A trip sounds like just the thing you need right now. Some warm temps would be nice too!

Back from Florida...it was a good visit with mom...we got along and I actually had fun!!!

Food was mostly good, and overall better than the few weeks before.

Weight this morning was 210. Not bad, given all I've been doing.

Details later, but I wanted to rescue my journal from the depths.

Tough love....I probably need it, but I'm not enough of a masochist to ask for it.

Haven't been here in a while.

I just wanted to see if I can post a link to the great shirt I got at Coldwater Creek yesterday. I got the coral color, but I can't link to that. Bought a couple of other shirts, a jacket, and 2 pairs of pants, but this was the best.

Here it is:

Yay for retail therapy! Is there a Coldwater Creek in Natick? I haven't been there in forever but seem to remember that there is. Nice purchase!

Hope you are doing well. How did DSS do with the testing this week? I suspect the kids will be off the wall today with it being Friday and the testing being over for now.

I'm here. I just decided to get honest and join the five week challenge.

Other than food, I'm doing pretty well. Getting ready for Passover, which is a lot of work. The part of it I don't want to lose is the spiritual part. Some time this week I want to sit with DH and plan the seder we're leading. It's my family, plus two families of friends that don't know each other, with a pretty wide range of Jewish knowledge and observance. I'm thinking of coming up with some discussion questions that will hopefully work for everyone. So far, I've mostly been food focused.

DSS is with his mother right now...from last Friday after school until next Wednesday afternoon. It's a welcome break. DH and I had a good weekend. On Friday we had dinner home and watched Little Miss Sunshine. Saturday we went to synagogue, took the dog for a long walk, and went to dinner and an art show with friends. Sunday we cleaned and separately ran errands and then I went to an ice cream party at a homeless shelter that I organized for the synagogue.

Tonight is a 50th birthday party for an old :P friend. It's at a Japanese seafood and sushi buffet. Yes, I'm going to have some sushi, but I plan on keeping my total quantity of food reasonable.

I have to make some progress on the Israel trip...take the next step with the travel planner and do a rough outline of the trip for my cousins...and us.

Gotta go get ready for work...and weigh myself.

Sounds like you had a nice weekend with DH. Good luck as you work on all of your Passover plans.

except for the spring cleaning part and the sedars I do NOT miss passover.

I actually gave pause at the hospital the other day when they asked my religion. I felt guilty saying Jewish... I don't practice anything any more.

I'm glad you joined the challenge

Nessa,

Being Jewish isn't just about how much you practice the religion. From what I've seen, you're knowledgeable and interested in the culture, history, and people...even the religious practice you don't participate in.

Had a good time last night at the birthday dinner. I ate a bit more than I'd planned, but did pretty well overall. I made 2 trips to the buffet, but both times I didn't overflow the plate, had a bunch of vegetables and salads :) , some sashimi and smoked fish :) , and a few pieces of sushi  . Also, a glass of white wine.

I think this challenge has refocused me already. It was very easy to not eat before bed time last night. This morning, I took more care in choosing clothes and getting primped, which usually goes with weight loss.

Scale was actually up 2 pounds from yesterday, but I'm not taking it as a sign of anything.

Crazy things happening with DSS....he and his mother are struggling, and he called DH asking to come back home instead of staying with his mother this week. We think he should try to work things out with his mom, but do you tell a kid he can't come home? The ex thinks DH is totally unsupportive of her relationship with DSS and sees everything as a conflict between her and DH. DH thinks DSS is testing his mother, and her earlier threats to not see him unless he did certain things she wanted. DH is trying to figure out what's best for DSS. Right now DH is waiting to hear back from DSS's therapist to discuss the situation.

IMO don't let him come home. He needs time with his Mom. Just an outsider's unattached POV!

Salt in the sushi is why the 2 lbs up! It'll go away - drink lots of water and flush it out!

So is that why they say Jewish is a race and not just a religion, what you said in the first sentence of your post? I know so many Jewish people who are not religious at all. Maybe go to temple for YK and RH but that's it (similar to the Christians attending church at Christmas and Easter, LOL).

Update...therapist had time available this afternoon. The ex is taking him there after school. I'm not sure if it'll be to meet with him alone, or with him and his mom together, but I think it's the best course of action....we'll see what happens from there.

Yesterday afternoon was totally crazy with DSS and his mom. At first, the mom refused to do the scheduled joint session with the therapist, since DSS refused to agree in advance that no matter what happened he'd stay with her for their planned time together. She left the therapist office and left him behind! DSS called DH to come get him. DH showed up and talked to the therapist, who at this point had another client. They decided to stick around until the next break. Then the mom called DSS and told him she loved him too much to give up on him (So why had she left him behind at the therapist's office?). She showed up, they talked with and then without the therapist, and he finally went with her for the evening.

Hopefully, he's now with her for the rest of the week through the beginning of Passover, as planned.

I hope it's all ok with the biomom.... I would never trust ours to keep my stepdaughter for more than a couple of hours....
