I haven’t disappeared from the map or abandoned the site or SB way of eating, but have been having issues with being dumped from the site every time I try to move between screens – seems to be an issue with the protection settings and I cannot change it – new workplace policy that impacts even our web cruising over lunch hours!

I wanted to drop by to say I am sticking with it and doing well, but will likely be able to only check in on weekends now. I am very busy during the week evenings – major commitment to my hobby – have literally dozens of baby snakes that need care this time of year, so no time in evenings for posting or reading boards. Sorry that I will not be much of a support for people in the 100 day commitment, but I intend to stick with it – keeping those goals in mind.

I have been eating on plan, sticking pretty close to phase 2 since I last posted. I have been trying to go without the food journal because it was getting to be very ingrained as a habit – and I have found that I don’t need to track things to stay on track. Breakfasts are either Kashi, skim milk and V8 or eggs, spinach, salsa and v8. Lunches are protein, grain, and tons of veggies. Dinners are like lunch expect hot food and we don’t seem to be having a problem sticking to plan.

Exercise is going well – I have been continuing to run on treadmill 3 times a week and do elliptical twice a week. Weights are 3 times per week with yoga on Sunday mornings. I will be doing my first outdoor run this weekend to prepare for the 5k run in November. I am actually looking forward to it. The old body seems to be holding out well – few blisters have healed and I got new shorts to run in, so feeling fine. We are off to get new shoes tomorrow night.

I am losing weight but more slowly lately. Down to 157.5 and dropping inches as well. Feeling great in clothes these days and saw a picture that someone took of me on the weekend and realized I no longer look fat!! It was incredible to see myself as a small person – still a ways from the goal, but no longer really round. I was at a hobby show on the weekend with several friends who have not seen me in a year and they were very complimentary so it was great reinforcement to stay on track. Of course travel is a real challenge – never drink enough water, didn’t eat enough because it is so hard to get good food and I could only pack so much of my healthy stuff, but still I did ok. I am certainly committed to the South beach way of eating for the future – it is such an easy diet to maintain – feels great.

I will close for now – hope to be able to update weekly from now on –

I had to share that I did my first outdoor run yesterday. I have been training on treadmill and with elliptical for about 7 months now and last month decided that running a 5k would be a good idea - hope I will have hit the 50lbs lost mark by then - it is in early November. So after moving up to actually running on the treadmill - we did our first outdoor real run. We went 3.4 km in 23 minutes, so pretty happy with that. I wasn't dead at the end of it, but quite tired.

The course is a gentle rise for the first half and I was thinking it would be easier on the way back - til we turned around and headed into a pretty strong wind. No wonder the uphill hadn't felt that hard. Other than being cold on the ears (10 degrees C here) - it was a great feeling. A bit sore today, but we are going to be going for outdoor runs weekly now in preparation for the run in November - just wanted to share a success

Food is on track and haven't lost a lot of weight, but down some inches since last month and overall doing well. Water consumption is on track, most meals strictly on plan - same routine. Few treats - nothing out of line, but need to balance, but for the most part we are eating SB.

- I will be back to the forum on weekends -

BB!! I know you won't be reading this until about a week from now, but I want you to know that I still look at you as such and inspiration. You keep so well to plan and man, it is paying off for you!!!

Wishing you and your baby snakes well. Do you sell them?

Thanks for stopping in Sachinda - it has been longer than the week since I stopped back in here - hectic work schedule with lots of travel as well as hectic hobbies and not so much computer access - everything conspiring against me keeping up with the on line journal.

Even though I haven't been here, I have still been sticking with SB eating - dropped a few pounds in the last month and fitness is going steadily upwards - training actively for a 5 km run early November and losing inches overall - so I am happy. Seems that this has become quite a good habit and with cardio 5 days a week, yoga once (and short sessions after cardio), and weights 2-3 times a week, I am staying on track. I will have lost the 50 lb goal within my first year, and am happy with that - will put me close to where I want to be and I am adjusting to the slower weight loss that comes after the first major loss.

This board has been very helpful, but I no longer feel the need to journal my food consumption - there are a few diversions but it is basically on track - again some good habits formed - plenty of water, a lot less caffine, balanced meats with fish and tons of veggies, averaging 2-3 grains a day, 2-3 fruits too. Feeling very much on track.

Exercise has been great - we are doing outdoor runs now - really fun and getting pretty good times too. Much better than I would have expected. We are planning to continue training through our vacation (to New Mexico later this month) and hope to be able to get a decent time for the 5 km run the first week of November. I have committed to posting a before and after picture along with my 5 km time on the forum when done - that may be the nex time I get back in here - but did want to check in today and report that all continues to go well.

I do think of the great people that I interacted with here for the time that I was in boot camp and doing the challenges - wish everyone well,

cheers,

BB
