They will draw blood on Saturday at the lab. Appointment is next Thursday. I doubt they'll reduce it this time, maybe next time. The blood test looks backward about three months, and there is a month of really bad eating at the front end of that period that will skew the average up. I am hoping they grade on a curve.......

I took Wyfe and Princess to dinner last night. Found out that my favorite Pho restaurant is closed! You take a few months off from eating noodles and they lock the doors, sheesh. Ended up at another Viet restaurant, I had pork with mushrooms and skipped the rice, so it wasn't too terrible for me (except the sodium...) Then took everyone to the ice cream place. I wanted a hot fudge sundae or a chocolate malted milk shake, but settled on watching them as they ate. Wyfe and I were going to walk home from there (about a mile and a half) and just have Princess drop the car at our house, but a thunderstorm was rolling in and I draw the line at walking on a busy street with no sidewalks on a dark and stormy night.

Go get 'em Mikey. As a health care provider, I can tell you that there are way more people who are happy to take the medication, than people who will actually make the lifestyle changes that they need to make to get off it. The opposite is true of pain medication, btw. I am always surprised at the people who will actually take the narcotics so that they can get on with life. To extrapolate very liberally, on the whole, people are more likely to choose to suffer real, actual physical pain than to change their behavior with regard to food and exercise. You are one of the few, the proud the South Beachers! So go on and take the oxycontin! Wait...

LOL if you knew how many small bottles with three or four percocet, darvocet, oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc I have in the med cabinet that was prescribed and NOT taken, it would scare you. I just don't take the pain killers any longer than I MUST when they hand them out. Even after they cracked my chest open a few years ago, I didn't take the pills more than four or five days after I got out of the hospital. (I mean, after you've had morphine, it's not like darvocet is going to touch the pain anyway!)

Mike

I also have many of those leftover pain killers. Not good- most give you constipation! ;)

How is it going for you? I have been away (which is what I do when I am feeling guilty and /or stressed out), but am trying to get myself to come back. I am a perfectionist, and therefore tend to slide at times, after which I hide to lick my wounds (all self inflicted). BUT, I am back and looking forward to your (always fun and entertaining) posts!

So UNFAIR, send them to me.
I have this:

AND a new broken toe and only two hydrocodone left and too poor to go back to the doctor (because of the skirt and the books and the new nightgown, I admit).

Damn girl you made my distals scream out in sympathy agony! What did you do to yourself, jump out of a moving car????

Okay, I realize suddenly that you are maneuvering to get me to ship you my leftovers if you get to 215 first. But I think that is probably illegal. Nice try. Besides, I am going to have to take something for the sympathy pains. Dayamn!!!!!

Holy s#%$...... , bethy, when the hell did that happen? No slippers for me. I have enough trouble with bare feet on level ground.

About the drugs, don't let anyone know you have them, somebody will break into your house! Very common here to have homes of us elderly broken into, esp if they watch and know you've had surgery. Those pills could probably pay my son's college tuition, or at least his books! They've been doing recycling days here where the police dept. collects unused prescription drugs. I have a few left from my daughter's wisdom teeth episode. Idiot dentist gave me a prescription for 20 vicodin. I filled it for half and we only used about 6 cause the girls was FLYING, laughed hysterically for 3 hours straight. Never seen anything like it, had to wean her off after 3 doses. I hid the rest, definitely need to donate them next time they have a collection day.

Bi-malleolar fracture. Well done. You did a really good job! So when you hit the floor did you try sliding backward on your butt, to "get away from" the pain? It doesn't work, but the body will usually try it.

When I was doing volunteer EMT work in the midwest a thousand years ago, we saw a few tib-fib breaks like that, usually in head on collisions and on football fields. Never seen the xray of a restored one though, til now.

One day we'll have to compare scars.

wh...my witty and engaging remarks disappeared. Mike-I will win scar contest (trophy and big gauze bouquet). Chris-forget the job market, sell drugs. Teens-I didn't get to do the backwards thing but I did almost pee on my dryclean only nightgown. I love physiological do-dads like that.

Went to the doc today for my regular diabetes checkup. The blood work they did last weekend measures the last 3 months of blood sugar levels. Last time it was 8.8 which is pretty horrible. This time it was 6.7 which is considered in the controlled range but high in that range. I'll take it! All due to eating right. next time I am shooting for a 6.0 or so. If I can keep this up I may just keep my eyes and toes til I am 70.

Weight was UP from 3 months ago (have mercy on me and don't ask, Bethy) but they took me down a peg on one med that actually makes one gain weight. So one more excuse gone, and another appt in 3 months.

Great news! You're on your way to getting healthier and getting off some meds. Definitely want to keep your eyes and toes, and especially your kidneys - dialysis is something I wouldn't wish on anyone! Fantastic!
