

My sister (whom I'm going to visit) is on Weight Watchers and she's had great success losing 30 pounds in about 10 weeks. While I'm not sure that I agree with all aspects of WW 100%, (we've argued about it on occasion), the support she gets with the meetings and such have been a great help to her. But it kills me when I see her eat some of the bad carbs even if thy are only 1 or 2 points. I want to ask her why she is choosing those things over certain others.

Oh well, just my rambling for the day. I probably should go back and delete the stuff that answered my own problems, but...

WAY TO GO!!!!!! I'm so happy for you!!! Makes me want to keep going, cause I'm telling you, its hard right now. I've got a midterm tomorrow, homework projects due tonight, and still have an evening lab to go too!!!! Makes me just want to stay home and say Enough. But its not going to happen. And sometime I'm going to do my workout, even if it is really late since I felt better afterwards. So, hope you have had a great day, keep going!!! ttyl 8)

Just calculating my points for the week:

Beach Eating days x 3 points = 18

Workouts x 5 points= 25

Total for week 1 = 43 (until otherwise notified)

Missed a day of eating on the beach and missed one workout. I feel guilty about the workout as it is more points, but hopefully I can redeem myself with the water challenge this week. :D Looking forward to getting home from my sisters house and get back to my usual routine!

Hi there, sorry I haven't been writing!!!! Its midterms week and I have TONS to do, I still can't believe its midterms already. Anywayz, today was good, I'm still haveing troubles with my meals since I don't really have meals per say, just a cheese stick here, some oatmeal there, and apple inbetween classes, that sort of thing. I just dont eat a meal!! Its frustrating. And it is getting cold out now, so I just want to sit at home and read a book or something......but I'm still working at it. Hope your week is going good!! 8)
