Mold allergies are my worst among several. I tried the shots for a while. I ended up with mold allergies PLUS bruised legs. Now I just suffer through it with the help of over the counter stuff. Once or twice aq year I go to the doc with a full blown sinus infection. We've gotten to the point that I just tell the PA what I have, how I know, and which antibiotic and decongestant work best for me. Somehow I think I deserve a cut of the copay for the self-diagnostics.

I just wish they'd put the "clear" back in the Claritin.
Here's the deal: I don't get to open the Zabar's box until I totally clean out the refrigerator.
I will be grateful I'm not cleaning out Mikey's freezer while I'm doing it.
And I'll do a really good job.
(there's nothing bad in the box, just coffee, fish, vinegar)
(Chris-you noticed it was Mikey cleaning out that freezer at midnight, right? I wish SWMBO would get fat and get in here.)
Although. S *did* make me a new pitcher of tea last night before I even realized I was out  . And a surprise bedtime snack.
He's stepping up his game now that his sister's played the ultimate "lookie what *I'm* making her" card.
Go.
Kitchen.
go kitchen!

B-spinach thingie
L-cheated and opened the box. One slice of fish and a deviled egg half. shouldn't have gotten it, now every fiber of my being is crying out for a bialy to go with it. you know what would really be good? a cold roasted new potato  Pandora situation for sure.
s-two deviled egg halves, waiting for the grill to get ready. (edit: right here's where I should have been making the salad)
S-steak, maybe 8oz. salad later when I'm not so full. should have had the salad First. dumb. smelled so good though. We'll just play like I'm on the Atkins diet today.
Late snack: spinach and lettuce salad, oil and vinegar, blue cheese.

(tomorrow, more veggies less protein)

Actually new potatoes are semi-legal for P2 because of their low starch content. That's what I tell myself when I make red potato salad! Do not mention bialys or bagels, please. You can get some rye triscuits, they'd be OK. Or some of that really dense wholegrain bread you were eating the other day.

Mike, I hope your PA subscribes over the phone for you by now. Mine usually does when it's something silly like a sinus infection that she knows I can diagnose. I've just been cranking up the A/C once in a while to clear the air, and using my neti pot when it gets bad.

Oops, that's PREscribes.

okay, I won't mention the B words if you don't mention Tryouknowwhatscuits. I love them. I want some right now. I'd be 2/3 of the way through the box before I even slowed down.

Wednesday Weekly Weigh-in
219. Not happy after two weeks at 218, but not freaking out either. (Will freak out at 220)
I had six martinis, one glass of wine, and two ice dreams this week.
And a whole lot of meat and eggs yesterday.
Otherwise, eating is fine and exercise is fine, assuming I make it to the pool today.
My main goal is: string some weeks of pool compliance together.
I'd like to nix the martinis. H comes home on friday and infects me with his enthusiasm. He's worked hard all week, looking forward to weekend cocktail time out on the porch. Sometimes I say no and then cave when he fixes his second one. We'll see. It's pretty easy to say no to friday's martini on wednesday. At least they didn't lead straight to almonds last weekend.
b-One and a half spinach thingies
s-3oz milk
L-salad with hb meat, oil and vinegar
s-coffee cup of cantaloupe/yogurt smoothie. half before and half after the pool.
S-mmm. smoked sable on rye with a smear of creme fraiche and a squeeze of lemon. AND several spoonsful of cold soup samples from Zabars. Cucumber/tomato/yogurt was the best. Even H loved it so he got most of it. Gonna look for the recipe. Had some kind of Japanese teriyaki sauce that starts with a K in it.
bed with a fat new library book snack-two PB celeries.

Note the grain AND fruit. (the creme fraiche was negligible and totally forgivable, given the very occasional special occasionness of the fish, but now I'm thinking it sure would be good in some BB chili.) Anyway, I may need to ratchet up the P2 foods b/c
I felt Absolutely Wiped Out in the pool. Like P1 wiped out. Only did half my laps. I dunno what's wrong with me (apart from lack of exercise) but I think I'll start trying to make my pre-pool snack something Solid and see if that helps. Like maybe an oatmeal cookie  I've been thinking about these oatmeal cookies I used to make on P2 before. They started out semi-beachy. WW flour and that brown sugar splenda blend and I'd throw in some almond meal and then I'd cancel all the beachiness by dumping in a whole bag of heath toffee chips. They sure were good though. I'd just have one before the pool with a tea latte. I can't believe I had discipline like that back then. Maybe it will come back. Along with my energy.
Couldn't find a soup recipe online that has the same ingredients as the sample :(

Maybe you should skip the laps completely and just walk to the nearest bakery. Exercise AND cookies!

Smoked sable!!!OMG, love that stuff, haven't had it in years. Used to have smoked sable sandwiches for lunch when I was very young, even brought a few to school and cleared out the classroom when I opened it (didn't have a lunch room!). I love smoked fish but rarely buy it because I WILL eat it all in one sitting with a half loaf of bread.

Oatmeal cookies made with splenda must be toxic. There's no way that can be good for you. And what do you do about the missing butter?? Frankenfood, that's what it is.

Definitely not in good enough shape to walk into bakeries yet. Went into a 10 minute fugue state just one sentence ago between "bakeries" and "yet" trying to decide if I could have just one bakery item what it would be. Too hard.

Easy peasy. If I could only have ONE item from inside a bakery, it would be...... the spare key to the front door.

It would depend on what kind of bakery it is. Many choices that I will not talk about. Need to stop thinking about things I shouldn't have. Need to focus on good healthy foods.

What kind of veggie dish would you choose if you could have a really talented chef cook for you? We seriously need more restaurants to focus on healthy foods that don't come in portions for anorexics. I would love to walk into a restaurant and see some outstanding veggie dishes. How about something layered with eggplant and portabella mushrooms?

I am *really* walking on the wild side here: Two slices of bread. Two Days in a Row. I'll probably gain 5lbs.

b-spinach thing. half cup of skim milk (in my coffee)*
L-bb chili w/ creme fraiche (less than a TB, not much less), large salad w/ a little meat on top, b/c, oil and vinegar.
s-two deviled egg halves
S-whole hamburger on rye with lettuce, onions, mayo, mustard. Half a cup of gazpacho.

Mikey, you nincompoop.
Chris, vegetable chef. hm. well, first I'd ask him to bring his brother the shellfish chef along and cook me a lobster and pick all the meat out and clarify me some fat-free lemon butter. I'd ask the veg guy for a summer squash souffle. I had a great aunt that made those and I had the recipe but lost it and cannot duplicate it or even find a recipe that's half-way similar. It involves flour and butter but how often do you get your own veggie chef? Then they could get together and whip up some kind of beachy crab-stuffed mushroom caps. And that soup I had yesterday with cucumber, tomatoes and yogurt. I want some more of that already. It had some tiny stick-like things in it that must have been cucumber but WHO could cut cucumber that tiny? They were like this: I And some real good ratatouille. Michelin stars good. And they can be thinking about how to make SB onion rings while they're slicing and dicing. Tomato aspic with green olives.

*It just occurred to me that I should say (in case my journal ever becomes a cautionary manual for how not to do the SB diet) that along everything else I do wrong, I put real cream in my morning coffee. About 2T per day. Every other calorie containing thing that goes in my mouth goes on the list. Almond quantities may be exaggerated, omitted, or vague. Today I was out of cream. Tomorrow I will be too. Darn. After the coffee I drink iced tea for the rest of the day. 2 gallons every 3 days. Which is why I don't drink enough water.

I hate drinking water. Well I did until a frantic search for decent water flavouring threw up an America company called L3 Home, who make 'Crazy Drops' which are really, really concentrated water flavours sweetened with Sucralose. They are a life saver for me, even if I have to get them imported. I guess it's bad etiquette to post links but you can Google for them.

I'm also desperately in love with Da Vinci sugar free syrups - which mercifully are available in the UK if you know where to look. If I had to import them I'd need a 2nd job!!! I sodastream ice cold water, add Amaretto or Irish Cream syrup and that's my evening treat.

OK drinking a litre of water before bed can be a bit of a bad idea if you're not into nocturnal dashes to the bathroom  - but at least I'm properly hydrated!

OK, now you come clean about the cream  One of my former bosses used half 'n half in his cereal every morning. His heart was fine, the manhattans he drank every day to excess killed him.

I'll go for the crab stuffed mushroom. I'd go for the crab stuffed anything actually. One of my favorite dishes at a local restaurant involved a bed of spinach topped with a generous layer of crabmeat, then a light cream sauce and what I think was swiss or jarlsberg. Like a crabmeat florentine. It could be made beachy with some laughing cow or lf cheese. Sadly they only make it as a special now, once in a while. I'd make it at home but cannot get one kid to eat spinach and I'd need too much crab to feed everyone. These kids bankrupt me.

You don't need a seafood chef for lobster. Easiest thing in the world. What you really want is someone to clean it for you and clean up the kitchen!

OK, add crabmeat florentine. And oysters florentine. And someone to clean the lobster and the kitchen is Exactly what I want. And pay for it, that's the most important part. If I had a free mastercard I wouldn't have Any trouble coming up with plenty of beachy things to eat. I'm SO lucky I don't like sweet flavors in my water, just tea bags. Although, if I did drink them, I'd probably get more water because sweet tasting drinks make me thirsty. Ew, half and half on cereal? That's just gross. You can see why he needed a few stiff drinks to wash it down.
Su! thanks for visiting my journal. Please come back. It's not food porn ALL the time. Well, it is, but come back anyway.
I'm off to refill my creamless coffee and see if my 5lbs are here yet.

My 5lbs are still up in the holding pattern. I've been on the phone All Day with my father who decided my Command Performance visit this weekend would really be more convenient for him Next weekend. I hate telephones.
b-last spinach thing and I'm out of feta
L-last hb patty
I have serious concerns about what's for supper but I'm not going to the store until I have a comprehensive and well researched list that will result in the kind of shopping trip that provides mulitple meals for multiple days. I've totally backslid into having to run out for one or two things every five minutes. Told family we will eat what's in the house until this list is achieved. Just got an IM from my son saying he just ate a hotdog bun with Biscoff spread.
s-One Serving of almonds. I swear. The secret is to wait till H has eaten all but one serving out of the can and then pounce.
S-Taco Soup, so glad I put a little in the freezer for times like this, and fage
s-two chocolate squares. and now I'm out of those too.
The grocery list is already a whole page. I wish I woke up before dawn like Chris.
