I got back on South Beach on Monday and today I am down 6 pounds. I am so happy bc I have had many failed attempts with getting back on plan and this week I was more determined than ever! I realize that its probably water weight but if it is I have been holding on to that water weight for about two months now! SO HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!

thank you!
Well to be honest with you I feel off the wagon bc I couldn't and still can't take some of the stricker rules of SB. It was becoming very stressful just to eat a meal. I was thinking about food constantly and it started annoying my friends and family. People stopped wanting to even have lunch with me bc I was trying to analyze the food so deeply. I got wore out and just stopped caring and began eating everything in sight.
What's the difference this time? I stopped obessing so much. I use the basic principles and try to abide by them in the bigger picture. I know wheat is better than white. I know that high sugar foods kill your weightloss goals. But i don't obess over it anymore... I just work the program from a bigger perspective. I chose wheat over white as much as possible and this week no starches at all but I still put a teaspoon of sugar in my coffee. Before I was going freaking crazy over a teaspoon of sugar but later consuming a whole candy bar from being stressed out about it. It was a nasty circle that I am going to break this time around.

Wow you have made some real progress!! Too much is like not enough. Moderation is the key. Some little treats here ans there won't ruined anything and stressing about it will just made you more disapointed about yourself. It's good, you are in the right way

Thank you for your support. Moderation is what i am learning now. I am not one of the stricker people on SB but I do follow the principles as closely as possible without making up excuses to eat wrong. For example I will still get a salad if I am in a place where I can't find SB friendly food but if I take a bite off my husband's plate (literally only a taste) I don't feel like I have ruined it and then eat half his plate! THat's what i was doing before. If I missed up a little I would just throw the whole day away. truly not a good concept

Congratulations, SR2L! Practicing moderation has been a big key for me, too. My years of perfectionism & all or nothing just didn't work.

Thanks Nessa. I want to continue being in control of my eating from now on and stop letting food control me.

You sound like me---I tend to have an "all or nothing" mentality. I've been able to learn some moderation too on SBD. I still tend to have "good" days and "bad" days though. I want to get to the point where I can take a bite of something and then forget it (maybe I should think more like a goldfish---->"What bite of cookie?"

I find that this time around - or this week rather- I have been able to do that bc I didn't focus on it so much as to say I can't have it. I recognized that its not something I can have right now and even in the future I need to be mindful of it. I find it so much easier doing it that way.
By the way congrats on reaching your goal!

Happy to see you're trying again. I hope you find the way that will work for you. It really is such an individual thing, after all. (BTW, I had a piece of white toast this morning - so please don't call the SB police on me.)
