I have to agree...Slipknot is right up there with the best shows I've been too. Did he make everyone kneel on the ground at the one you went to? or the rotating drum set in mid air? Pretty awesome. I'm supposed to go see Mudvayne with Korn later this month with my mom, so that's pretty exciting.

The thing that bugs me about the new Used album is the fans that came with it...you know, the ones that heard their song on TRL and are all the sudden in love with them having never even heard their first album (which is a million times better). ::sigh:: Oh well...

I think we might have kneeled...hmm, I don't remember lol. Last night, after I replied to you I was feeling soooo old! That was 6 years ago- I can't believe it  ! Anyway, I do remember them having some kind of explosion on stage- it was really cool. The clown (forget his name, Paul was it?) was in my face the whole time, lol. And one of them jumped into the crowd and kicked me in the head! It was great because it was a Halloween show where everyone was dressed up in their costumes and you could only get in by winning tickets from the radio station- I got lucky! Ooh, I haven't listed to Korn in a loooong time ... I think the last album I listened to was 'Follow the Leader'. Cool that your mom is going! Wow, this has brought back memories...

Yeah, that 'TRL' thing has happened to lots of bands I liked (see the past tense there?) Most of the stuff I listen to either is not played on the radio (YET), Christian (Emery etc.) or old stuff - LOVE STP! I saw that you like the Red Hot Chili Peppers- have you ever seen them live? I saw them live right when Anthony cut off all of his hair and dyed it like white??? Every one was so shocked, and I was bummed but it was a great show. My favorite band used to be Bush (haha)...until they had to get all weird. I met Gavin (the ONE time I forget my camera!!!) and he seemed nice..but now he is trying to act and not doing a very good job, lol!

Stay beachy! :)

Wow, that is so cool that the only people there were the ones that won the tickets! The concert I went to was in the huge stadium...But the kneeling thing was pretty awesome...I think it was when they played Pulse of the Maggots...but he was just like "I want everyone to kneel on the ground...get the f*uck on the ground!" and everyone did...it was crazy. But then, there was this huge drum solo on this hydrolics machine where the drum set lifted off the ground into mid-air, and then it turned vertical and started spinning...it was pretty amazing. I went to that show with my mom too...and then two other Nine Inch Nails concerts :)

I've seen RHCP live once...right after he cut his hair too! I was in 4th grade I think(I've liked them since I was like 6). It was sooo awesome...because it was this small tour they were doing before they started their big tour, so it was in this pretty small venue. Well, I had went with my parents, and the security guards saw me and saw that I couldn't really see anything, so they put me up on top of the speakers to sit so I could see better. IT WAS SO AMAZING! And to make it even better the drummer through a drumstick directly to me, and Anthony actually walked over to one side of the stage and handed one to me. It was so cool. Then RHCP were here last summer for Vegas' centenial celebration, and they were doing a FREE concert. The catch was you had to go onto the website at a certian time to try to claim tickets before they were all sold out. This girl was supposed to get some for me but never ended up giving them to me...I was so mad :( I really want to see them again though.

I pretty much never listen to the radio either...I mean, some of the stuff I listen to is on the radio (like NIN, Nirvana, RHCP, Slipknot) but all the new stuff I usually have no idea what it is. So then that leaves me with either stuff that is more obscure (like The Dresden Dolls[very cool band], or Mindless Self Indulgence, Bright Eyes, Cursive, etc) and older stuff. I especially like bands that are different...that keep you interested. Like, if you ever listen to Dresden Dolls they only have a keyboard and a drumset (and sometimes a guitar instead of the drums) and they have this caberet type rock 'n' roll. It's really awesome and probably like nothing you've heard before...

Have a good day :)

I ate so much last night...all SB friendly, just a lot. I'm so happy that I feel better now...I can finally get back to the gym. This past month it seems like I've barely been there. Between being sick, finding out that we have to move and actually doing it within 4 days, unpacking, repacking stuff to go to NY, and getting sick again I barely got to go. So hopefully when I move to NY I can find a gym pretty quick so I can start going again.

Well, today my menu is:
B:3/4 cup egg beater omelette with broccli, asparagus, bell pepper, mushrooms, and a little mozz&turkey pepporoni
S:a few carrotts, white chocolate strawberry yogurt
L:chili;mock corn bread;grapes
S:not sure yet
D:chicken stuffed with sun dried tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions; brown rice; mixed veggies
Des:double chocolate fudge pie

My best friend is coming over to make dinner tonight, so that's why I'm having the double chocolate pie :)

Hey, thanks for the advice in my journal. The test is on March 18- so I don't have too much time. I have to call them by the 14th to confirm so I may ask her what the course consists of. I am just curious what in the world they want me to do in 60 seconds. I will probably do what you said and bump up my interval workouts, that will probably help.

Great to hear that you are feeling better. Good luck with your move...

Thanks to our conversation about Emery, I went to their site and found out that they are coming to D.C. in April- I have been dying to see them! YAY :D

Have a great night! Enjoy that double fudge pie ;)

Thanks :) . That's so awesome you get to see Emery...have fun!

Ok, so I am really proud of myself. Last night I went to this kids birthday party and there was tons of alcohol--which I had none of. And there was tons of junk food (pizza, breadsticks, 3-4 different types of chips, salsa, popcorn, etc)--which I had none of also. Well, I did have a little sliver of teriyaki beef jerkey and like 4 cornels of unflavored popcorn(at least it tasted that way). And I didn't even want any of it...the only time I wanted some was when I was reallllly bored because I knew like 2 people + my best friend. But, it was pretty entertaining to watch this drunk kid fall everywhere--at first. Then he got really annoying and I remembered why I don't really like parties all that much. So all in all, it was an alright night, but I am really proud of myself! :) yayy

I didn't get to go to the gym yesterday 'cause I was supposed to go with my friend (which I don't usually do) when she got off work, but when she got off work she didn't want to go anymore. And at that point I had to make dinner and such. I didn't end up making the double fudge pie either...just peanut butter cheesecake pudding...which I think would be more enjoyable for me since I'm not the biggest chocolate fan.

BUT, today I really want to go to the gym. Hopefully my dad will let me if I do the dishes and clean up mine and my sisters room. We'll see though.

Today's menu is:
B:1/2 cup oatmeal with 1/2 cup vanilla soymilk, 1 tbsp peanut butter, and an apple sliced up(yummy)
S:not sure...maybe some yogurt
L:last serving of chili;mock corn bread; grapes
S:green beans with tomatoe basil hummus
D:not sure yet...might make a nice dinner for my dad and sister
Des:probably smoothie

[quote="sugarfree1"]I found your journal! I must say, you have good taste in music. Nirvana is classic of course, and RHCP is one of my favorite bands. I'm not so much into the screaming, but I love Cursive and Bright Eyes. My friend loooves the Dresden Dolls, and I've wanted to hear some stuff by them. Which songs do you reccomend?

and I noticed our pasts are similar. I used to be a dancer, taking classes for hours and hours every day... then I quit, started eating more, and got fat. lol. anyway, that is awesome that you resisted all that temptation at the party. you inspire me! :)

(p.s. I tried to edit my post but ended up posting a new one...)

I'm with you on the screaming part...I mean some screaming is okay(like with early The Used stuff, or Slipknot, etc), but this whole new hardXcore scene is horrible. You know, the kind where they scream the whole entire time and can't understand a word their saying. And then to top it off, it sounds exactly like everyother hardXcore song. ::shivers:Blech...I hate it.

So, you've never heard anything by Dresden Dolls before eh? Let me just forewarn you...it's probably unlike anything you've ever heard before...but really really good. Probably one of their best songs IMO is "Missed Me". It's really dramatic, and if you just listen to her voice and what she is saying throughout the song it changes so much...it's kinda like she's playing two different parts. I dunno if that made sense...but yea. Also, "Coin Opperated Boy" was a single...really good too. Hmm, I like "Girl Anachronism" <--(where I got the title for my journal :D ), "Bad Habit", "Good Day" is really good and a bit slower. They have tons of songs, but I don't know them all...I really want to go buy their CD. Tell me what you think once you listen to them! :)

Glad to have inspired you...I don't think I've ever inspired anyone before! lol :D

Well then... no ZAO for you! They don't scream the ENTIRE time but probably more than you would like. I can understand what they are saying though, once you listen to it enough you can, and the lyrics are great. And if we can't we make up our own words and it's fun! They are about the best band out there though really [in their genre]. My dh is a guitarist and respects them greatly for their creative talent- their music is complicated unlike others. I don't know which bands you are referring to (hardxcore??) but they are different than the others out there and they came out way before most (if not all) of them too. :) But everyone has their own opinion ;).

I listened to the Dresden Dolls, and they are definitely different. It kind of reminded me of a musical or like they were in a play ... I thought Cursive was pretty good though, one song kinda reminded me of Jimi Hendrix. Man, music is getting really different than I'm used to!

hardXcore music is this scene that is happening right now...& IMHO is horrible. More so the scene then the music, because frankly, I really don't like scene kids. The music is kind of like a take on metal music...the actual music part is not what I have a problem with, what I have a problem with the screaming throughout the whole entire song. I like screaming in songs...but in small parts(like for maybe the chorus or something) but nothing changes it's just screaming over and over and over again. And it doesn't sound good (at least to me). It's just not my taste, and like you said everyone has their own opinion. But I'll still listen to ZAO(you never know, right?) once my computer gets set up when I move...(I'm using my dads now and it doesn't have speakers).

Dresden Dolls sometimes take some getting used to...I had heard of them because my mom's ex-boyfriend was the lawer for the record company they signed with, and my mom said she didn't like them. Well, the opened for NIN, and I really liked them...My mom actually started to like them too after I started listening to them. That's what most people say when they hear them...that it sounds like music from a carnival or something. But, that's what makes their music attractive to me...it's so different then anything else and is very dramatic. But I love Cursive...which song reminded you of Jimi Hendrix??

Have a good day :D

I think it was 'A Red So Deep' by Cursive. The guitar in the very beginning of the song kinda reminds me of some of Jimi's live stuff.

ZAO takes some getting used to as well. I didn't like them at first, it was a bit too crazy for me, but it is dh's favorite so eventually I liked them and like turned into love- especially after I saw them live. Let me know when you do get around to listening to them, whether you hate them or not ;).

So, how are you doing on your goals? Have a great night!
