I listened to Dresden Dolls, and I liked them. They were different from anything I've heard - I agree with InChristAlone, they sounded like a musical to me. But a cool musical, like Chicago, not a corny one. lol. "Missed Me" was my favorite.

Your menu for today sounds delicious, especially the mock cornbread and apple crisp!! And the salmon - YUM.

Wow, so these past couple of days have been very strange.

First: yesterday, my mom told me she is pregnant. WHAT?! First of all, she's had infertility issues her whole life. Second of all...she's going to be FORTY FIVE this year. She works as a nurse at an infertility clinic, so I of all people should know how bizarre this is. She says she doesn't know if it will work out, just because of all the circumstance...there's a chance she'll miscarry, but we'll see. (but shhh, keep it on the DL[lol] 'cause I'm the only one besides her boyfriend who knows)

Second: my dad got laid off at work today...totally unexpected. They said that they didn't really need an electrical engineer right now. I feel sooo bad for him...loosing his job and his kids are moving out of state in the same week. At least his company is going to keep paying him for the next 6 weeks so he can get a new job. But I just feel so bad for him...it was so sudden and out of nowhere.

On the brighter side...I got my hair done today :)

Well, today's menu was:
B: open faced egg sandwhich with mushrooms, onions, broccli and a little cheese
S:strawberry bannana yogurt; carrots
L:baked salmon salad;mock corn bread; grapes
S: green beans with some mozz ( no more tomato basil hummus =()
D:parmesean chicken; spaghetti squash with mushrooms, onions, yellow onions, and broccli
Des: fruit pizza

And went to the gym and ran/walked for 35 min...didn't get to finish though 'cause I had to get to my hair app.

Sorry about your dad. It's great that they are paying him while he finds another job though. Good luck to him! And good luck with your future sibling! ;) I saw a grandma on the news who is pregnant/had a baby- she is like 60! So, your mom's situation isn't that bad.

Is the mock corn bread made with flour or? I was thinking about trying it.

I hate when I get my hair done 'cuz it looks so perfect and then a few days pass and it looks like I never got it done! :? I make sure to take lots of pics on those good days though.

Yeah, I love Bettie Page! I didn't really discover her until I got bangs, then I saw her hair and said "hey...that's just like mine!". :P I like old school pin ups in general (they have curves! lol). Have you heard of http://www.Pinupgirlclothing.com ? They have some great stuff! I have access to their wholesale store too! I love their dresses.

Have a good day :D

Thanks :)

My mom called me this morning after she took a blood test at work, and she said that her numbers were actually really good (higher numbers=better pregnancy). She was expecting in the 100s, but it was in the 300s. It's so crazy though, because if she does have this baby then when he/she is 18...I will be 36, almost 37...wow.

The mock corn bread doesn't have any flour...it's made out of beans of all things. I thought it was surpirsingly really good...even my dad said it kind of tasted like corn bread before I even told him what it was. Here's the link to the recipe if you do decide to try it: Mock Corn Bread

I hate when I get my hair done 'cuz it looks so perfect and then a few days pass and it looks like I never got it done! I make sure to take lots of pics on those good days though.

I know what you mean! They always make it look so good, and then when you go to do it, it never looks the same. &it esepcially sucks because all my hair stuff(blow dryer, straighter, curling irons) are in NY...so I'm like, okay I have to keep like this for as long as possible...but my mom comes into town saturday night and she should have a blow dryer at least...so that's good.

I just got bangs yesterday too! I wasn't planning on it, but when my hair lady went to do my hair, she was like "you know what, you'd look really cute with bangs" so I told her to go for it. I think I want to put another color in my hair though...like pink or purple or something but I can't decide if I want to or not...hmmf, what do you think?

I know what you mean about old school pin ups...models these days look like they have little boy's bodies...no boobs, no buts, barely a waste...'tis a shame. That website is so awesome though!!

BTW, congrats on loosing another pound! :D

Cool, are they side swept or in the front? I wasn't planning on getting them either! About 2 years ago I went to get a normal hair cut but I wanted to show them a pic of what I wanted. Well, the pic was of a girl with really cool layers, I showed it to the lady and she understood (or so I thought) that I wanted just the layered look. Anyway, she ended up giving me bangs and I wanted to KILL HER, lol. I was so mad, 'cuz the last time I had bangs was when I was like 5 and I hated them then too. Turns out that everyone loved me with bangs and they 'grew' on me. Now I love 'em and I have had them ever since, lol. Maybe I should go back and say thanks?

What color is your hair now? Blond? I would so do a pink. I wish I could but I have dyed my hair black so much that I am pretty much stuck with it. I have had every color in my hair (streaks) and my fav. was hot pink. Go for it!

BTW, congrats on loosing another pound! :D

Thanks :D And thanks for the recipe, it's great that they don't include flour- I hate wasting my starch serving on little stuff like that or desserts.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, I hope that he gets a new job soon. And I hope your mom has a good pregnancy and your future brother/sister is healthy!

You should get purple streaks!! But then again, I'm biased, because purple is my favorite color. And bangs rock. I have sideswept ones, and I got them the same way you did, because the hairdresser told me I'd look good! lol.

I think I'm going to try the cornbread soon. I'm making the black bean brownies tomorrow, have you ever tried those? I hope they're good... my mom thinks I'm crazy for wanting to make brownies out of beans!

ICA- They are bangs in the front. I think I've had everything possibly done to my hair before. I've had it long, spikey with bangs, chin length, now it's a little passed my shoulders...bangs in the front, side swept bangs. I used to have black hair too!! But now it's blonde...I've also had purple, blue 3 times, red, orange and burgandy in my hair. I loooove changing my hair, but it really sucks because I have an allergry to a chemical that is in virtually every hair dye other then bleach and unnatural colors. Which is why my hair isn't black anymore....but I like being blonde because I can put more color in my hair. (but it took like 4 hours to go from black hair to blonde hair). Anyways...what I was thinking about doing is taking pink(since i've never had it in before) and dying the underneath layer of my bangs so it kind of peeps out and then dying the layers right around my face pink too. And then maybe do something with my the tips of my hair...in my mind it seems like it would be cool if i could somehow do pink and purple on my tips but I don't know how I would go about dying it to make it look good. hmmf...decisions, decisions.

BTW, I know what you mean about not wanting to waste a starch on little things like that :D

SF- thanks!!
lol, purple used to be my favorite color...I had it in my hair at one point...it was pretty cool cause it was nice and bright.
I've never made the black bean brownies before...you'll have to tell me how they come out. I have made the vanilla bean cake and that is really good with a cream cheese frosting and then some melted peanut butter on top. But I don't blame your mom for thinking you are crazy for making brownies out of beans...I was really skeptical at first lol, but the corn bread is definately yummy. I ran out yesterday...I'll have to make some more. AND it's really cheap to make...since I already have most of the ingredients it's like a buck for the beans.

SO, today I made the chili bean bread...blech, I ended up throwing it away...it sounded so yummy though. First it was really squishy, which bean breads usually arn't. I didn't put any almond meal in it though so maybe that's why. But even more then that it was just really bland. Oh well, I'll make some more corn bread tomorrow. I LOVE this stuff because it makes it seem like I am eating another grain when it is really just beans and such. good stuff.

Well, today's menu was:
B:berry french toast oatmeal
S:cherry cheesecake yogurt; carrots
L: white chicken chili with half a piece of chili bean bread; vanilla bean bread with some peanut butter
S:grapes
D:3/4 cup egg beater omelette with:mozzerella, mushrooms, onions, scallions, red peppers; 2 slices turkey bacon; jicama homefries with 1 tbsp ranch
Des:probably fruit pizza with apples

I didn't get to get my full workout in again =( I really need to work on giving myself enough time. I only got 28 minutes on the elliptical and like 5 or 8 to do some leg strength. But, it's better then nothing. I really want to weigh myself...I havn't weighed myself in like 3 weeks I think...I can't wait until I have access to a scale again.

HEy BC buddy!! I've been sorta catching up on your journal and it sounds like you have a lot going on, but you're still in control!! That is awesome! I am also hoping good things for your family. I have a friend who was worried at the beginning of her pregnancy (she's 33) and she took her numbers a lot in the beginning, but she just gave birth to her first daughter and she is as healthy as can be! :D If its meant to be then everything will turn out just fine for your mom! Best of luck!!

BTW i vote for hot pink (i have always dreamed of doing this, but can't b/c of my job)...i'm an undercover rebel!!

Yeah, I was a blonde once too... believe it or not, lol! Some people actually thought I was better as a blonde...but it was too much to keep up with. Dying my hair was my favorite thing to do. Great hobby when you're bored ;). I recently tried to bleach the black out of my hair- yeah, NOT a good idea for me. Obviously it didn't work and I am still recovering from the damage. I will have to get it professionally done- wow, it would be so expensive 'cuz my hair is pretty long. One time, I actually fell asleep with bleach in my hair! It was in my hair from like 8pm-6am. I don't know how my hair survived that one- whew! It took me like an hour to wash it all off, it got really gooey and hard...lol.

Talking about this has made me want to try something though... I like your idea, I think you should do it. The bang idea is great. I would just do the pink on the tips so it all matches, but purple would be cool to add too. Just be patient with it and it'll turn out fine.

Hmm, I just realized I still have bleach and pink dye at home from a while ago... I could try bleaching my tips and if it doesn't turn out good, I can always just get them cut! Sorry, I don't want to copy you though, so maybe I'll get a different color! :P

I think you're doing a great job with your workouts. That's a lot better than I do!

hahaha  Good thing I don't work, and probably won't be for a while. Thanks, btw!!

InChristAlone wrote:I recently tried to bleach the black out of my hair- yeah, NOT a good idea for me.

lol, yeah, I got mine proffesionally done. It was so expensive, and my hair was only about level with my chin. And my scalp was so sore afterwards because of all the bleach. But, it was worth it, because I was not about to let my blonde roots grow out until the black was gone...would have been hideious(sp?).

I'm thinking that if I do the tips of my bottom layer of hair purple and then top layer of hair pink it would blend together well...but i'm not sure. But, then again, I have two different layers in my hair, so maybe I shouldn't do that. If my hair was one layer it would be cool..but with two layers it wouldn't work. But I definately think I will do the pink...yay, just gotta go buy the stuff now.

Sorry, I don't want to copy you though, so maybe I'll get a different color!

lol, it's not like I am the first to do it! You do whatever you want, lol :D

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

MMM, I just finished my lunch and made more mock corn bread...I love that stuff. I was just watching the Food Network while I was eating and Paula Dean's show was on. It's so funny how she'll take something that is normally healthy and turn it into something that is so incredibly bad for you. Like, she was making green beans with potatoes(which is pretty healthy). But then, she put this huge hunk of bacon grease (that she says she always has in the kitchen, just for the record) in the pot before she puts the green beans in. Then once everything is all cooked she adds 4 or 5 big slabs of butter...nice  And then she has the huge fruit plate for dessert...and then in the middle caramel butterscotch dip or something like that. She's so funny.

Today's menu is:
B: oatmeal with 1/2 cup vanilla soymilk, cinnamon, and apple
S:carrots
L:chili, mock corn bread, orange
S: green beans and hummus! yay
D: ww pizza with ricotta cheese, lots of veggies, and mozz; side salad
Des: berry smoothie probably...or maybe a parfait

Not sure if I'll be able to get to the gym later on today...we'll see.

Ooh, pink will definately look cool. And you have made me want WW pizza now!! I think I am going to have to make some this weekend.

BH, I have a question for you. We're both about the same age, and I was wondering... do you tell your friends you're on a diet? And what do you do when you're forced into awkward eating situations? Cause, people look at me funny when I eat my salad at lunch instead of cafeteria pizza. And soo often, I feel wierd, almost rude, turning down pizza at a party or not eating a cookie my friend baked. Anyway, just wondering if you had any advice for this!

lol, well I won't be having WW pizza anymore...I made 1/2 for myself and 1/2 for my sister...I ended up eating the entire 1/2 of pizza +1 piece of my sisters  BUT, it was yummy.

The only friend that knows is my best friend...but I know exactly what you are talking about. My best friend always wants me to go eat at like the pizza hut buffet or somewhere not healthy with her even though she knows I'm on SB. She's really skinny and can it whatever she wants, so it doesn't matter to her. But she's always like "c'mon just this ONCE!" And I usually don't come right out and tell anyone else...unless they are telling me about them dieting or something and then I'll tell them 'cause then I know they can relate to me and understand where I'm coming from. My best advice for you is if they ask, just say something like "Trust me, if you knew how bad that stuff was for your body in the long run, you probably wouldn't be eating it either" or just a simple "I'm trying to eat healthier" would do. I feel awkward telling people I'm on a diet so I would just stick with eating healthier, you know?

My mom and her BF come in tomorrow night...I'm SO excited, I havn't seen her since x-mas! And then we're going back to NY...SO excited about that too...been waiting since october or so and now it's finally official.

So, my mom told one of her sisters and her mom and my dad about being pregnant. My aunt didn't believe her at first, and my grandma and dad were shocked. My mom is usually one of those people who doesn't really eat until dinner time, and she said her BF is making sure she eats 3 meals and eats fruit and stuff...it's so cute. Well, I am sleeeeepy
