I'm really getting frustrated with my lack of ability to run well outside. THe first mile is bad. I have to stop and walk pretty early on, but then I am better. I do 2miles and I stop a few times, walk a little and then run again. I think it's that I'm going too fast (which is quite laughable actually) because on the TM I can go for at least 2-2.5 mi without walking at all.

Soooo I'm wondering what to do.

A) keep plugging along
B) Start somewhere in the middle of C25k outdoors and use that to get better.

I think I'll post this and get some advice....

Don't get discouraged! It's twice as hard to do stuff outside as it is in the gym. My boyfriend, a lifelong runner, also says that he finds the first mile to be really difficult. And he's Mr. Oh-I-Can-Run-5-Miles-in-40-Minutes-No-Problem. :)

Hell, if I can finish a 6-mile hike, anyone can do anything!

P.S. -- We were supposed to weigh in this past weekend, right?

Doing better on the outdoors running front. Actually had a really nice run w/DBF on Sunday. We ran together, he showed me cool houses on the route he usually runs. Somehow I managed to keep up pretty well. He is actually better at running slower so I was able to run waaaay more. I didn't stop at all the first mile which as I've said is the worst for me.

I'm also feeling much better about the business trip, thanks to PapaB's advice. I should be able to stay on track with food and running. Also I'll bring some workout CDs for my laptop (tae bo and pilates I'm thinking).

I think I've lost weight in my face- I feel like I look slimmer overall. I still don't have a scale and the one in the gym is not the most reliable. But one is coming as a wedding gift. Should be here any day now. Yeah, this wedding gift thing is AWESOME!

Hey Peep! How goes it!?!? I did a walk relay last August and one of my legs was 6 miles... I thought I was going to die! I think it is easier to jog/run than walk that far... I am glad you can run with the DBF! It is nice to do things together. Unfortunately, my DBF can't go to ballet class with me!

OK weigh it was 144.6 I still have to program the thing to tell me body fat. I've heard these scales are somewhat accurate- at least it will give me something to track.

Yesterday I didn't work out cause of cramps and general tiredness. Today I'll do some running. It's hot again so I'll use the treadmill. I find that giving myself alternatives really helps me get something done. That way it's not all or nothing.

Job situation is still annoying. I'm starting to apply to other places though. Hopefully something will come up soon :)

I found a running club near me that meets a couple of times a week. I'm really excited. I talked to the guy and he said it was all very casual, show up and run. He assured me there would be others who would run/walk. So that takes care of twice a week!!
This is good, this is motivation. I feel like I'm doing something good for myself, and it actually feels better than joining a gym.

Let's see... food

B: moatmeal, coffee
S: none, had breakfast late
L: salad w/tomatoes, ham, cheese, tuna, carrots/triscuits
S: skim latte
S: pb sandwich, plum
D: salmon w/greenbeans and cous cous
Dess: hot chocolate

Yesterday was my first day with the running group. It was very laid back, just 4 people and the coach. We ran 2.4 miles I think but there was some uphill in there. I did pretty well, though I will admit to some walking.

I am tired and a little stiff from last night's running club. But it was a lot of fun. The people were very nice and friendly. I was at the back, but managed to keep up pretty well. It's always inspiring to see people who are older or have health issues running really well. There was a lady holding her inhaler but she tooootally kicked butt in the running. Even ran extra to make it a full 5k

Unofficial weigh-in: 142.6!! woo hoo down another pound. :D

Karen, you definitely need to find a boy that can keep up with you! Running, hiking, all that good stuff. If you date a couch potato you will just leave him in the dust!

DBF and I used to be total couch potatoes but fortunately we both decided to change around the same time.

So this is a totally non-SB related post but I need to vent!!! My job just seriously stinks these days. I never really wanted it, just kind of had to take it cause I was unemployed. It does have it's good days but lately they are few and far between. It's just total drudgery and busywork with no autonomy any more. My last project was much better, but this one stinks and it is dragging on and on. I definitely want to take steps. No one is hiring inside right now. I guess I will have to look elsewhere. I am at the end of my rope. Every day is misery.
I am trying to hold it together but all i can think is get me out of here.
