Thanks Lisa!

Back to basics - SB basics that is... :D Just back in my own kitchen with my own food for dinner. It's been a little rocky these weeks away, but the time with fam and friends was awesome!

Today on the road:
B: eggs, few potato chunks, green beans
S: peach slices
L: subway 6 in (turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomato, cukes, ranch on wheat), peach slices
S: 2 choc pieces, cottage cheese, 1/2 apple, NBP

Home tonight:
D: chicken, green beans, ranch, ff milk
S: Gk yogurt, sfff lime jello to sweeten, blueberries

My food on the road was not entirely awful, but definitely not SBD. I tried to eat lots of veggies and salads w/ salmon or chicken. But fam and friends offered oatmeal, potatoes, smoothies, pie: all delish, but not SBD. I tried to limit my intake of these offerings to small portions and was successful part of the time.

Our scale is not operational at the moment. An insect got stuck inside where you read the numbers - I will spare you the details :o So, I know I'm up in weight, but back to SBD for me. Yay for sleeping in my own bed!!!

I was reading this quote and almost rofl . I experienced the same thing awhile back when I once weight 175 lbs. I did the wrong diet like starved myself to dead then stepped on the scale. I got frustrated when nothing was moving down. I thought "what da hack hmm..the scale mihgt be broken". so I jumped on the scale so hard a couple times....there 'it is broken'. I hope when I hit the plateau, I don't have to take the scale apart to look for an insect. :P

Keep going grace2. You are doing great :D

What a story, Prise! Breaking the scale - too funny  Thank goodness my hubby took it apart and cleaned it. The scale is now operational!

The damage wasn't too bad - my weight is about what it was @ 128. Took care of appts today and Costco. Started with a walk.

B: NPB, NSA jam on pumpernickel, carrots
L: chili w/ cheese, green beans, ranch
S: cashews, cherries
D: chicken, green beans, ff milk
S: Gk yogurt, sfff lime jello sprinkle, blueberries, blackberries, choc pieces

Hope everyone has a good weekend! It is going to be a sizzler in AZ

starting off in a good way! 20+ minute walk...

B: 1 egg, 1 turkey sausage, green beans, and refried beans - yay, I have missed them!

here's the rest of my day...
S: cottage cheese, fruit, nuts
L: didn't have it :(
D: chicken, mushroom sauce, broccoli
S: Gk yogurt, sfff lime jello, blueberries & raspberries

Since I skipped lunch, I am hungry now! I made a salad for supper, too, but didn't eat it. Think I will have some :)

Broken scales... ha ha. My DH hid mine for 3 weeks recently. Glad you're home and back on track. Summer is fun to spend time with people and eat different foods. Just have to keep it reigned in so the weight gain is not crazy! I'm saying this more for my benefit than yours'.

So he gave back the scale! I was wondering about that...

I hear you on that! So, I had my salad - three helpings of it with three helpings of ranch (more than 2T, that's for sure!). Then I had 3 pieces of pumpernickel (1 was really little is how I rationalized) smeared with smart balance and nsa jam. And I wonder why my weight is up this morning!!! :x

Keep going and learn. Part of the salad would have been fine so I could limit the dressing. Maybe 1 piece of bread w/ a bit of jam or plain. My big takeaway? Eat lunch!

Yes bread is my BIGGEST weakness and I have to stay away from it at parties or I'm doomed!! Bread and doritos...

Life is a journey and so is SB and we learn every day. It's all good.

Thanks for your posts and encouragement as always, Ona and Lisa! :D

So, the good news: 4 days in a row of exercise. It's walking, but it's at a good clip and more than I've done in weeks! The not so good: I have been eating chocolate. Got a day without it, but tonight, I am back again munching on choc chips. I got the ingredients and the recipe for black bean brownies and need to try them instead!

yesterday:
B: egg, 2 turkey sausage patties, refried beans, green beans, 1/2 grapefruit (delish - have not had grapefruit in years due to statin meds. haven't had the meds in a month, so...) It would be great to get off the statins all together...
L: salad w/ chicken, parmesan, ranch
D: carrots, green beans, ranch
S: Gk yogurt, sfff lemon jello, berries, choc chips, ff milk

today:
B: egg, 2 turkey sausage patties, refried beans, green beans
S: cottage cheese, peach - yummy!
L: chili (added more to it: zucchini—thanks, Chris!—and garbanzos) w/ cheese, carrots
D: ground turkey with mushroom sauce over (you guessed it!) green beans
S: Gk yogurt, sfff lemon jello, berries, choc chips, ff milk

I will try to get my exercise earlier tomorrow - AZ is sweltering.

I'm missing grapefruit, too, since I started on my statins over a year ago. But there's no way I'm going off the statins, maybe there's a different one that would allow me to eat grapefruit, or have a little Ruby Red once in a while - I like it mixed into my water.

Your meals are looking good, other than the chocolate chips  Now that the holiday is done here and I've pampered the kids with their favorite foods/desserts, I need to get control over the menus here!

I have been on statins for several years on and off. It was only a few months back that I found that Lipitor @ 10mg was the equivalent of Pravastatin @ 20mg. Come to think of it, I may have found that info on the boards here. DH and I worry about the bad news on statins and I would like to break free. I know SB eating is helping and I usually have a high # on the good cholesterol; we'll see...

More walking in the morning. Tonight we are having dust storms and thunderstorms in AZ. I never would have believed in monsoons or dust storms till living here. The way the huge dust cloud rolls in and obliterates everything - mountains, skyscrapers, the roadway - is amazing and can be very dangerous. If you pull off the roadway, you have to be sure to turn off your car lights so no one plows into you thinking you are still driving in the lane of traffic.

B: egg, 2 turkey sausage patties, snap peas, refried beans
L: chili w/ cheese, celery
S: cottage cheese w/ a peach, 1 slice pumpernickel bread w/ smart balance and dab of nsa jam
D: salad w/ chicken, parmesan, and ranch, ff milk
S: Gk yogurt, sfff lemon jello sprinkle, blueberries, raspberries, choc chips, ff milk

Yes, Chris, hoping I can make the chocolate chips a short bump I am going over. Funny, I am not bothered by so much of the junk food: pop, chips, crackers, cake, pie, etc are not bothering me now that I am home. I find the sweetness of a ripe peach with cottage cheese to be absolutely satisfying. I don't even like the taste of the chocolate chips that much :? It was one day at Costco that I bought this huge bag. Should have just looked for a big bag of Ghiradhelli. They are so not sweet and I usually stop at 1 or 2 with some milk as you suggested, Chris. Long term learning!!!

I recently read in one of Gary Taubes' books that high HDL is even better for women than men. It said that if a woman has high HDL, her risk of heart issues goes down even if she still has high LDL. I hope that makes you feel better! :D

Hi Lauren, I'm always impressed at how you forge ahead on the SBD with barely any distractions. It's like your journal title says, work to be done. And you're gettin' er done. I admire your focus. Focus seems to be what I lack. :?

I have seen youtube footage of the Arizona dust storms. Wow, that's so amazing. I lived in Tucson for about four years and while I saw cars float way during the monsoons, and I got caught in an occasional dust devil, I never experienced anything like those dust storms. What happens to people if they're caught outside in one?

Hey Grace, did you make the BBB? It took me 3x to get them perfect and get hooked. Now I find if I don't have them in my freezer, I can go off. If I have them, I'm fine!! Speaking of which, I'm going to make a new batch in 2 minutes. \

Hey Play-doh, I think it would be pretty messy. I have been in the wind with all the dirt swirling into my face, eyes, and teeth. Not fun! The storm the other day looked flat scary! We are quite a ways west of Phoenix and didn't realize the havoc going on till later. A lot of the reason I have the "work to be done" journal title is due to my dissertation. I still haven't heard the changes that will be required and it's been over a month...

Lisa, can you believe it? I still haven't made the brownies! I do have all the ingredients and have been wondering what to do since I don't have a food processor. Use a mixer, I guess.

Eating has been pretty good these days with walking at least 20 min as exercise. Typical day:

B: 1 egg, 2 turkey sausage patties, green beans, ff milk
L: chili w/ cheese, carrots and celery
S: nuts or cottage cheese with a peach
D: fish or chicken, beans or broccoli, ranch, ff milk
S: Gk Yogurt, sfff jello sprinkle, berries, possibly a piece of 72% chocolate (done with the choc chips—yay!)

But today I had 2 pieces of pepperoni pizza along with a huge salad!
