WElcome, ChelseaElise! (pretty screen name, by the way!)
Part of what 'inspired' me to start SB was having to buy a pants size that I wasn't happy with, either, so I've been there, done that, too! (I knew I was over weight & had been looking into SB, the pants where the last straw for me!)
6ft,33, hypothyroid, plantar fasciitis, Sleep Apnea, wifey & caregiver to a hunny w/ Cerebral Palsy, I've lost 80 lbs, 27 more to go!
no longer on Sb due to food sensitivities, but I still eat healthy!

I agree! Even though this thread may have some dust on it, I too wanted to chime in. I'm 6'0. This winter I got up to my highest weight ever, 215. My size 16's weren't even looking like they were fitting that great. This was an increase from the 170-180 range I lingered in for the past 5-6 years (size 12/14 depending) It was (is) very frustrating as it wasn't like I was just eating everything I wanted and not working out. I was watching it (well, sort of) and did continue to exercise (again, sort of...I may now see what the problem was). Anyway, on my own I managed to slowly whittle it down to 207. I started SB a little over 2 weeks ago and lost 10 pounds on phase 1 (with exercise). I started phase 2 this past weekend, and although I didn't go crazy, there was some sugar (family cookout & a baby shower) and today I am up a pound.

I'm trying not to freak out because I know this whole thing is a process, not magic, but it still gets to me when the numbers have been going in one direction and then they slip up.

My first goal is 184 as that is the top of my healthy weight range. Then I am going for 175 as I know I felt good a this weight before. Then ??? The Wii tells me I should be 163. That seems awful low for my pear and busty figure.

If any tall girls out there would like partner in this, I would love to make contact. :D

Welcome crott1975! Feel free to chat or ask questions any time!
Is 1975 the year you were born? If so, you're only a year older than me!

as far as healthy weight ranges (aka BMI's, or Body Mass Indexes), most of the ones I found online had my ideal weight in the 160's or thereabouts... I've said it before, I'll say it again....at 160 I would look like a walking bag of bones!
Luckily, I did finally find a BMI calculator somewhere online (can't remember exactly where, tho.... sorry) that said my heighest healthy weigh should be 182, sounds pretty good to me, so that's how I picked what my goal weight should be. As I get closer to goal weight, I may change it based on however I may feel (either lower it or raise it, IDK), but for now with finally less than 30 to go, I'm thinking 182 is good.

Hello to all of you! I'm 6'2", so I think I definitely qualify to post in a thread titled "tall girls." :) I'm a former athlete who has, over the (many) ensuing years, packed on a lot of weight. I'm committed to getting it off. I researched for quite a while before selecting the SBD, which I think is going to provide me with the flexibility and healthy results that I'm after. I believe I have the most weight to lose of any of you, so I'm going to count on your support (although right now, 2 days before the end of phase 1, I've already lost 13 pounds, so that's pretty motivating in itself).

So let's hear it for tall girls, and also for reclaiming health and wellness (not to mention a nice figure). I'm enjoying reading the success stories thread, and I'm planning to be a poster there myself in the near future.

Cheers!

Hey rhales:

I'm doing GREAT, thanks! I'm on the Sunday-only weigh-in plan, because otherwise I tend to obsess about the scale. But I'm eating exactly on plan and enjoying everything. I have to say that I feel fantastic--no more mid-afternoon snoozes! I can tell that my body is responding very, very well to the SB WOE, and it's so flexible that I can easily manage even with my hectic work schedule.

I'm also celebrating that I grilled fish at home for the first time--I got some lovely salmon at the market today, and I just brushed it with olive oil, sprinkled salt and pepper, and put it on my hot grill pan skin side down (I did spray the pan with Pam before I heated it up, and it's a nonstick pan), then flipped and peeled the skin off while the second side cooked. I used just a little soy sauce over each side, and wow! It was the easiest thing ever and it was FAST! I totally did not have any of the side dishes ready, but it looked and smelled so good I didn't want to wait--so now I get to enjoy my steamed broccoli and roasted zucchini in a little while, apres fish. Plus I have the extra salmon waiting in the fridge for when I come home hungry another day this week.

I've been reading up on your posts, which are really inspiring! You've lost so much weight already and are close to your goal. I'm heading to the doc in mid-September to renew my thyroid med, too--I'm really hypo, but for whatever reason, I just stopped taking the Synthroid about a year and a half ago. It's time to get back on that and see if that doesn't also help with the weight loss.

Thanks for saying hi--everyone has been very welcoming and supportive, which I really appreciate! I've got a long road to travel, but I don't feel like I'm traveling alone. 8)

Hello all Tall Girls,
I am a 6', 43 yo mother of two grown boys and one grandson. I currently weigh 180 (not my highest). I was at my lowest weight of 144 only 3 short years ago but very close to anorexia just to get there. The smallest size I could wear even then was an 8. I usually hit between a 12-14 depending on the brand. I am most comfortable at about 165. I have big bone structure so I can carry a little extra weight. I am starting SB tomorrow along with my husband. He needs it more than I do, being older and heavier, a smoker and family hx of heart disease. I have great expectations for SB and am very excited to start. If anyone has any words of wisdom or advice for me, please share. I have planned my menu for the week and will shop tomorrow in advance. I look forward to hearing from my fellow "tall girls".

Hi everyone!

I'm not quite as tall as you guys but have always counted myself as a Tall Girl, I'm 5'10.
I'm now 191lb - definitely at my highest ever and not very comfortable at this weight.
Today is my second day of Phase 1, so can't really say how this is going but I'm definitely motivated!

How're you guys doing with your weight loss? :)

Welcome!
I've been at this almost 3 years and lost 80 lbs, with about 27 left to go....yes, it's taken me a while (thanks to a slow metabolism & medical issues), but it is sooo worth it!

Hey all,

Little late joining in here too... but what the hay.
Depending who you ask, i'm 5'9 or 5'10... and my start weight is 251. I've lost 7 lbs on P1 of SBD and jumped ahead to P2 a week early because I don't have any cravings.. not to mention I was sicker than a dog during P1. I've been on SBD since Sept 13, 2009. Hoping i'll keep losing at a slow and steady pace, but so far nothing happening on P2.

Hey Batgirl and Jollygreen--welcome!

Nice to "meet" other tall girls. Jollygreen, you made my day, because when I hit my goal weight, I want to be in a size 10/12, and it seems like that might be possible from your description. :) Yay! More encouragement to stay the course. I have a long way to go, but that's my goal.
