Hopefully getting leaner with SB Diet

Postby boxer » Thu Apr 07, 2011 5:10 pm

Hey you all!

I'm 27 years old female, 5' 7''. I'm not overweight (this morning 137 lb), but I feel like I need to loose some weight. There are couple of reasons:

1) 9 months ago I was still 130 lb and I want to get back to that! If I don't do it now it will be even harder later.
2) I do amateur thai boxing and I would like to compete in 125 lb weight class.
3) I want to look good in my bikini.
4) I want to feel lighter and fit easily into size 6.

In the past 2-3 years I have tried low carb and paleo "diets" or "eating habits". Even though I lost weight these diets didn't feel good. First of all, my stomach wasn't working properly and I couldn't eat things that I really wanted to eat. Second, I hate calculating calories or grams! Third, because I workout hard and intense I need to get some good carbs to recover and keep me going! Fourth, I got some serious urges to eat lots of sweet things e.g. ice cream/chocolate. And after I ate those sweets I felt huge disappointment about myself, plus my body instantly sucked all those carbs inside and I got very swollen.

Anyway, I'm looking for a way of eating that is healthy but also satisfactory plus gets me into my goal weight (something between 125-130 lb).

All the best to everyone here, I'm glad I found this forum!

Good morning my friends!

I was wondering that how do I know if my weight drop is due to loosing water or fat?

I assume in these first two days you only loose water, right? (3 lb so far)

Good morning and welcome to the beach!! Typically you lose a lot of water weight in P1 and in P2 you start to lose actual fat. As to the ratio, you would have to have that measured. Sorry, I supposed that is not very helpful. But, good luck and have fun!

Hey ladybugmom!

Thanks for your reply :). I'm excited about this eating plan! I have a good feeling about it!

Actually I do have a bodyfat caliper at home.. I will do the measurement tonight :). Then we will see when my fat starts to go away.

Good morning!

Obviously my body had a huge amount of water stored somewhere because I have lost 4 lb in 3 days! It's kinda crazy to think about - it's roughly 1/2 US gallon!

Well anyway, hopefully you all have a great weekend and I can keep my weight going down :). (I'm actually really waithing for that P2 because then I really know that it's the fat that's going not just water.)

Today's breakfast:
A glass of vegetable juice
A stuffed bell pepper with chicken, onion, half skim mozarella, spices (prepared in the oven)
Sprouts
Water
Tea

Hey all!

Ok, I have certainly reached the point where all the excess water is gone, because my weight is not dropping as fast as on those first 3-5 days.

Well anyway, my weight is going down slowly which is fine to me :).

Ooops, I had to star over this whole thing! And I was already doing so well :?

I moved from one city to another and everything just went little crazy. Last Friday I decided that it's time to take better care of my eating and myself!

So here I am again and feeling good :)

Hopefully I don't have to start over anymore - ever!

Blaah, today I feel depressed about my South Beach Phase 1! :(

First, I'm frustrated that my weight goes up and down (2 days ago I was 1 lb leighter than today). I wanna keep it going down! Why it yo-yos like that? Is it just water? I noticed that especially after hard workout day my weight is heigher than on the previous day. Propably my muscles are just so pumped-up with water?

Second, yesterday I had a very hard day staying on P1: I was having lunch with my pals and we went to a Mexican restaurant. I wanted to eat tacos, but decided to stick with a salad. Then we went to have dinner in the evening in an Italian pizza place. Well I stuck with a salad again! And no beer or wine either, just sparkling water.. It's kinda depressing.

Well hopefully this is woth it!

Yesterday's meals and snacks:
B: 2 egg omelet with light blue cheese, red bell pepper, spring onion and chives + cup of vegetable juice and green tea
S: protein shake with 8 pecans (after workout)
L: beef salad + herbal tea
S: plain fat free Greek yogurt with 8 walnuts
D: tuna salad with artichoke hearts and feta cheese and olive oil
S: part skim ricotta cheese with sugar free mable syrup
Let's make it fun!

What is in your protein shake? It could be what you put into your body after your workouts that is causing the weight gain. Here are a couple forum posts about protein drinks and shakes that you might find some useful information from.

Hi Quirquie,

Thanks for replying :)

My protein powder contains natural dried whey, natural chocolate flavor and little bit of fructose as sweetener. I splend it either with skim milk or water (depending if I have already been eaten my allowed milk/yogurt amount). I don't drink it after every workout though, just after some of the very intense ones.

I would prefer eating e.g. skim cottage/mozarella cheese/fat free Greek yogurt with a banana/apple/berries, but now I'm still on P1 (one more week and then back to fruits, yei!) + I'm living in a place where the temperature is like 35C/95F on the day time so I don't want to eat anything that's gone bad due to the hot weather.

Well anyway, my body is still adjusting to my new diet (it's been only 1 week since I started) so I shouldn't stress about it too much, right?
