One Day at a Time....

Postby Ana3512 » Thu Dec 22, 2011 2:28 pm

Hi Everyone,

My name is Ana and I am 35 years old and I am starting SBD Phase 1 today. I know it is a crazy time to start a diet but i think it will be okay, because now i will be more cautious when eating the "holiday food". I didn't want that to be the reason for not starting a better woe. I started exercising at the beginning of the month and I think i am now ready to measure each and every bite and be accountable. I will keep this journal update as much as I can, i know coming here and reading others messages is a big motivation for me, so i think i will be here a lot. I will post for sure once a week, the weigh-in day. Thursday will be my weigh in day.

I have done SBD in past, so I know the basics of it but if you see anything that i am doing wrong, please correct me :) I will be using the recipe's here for getting all the requirements in.

As for the goals, the first one is to stick to the following plan for eating and exercise:

Diet
Breakfast: Protein + 1/2 cup vegetables + 1/2 cup milk + 1 tsp olive oil
Snack: Protein + Veggie
Lunch: 3 oz protein + 2 cup vegetables (including beans)
Snack: FF yogurt + nuts + 1/2 cup milk
Dinner: 3 oz protein + 2 cup vegetables (including beans)

Exercise
Burn at least 500 calories on Elliptical

In terms of numbers: I am 223 today morning and first goal is to be under 200, that will put me in Overweight category and out of Obese category.

So far today, I had a good breakfast - 2 eggs with spinach and coffee with milk.

So, here I go, one day at a time, hoping to make a change :), would be wonderful to hear from anyone else in the same place or the experts :)

Hi Ana,

Your plan looks good to me. I'd just like to say, don't be surprised if you don't get the same results on phase 1 this time around. This is my second time on the beach and I definitely didn't get the same results the second time through during phase 1, but phase 2 has done it's job. I started at 216, and am now hovering between 148-150. I didn't even do much exercise until I was down around 170. I wish I'd started from the beginning! I'd also recommend you do some resistance exercises in addition to your cardio to keep muscle loss to a minimum. I run intervals on the treadmill Mon. Wed. and Frid. and walk hills on Tues. and Thurs. and don't get anywhere close to 500 calories burned (closer to 300 on my big days), but I don't do more than 30 minutes of cardio work each day, then add weight lifting/ab work/body weight resistance as well. The weights have made such a change in the way I look even though sometimes I think they are keeping the scale a little higher, but who cares if I'm tighter and smaller, right? Looking forward to reading about your successes!

Thank you so much for your message Veronica! Its really sweet of you to write in my journal, your stats are amazing!! I hope i can say that at some point :),,I would be so happy when i am below 170!! I am sure its a lot of hard work and patience.
Yeah, you are right i might not get big results in Phase1, but thats okay because any loss will still be a loss and will be better than otherwise! If I didn't start SBD then I would be moving towards gaining for sure, so atleast it will put a stop on that!
I will get some 8/10 lbs dumbells for the strength training, i agree it will be helpful. I have a stability ball that i use for crunches, so i am using that in addition to the elliptical.

Smaller and Tighter sounds pretty good to me ;)!! I would take that any day :)

Really thanks a lot for posting here, it is great to find buddies here and talk to someone here and your success is pretty amazing, congratulations!

Merry Christmas Anna and welcome back to the beach! Sounds like you are motivated and have the right attitude with the holiday season upon us. Good for you! I've been around a few years and still trying to get that last 10-15 1bs off! I'm a big exerciser too and work out at least 3x a week, but my new years challenge is to up that to 4-5 x a week. I will be doing a new stint on P1 in the new year to knock off recent cravings and start from square one again. I'm looking forward to that.

Keep up the great work and have a great day today, south beach friendly. Visit me anytime in my journal for support and encouragement. I've found posting in here as often as possible has really provided me with the help and support I need. I can't do it alone. :D

Hi Everyone,

A very very Happy New Year to you!! I am back and starting up again. Had a wonderful time for the New Years and am ready to get back to reality now :)

Weighed in today morning and its still the same, that is a good thing, that means all the festivities did not increase my weight and i am happy about that but now time to see the scale moving.

I started my day with spinach omelet and coffee and already had a snack - walnuts. Will go grocery shopping today and stack on the veggies for the coming week.

Thanks for your message Beaching It, i will pop in and see how you are doing :)
