Not just cotton, organic cotton. This is an organic CSA, wouldn't want to put polyester mesh bags next to such beautiful produce. Unfortunately we got small portions of everything this week being that it's the first harvest and barely summer here, so the stuff isn't hanging around long enough to get squishy. I usually put it in those green bags if I have a lot. Will probably find out that they're toxic.

Dinner is smelling yummy, I'm hungry and trying to stay away from the wine and bread. Sigh.....I may have to give in on the wine, but then I'll need food right away to keep me from getting too spacey.

No exercise today. I don't want to do anything except sit on the couch. It's gross and dreary out.

B: lentils/ham/two eggs
S: veggies/hummus
L: salad w/chicken
S: nuts
D: pork roast/baby kale/green beans/wine?
ricotta and blueberries for dessert/evening snack

Baby kale got droopy in the cotton bag.

One mile walk this morning. Beautiful day, spent the day hanging out on the deck watching DH get our RV ready for our yet to be planned vacation. Made some salads to have with grilled beef for dinner.

B: ham & eggs
S: ricotta/blueberries
L: veggie & hummus/nuts
S: apple and cheese (full fat - need to shop!)
D: grilled beef, small spoonful of macaroni salad/broccoli salad/asparagus/Corona Light

Tomorrow I need to replenish salad, lowfat cheese, ricotta, lots of other stuff. Out of lots of things because I was determined to NOT grocery shop this weekend. It's the beginning of tourist season and I don't want to deal with the stores when they're here!

What kind of ricotta do you buy, Chris? I've had fresh ricotta and love it but the two tubs of commercial ricotta I've tried since SB both tasted like...spackle.
I wasted a beautiful day yesterday, lying around feeling miserable. Got to spring into (housework  ) action today.

No such luck finding fresh ricotta here in the boonies. They can't even pronounce it. I buy low fat ones, make sure they're really low fat though since some of them have 7g of fat. We only have a couple of brands here (Sorrento and Sargento - why don't they try to confuse me? No Polly-o, which I grew up on) and I haven't really done a taste test, only know that I don't like the Hannaford or Shaw's store brands (both gritty), but do like Shurfine which my local mom and pop stores sells for a usually decent price. If I find a big container on sale, I'll buy whatever brand it is. It's supposed to be pretty easy to make your own, but I haven't tried it yet. Then you can control the fat content a bit more and actually have it taste good.

Also wish I could get Friendship Farmer cheese here more reliably. I love to use that (it's very low fat) w/lf cream cheese to make my own lowfat boursin type cheese.

Back to gross cloudy humid weather again. Yuck. Don't know if I'll get my exercise done.

Need to do a major grocery haul, again. Dinner will be grilled shrimp (inside), rice for the guys, bok choy and another veggie for me.

Ever thought about making your own ricotta? It is not hard, takes little time, costs pennies, and tastes great. Numerous recipes with simple how-to on the web.

You didn't read my whole post, Mike, cause I was suggesting the very same thing to Bethy. I haven't tried it yet but have been encouraged by a few people to make my own ricotta. Maybe for a special occasion one day, or to surprise DH, who grew up walking up to the laticcini in Brooklyn to get a package of fresh ricotta every week.

So, rainy day today, no walking, no exercise. Did my United Way volunteer work today spending the greater part of the day working with a mailing that was screwed up. At least it wasn't me, and it makes me feel a little better about my own skill set

B: veggie omelet
L: salad w/feta, blueberries and yogurt
S: nuts
D: fabulous shrimp stir fry, tiny bit of white rice, red wine

Finally went out and bought larger size capris since the only ones I have that fit are very loud batik ones that I can really only wear to the beach or grocery store. I gave all my others away at the end of last summer and then GAINED WEIGHT!!! But I refused to buy 14's, found some just marked large, which somehow made me a little less unhappy.

My fake daughter Jennifer made some as a procrastination technique when she was supposed to be studying. Said it was good and you can waste a lot of time checking on it. I'd make some right now instead of working butcept my father doesn't like it. I could make him some Pimento cheese instead of cleaning the bathrooms. Genius Chris and Mikey. :D

Must clean the bathrooms and the visible parts of the kitchen, Bethy. It's a rule even when family comes. Or you could just leave him a container of clorox wipes....

My walk buddy dragged me out in the drizzle today and it cleared enough for us to walk for about an hour. Then it poured again, now the blue sky and dark clouds are fighting and I think the clouds will win. I need to do some stretching again, though. Walking just tightens up my legs and back. I think the damn damp weather isn't helping my body - feeling poofy and sore all over.

Food is good despite having a freezer with 3 packages of Klondikes. I'm being very very good especially considering that I'm out of chocolate. Did another grocery haul. Forgot the flour, was gonna use the squishy bananas to make banana muffins for the guys. Tossed them instead since I already have a pile in the freezer and never make the smoothies I think I'm going to make.

B: veggie omelet
L: random pieces of ham (trimming the bone), eggplant parm
D: chicken, green beans, roast cauliflower or salad, wine

I am an exercise machine today...walked for 20 min this morning, did some Total Gym, then about 15 min of yoga stretches. Ended up taking pain reliever yesterday for all my aches, so decided that I MUST do my stretches every day. Not sure if the wet weather is making arthritis kick in everywhere, but my joints are not very happy lately.

Today is the 40th anniversary of my high school graduation (my old bffs and I have been chatting about it on FB). I realized that I weighed 135 when I graduated, so that means I've gained about a pound for every year since then. That definitely was not one of my goals! Motivating? You bet!!

B: veggie omelet
S: banana w/pb
L: leftover chicken breast, broccoli, cauliflower

Making meatballs and sauce for tonight, pasta for the guys. Two meatballs and a big salad for me??? Maybe lentils or something filling instead of pasta.

Ate the pasta  small portion, maybe 1/2 cup. Had last of the bottle of red wine.

Woke up through the night very thirsty and hungry. Had a big glass of water and some nuts  went back to bed. Sigh.....
Walked this morning, but it was sticky and humid even at 8:30, so never made it into the meadow/woods area. It wasn't mowed recently and was buggy and hot.

Food was OK, had a few triscuits and a little brown rice. Still playing with the same 2-3 lb. I think I need to up my bean intake again and find those frozen asparagus! Ate many many strawberries - bought 2 quarts and picked out the really really ripe ones and we've been munching on them all day, along with cantaloupe. Tomorrow is CSA pickup - spinach, broccoli, squash.

B: 2 eggs, lots of fruit
S: banana and pb
L: leftover chicken, cauliflower/broccoli w hummus
S: cheese, fruit
D: pork/sauteed greens (chard/bok choy)/brown rice/wine

Rite Aid had the nerve to be out of dark choc Doves unless I wanted the almond ones. Love those, but would not be able to stop eating them, so didn't get them. The plain creamy ones last a long time in my mouth; I'd inhale the almond ones for sure. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and see if they got more - on sale this week and I need something to keep me away from the Klondikes.

Rainy and gross this morning, no walk. But it cleared up this afternoon, so I went for a swim. Not in shape enough to get major exercise swimming, but it was soooo nice paddling around the lake in my noodle 8)

B: egg/black beans/lf cheddar
S: turkey/cheese rollups
L: salad w/tuna and ranch, cantaloupe
S: nuts/triscuits/bread dipped in olive oil
D: burger on eng muffin w/cheddar, large salad, wine

Way too many bread servings. Cannot deal with the stuff. Either I avoid it altogether or I eat half a loaf. I don't know how to do moderation very well.

Hi Chris, how are you? Hope you're doing well and getting in some good exercise. It's crazy hot and humid here too, but the gym is A/C so that's where I go to sweat it out. Feels good and it's quiet there this time of year which I love! Hope you have a great weekend.

LOL, Bethy! Not a Yankee term, just one of those styrofoam noodles they have at pools. I got this mesh chair thingie that slides onto it and you can actually sit and paddle without having to blow up a tube. Love the thing.

Lisa, I'm still hanging in there, not on program very well since I finally succumbed to a Klondike last night and then ate a whole bunch of crackers. Not even going to post what I ate. But, I've been eating lots of veggies and fruit, mostly strawberries and melon. For some reason the peaches we've been getting are from the west coast, not very good, and expensive. I'm very disappointed since last year we had a huge crop of GA peaches that were outstanding.

Today I will be bad - going out for Chinese food, to the mall for the A/C, then ice cream on the way home. TOMORROW, however, I will be back to my P1.5 and exercise. Having the A/C in the house is helping with that. I can at least do some of my Total Gym and yoga stretches without overheating. I guess it's time to start my walk dvd's, too, since walking outside isn't happening unless I go out at 6am, which is when I'm sitting with my much needed coffee!
