Where can I find info on South Beach Diet Supercharged?

Postby mom2hah » Wed Feb 17, 2010 6:01 pm

Where can I find info on the difference between the regular South Beach Diet & South Beach Diet Supercharged? I have the books from the original SBD but want to look over the differences of the Supercharged program before buying THAT book also. Thanks!

It's basically the same eating program with an explicit interval based exercise routine included and recommended. The first book did little in the way of encouraging exercise as part of the program and only referred to including exercise/activity in the most general terms. The food list topics here linked into the FAQ topics organized by Kimboroni in the P1 and P2 forums are current with the supercharged book. (NOT the info in the tabs along the top which haven't been updated at all since the board first opened in 2003.) So the "supercharged" aspect comes from increasing activity along with the same basic healthy eating plan as before. I'd go to a bookstore or a library if you want to review the book and see what it is about in more detail before investing in it. Most of your nicer bookstores have chairs and comfortable seating areas where you can read and review books like this without having to buy them.

apparently there are some new recipes that are good too! ;) And I think there is a better explanation of the P1 to P2 transition although it is faster than what is recommended here which came from their official paid site.

I never *buy* any of the SBD books anymore, you can just request them from your library for free! I own the basic SBD book and the mini food guide book. Recently my husband ordered the SBD Dining Out guide for his iPhone so we could see what SBD recommends specifically for places we eat out.

I have checked out of my library NUMEROUS times the various SBD cookbooks. Check out your library :D Mine allows you to search and request books online and if another library has it, they will transfer it and email you when it is at your local branch- I am assuming many library's have this system now.

RedRox is right about there being some great recipes in the SuperCharged book! Also, I think if you are planning on using the South Beach as a way of life rather than a "quickie fix" diet, it's worth the investment of buying the cookbooks. You certainly will get your money's worth when you cook out of them for years and years! My only complaint is that one of mine is coming apart at the binding! GRRRRRR!
