You'll win handily -- I am at 15.9 stone now and falling, but I have a trip to Pittsburgh this weekend. There is NOTHING in Pittsburgh that is SBD friendly, and we are probably making a stop in Primanti Brothers....... http://www.primantibros.com

I ate my way through Pittsburgh a couple of years ago. Didn't go for Primanti's though. I really don't like all that stuff on my sandwiches. But that whole area with the ethnic restaurants about did me in. Real fabulous pierogi, the biscotti store, etc. Then went out for italian food for dinner, they screwed up my son's order so they gave us free desserts - cannolis and zeppolas. OMG. Pittsburgh is a dangerous city. Don't forget to stop at Penzey's.

And I saw "Cirencester" in my novel last night! Which reminds me: What is a "bell end"? Does it mean thick-headed, like a solid heavy piece of metal? A clapper?

If it was a derogatory term, 'bell end' refers to the end of a gentleman's member.

You can use the word 'knob' or the phrase 'knob end' in the same context.

Delightful isn't it - what on earth are you reading?

I have just had the most amazing meal (which my daughter cooked) with SB-friendly pasta sauce and wholewheat pasta - and then my wonderful daughter surprised me with a South Beach lemon cheesecake with a 'cake rocket' firework and sparklers as well as candles.

I've had a birthday AND stayed on plan AND I've lost another pound!

Best birthday ever!!!

Ah ha - here I am again. I had a bit of a 'blip' where, although I'd been good on my birthday, the following weekend saw some mild excesses and I gained a couple of pounds.

I'm back on track now and I weighed in this morning at 14st 9lbs (205 lbs) - which is rather good. So 15lbs so far!

Does anyone else find that this plan changes their mental state and their attitude to food? I'm a bit amazed that I've become quite ambivalent to cake and sweets and rather than getting my main meal down so fast it doesn't touch the sides, I'm actually enjoying my food and eating far less. In fact a huge meal now makes me really uncomfortable.

I've started to look forward to my evening meals and indeed to look forward to cooking our evening meals rather than resorting to fast food or ready meals.

My personal exercise program that I've developed (5 minutes, 6 times a day) is working better than I could have expected and I'm beginning to see some results.

And I didn't give up after 3 weeks in spite of having a bit of a 'meltdown' (or is that 'meltup'?)

Welcome back Su! I was starting to think you had hit your 4-week-per-diet sticking limit and weren't coming back. I recognize the cake ambivalence but, sadly, looking forward to cooking has not been bestowed upon me as yet. SO glad you came back. I have a long standing habit of throwing babies out with bathwater so the whole idea of having a little melt-up and then getting right back on track was a revelation to me. Now I think it may be the key to the whole thing. Maybe even the secret of life.
Hurrah for the 5 minute exercise "bursts"! I'm extra sessile myself so I do ONE MINUTE exercise "bursts" throughout the day. I think I'll start shooting for 2 minutes

I've also tended to 'throw the baby out with the bathwater'. I gain a couple of pounds and then I think 'Oh what's the point' and attack the biscuits and crisps.

This time I've thought - 'Oh I've gained a couple BUT I've lost loads and it would be a shame to ruin everything'. So I sort of did more like Phase 1 for just a couple of days and the pounds went away again.

I'm putting the finishing touches to my exercise routine (which I do in the toilet - because there's space, privacy and I'm guaranteed to be in there at least 6 time a day). When I've got it sorted I'll publish it on here for anyone who is as stationary as I am and wants to gain a bit more movement back.

I do Iaido with my daughter and husband on a Thursday. We've been doing it for nearly 2 years and last week I managed a seated bow for the first time. That is - I managed to get down into a kneeling position and back up again without using my hands. I thought that kind of mobility had gone forever - but it looks like I was wrong.
