Ricotta Cheese Fat Content

Postby Chris55 » Sat Apr 28, 2012 12:28 pm

I noticed on a recent grocery store trip that what I thought was low fat SB friendly ricotta really wasn't so low fat. I decided to do some online research and the more I searched, the more I'm convinced that I have to check every container of every brand every time I go to the store. Here's what I found from the brands available in my area of the northeast. I could not find nutritional info on Shaw's brand, but will check that one out in person. I've also found that the taste and texture really varies from brand to brand, so if you think you don't like the SB ricotta desserts, you may just need to find a ricotta that tastes better.

Ah, marketing. Different terms will pull in different folks, I guess. You just happe to be one of the intelligent few who will actually READ the label and not just the big print name. You'll see the same game played with some supposed WHOLE GRAIN items that have no real difference in fiber or carbs or whatever when you get into the details - but the price may be higher!
