Jess's P1 Journey

Postby Jessicarn76 » Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:14 am

breakfast- cold egg custard

lunch- O'Charley's black and bleu caesar salad, no croutons... whew. those big fat delicious rolls sitting in the basket on the table and I didn't have even ONE. Score!

Dinner- salad with salsa, avocado, boiled egg,
lean steak (although it was laura's lean, I did end up cutting a lot of fat off of it, yuck)
2 eggs

snacks: 3 mini pb cookies (this could be a downfall)
pb/fudgesicle/whip dessert- oh my.... heaven.

fluids: one glass of decaf splenda-sweetened ice tea
32 oz powerade zero.

notes: need to get some v8 or something to drink with breakfast
need to lay off the pb a bit I think.
more fluids

Hey! It's my favorite black-belt P1 planner! Props to your Preps again and welcome to the journal page! I love PB so much I'm scared to even MAKE those cookies. I save my PB for bedtime, even though I want it All Day Long. Huge score on those rolls, too. You should get a prize. I think our tastebuds might be related, your whole day sounds beachylicious. :D

b-egg custard
l-spicy beef/cabbage/spinach soup- YUMMO!!
ff cottage cheese with splenda
d-salad with beef, avocado, egg, light shredded cheese, salsa
snacks-pb cookies (glad when those are gone!), fudgesicle/pb/cool whip delight- wow again, I could so much of this stuff, but I limited it to one!

water: 64 oz
exercise: 30 min with my trainer who always kicks my a$$

Worried about tomorrow. I'm at an all day meeting where they serve yum pastry carbs. I don't do well with a lot of temptation. It'll take me 45 min to get there so I might bring my handy custard with me and eat it in the car before I go in. idk.

God luck in the meeting. I face that ALL THE TIME at work. We work long hours much of the year, and they'll frequently bring in pizzas for dinner if we're there after 8 or bagels for breakfast if we start at 7 or box lunch sandwiches and cookies and pasta salads for impromptu work thru lunch things. Here are some suggestings, although I admit I have trouble myself:

If you know about it in advance, take a yogurt with you and turn down the pastry. If anyone looks at you, just say you're cutting back. If it is more unplanned, sit as far away from it as possible and if asked just say, no thinks I have plans later. Itnt oonly gets you past eating, it might prompt folks to move the meeting along so you can get out! Keep a baggie with some nuts in your purse. If you can't stand it any longer, watching folks eat while you sit there, excuse yourself for a moment and scarf those down in the nearest corner.

Remember WHY you want to lose weight.

Eyes on the prize, not on the pies!!!!!!!

b- egg custard
s-half bagel, two bites fruit
l-cup of tomato artichoke soup, chicken caesar salad
d-very very bad

So usually I leave my house at 7:30, go to the hospital to see patients then eat my breakfast when I get to the office.
TODAY I left at 6:45, scarfed down my egg custard before I left. Drove the 45 min to my meeting. Checked in, chatted up some venders and there all carbs lie.... Initial thought- screw it, so had my half bagel and fruit. Then I thought darn. Thought to myself. That's it. No more. Lunch was super good. Meeting lasted until 5:15 then I had a training class right after where they had dinner catered. I was done. It was over. I was bad.

Day 4 of sb- epic FAIL.

Back on tomorrow :/

Ha! I ain't so old that I can't see that teeny tiny font!

Ultimately, it's your decision.

Good news is that tomorrow you get a do-over........so.......do it different! :) No need to blow the rest of the night though.

today was much better

b: 2 deviled eggs
l: grilled chicken salad, a slice of deli roast beef and slice cheese
d: 3 scrambled eggs, 2 turkey sausage links, salsa on the eggs
s: nothing yet, plan on the pb/fudgsicle delight!

fluids: 32 oz splenda sweetened decaf tea
24 oz water
can diet mt dew-- I plan on drinking it and pretending it's a sugar full pina colada! It's been on of those days!!

crazy day at work. made me want to EAT CRAP when I got home but I didn't. I stopped and got the eggs and sausage from bob evans and brought it home to scarf down before going to a hair appt.

notes: needed more veggies today but at least it was so much better than yesterday and I didn't give in to emotional eating like I wanted to!

Jess, congrats on a good clean day! BUT..... you NEED veggies! You are headed for a constipation bomb, dearie, if you do not get some veggies in there. Besides, you need the nutrients. SBD is not a crash diet, it's an approach to healthy eating. Without the carbs provided by the veggies your metabolism will stall. Avoid carbs long enough and your hair will begin to fall out. You need the vitamins. You need the iron in the greens. You need the micronutrients in the yellow and red and green veggies.

With SBD, you healthily eat half a cup of veggies at breakfast, two cups at lunch, and two cups at dinner. These are minimums. One day without isn't an issue, but please think about planning ahead and maybe have salad premade, or cook some squash or apsparagus or any other P1 veg this evening and carry it with you for your lunch tomorrow. Think about veggies you need for tomorrow's dinner and preplan the meal.

I'd just like to see you succeed at this, and getting a handle on the principles of SBD are the first step.

The fudgesicle sounds delish, though, I have to admit! Good luck.

Peace,

- M

Thanks Mike for your input. I'm going to the grocery this weekend and will stock up on more transportable veggie and some v8.

Hey Jessica!
I know you like to cook in advance like me, so if you like spinach and feta you might like the greek spinach bake on the Food and Recipe page. I just made it for the first time and it's going to give me a lot of veggie servings I can just pull out of the fridge and heat up to go with my chicken and beef. I made it as written because I've been looking for recipes I can make out of Frozen veggies when I'm out of fresh ones that will give me Major veggie volume. SB has got me running to the store every 5 minutes for more veggies, I'm getting tired. Anyway, it's pretty good, would be Really good with fresh spinach but the whole idea was to find something I can pull out of the freezer to make and then pull out of the fridge to eat. I think it could use a little more garlic and Something extra, I'm not sure, maybe a shot of hot sauce.

M-mock oatmeal
L-grilled chicken salad
Spicy beef/cabbage/spinach soup
D- turkey Cobb salad with olive oil/balsamic vinegar
S- fudgesicle delight

Fluids: 64 oz water

Woohoo! I feel it was a good day. I went to a retirement dinner tonight where everyone was ordering yummy adult beverages, panini's, sweet potato fries and I stayed on it. My salad was really good and filling and I don't regret it! Went to the grocery tonight , stocked up for the meals next week, plan on doing some do-ahead cooking this weekend, lots of veggies and a 6-pack of v8 to drink every morning :)

Sounds like a great plan. I'm still waiting for that weekend where I come home from work and don't leave my house again until Monday morning :). Getting up early tomorrow to go walk in the Race for the Cure. A good 3 mile walk for a great cause. I'm hoping to make that spinach bake when I get home. Then it's off to an ultimate frisbee game tomorrow night. Our first, should be interesting. One of my daughters teachers is on the team and he formed a frisbee club for the 4th graders so she's pretty excited.
