Hi All,

Just wanted to share with the SB community my progress, I have so much more to go....right now I am just happy that I am doing this and not giving up on myself! :)

I started SBD on Dec. 6, 2011 and now a month and half later, I have lost 17 pounds. My starting weight was 195.6 and current weight is 178. I am a 33 yr old female, height 5'2 and my ideal weight is around 150 range.

I wish everyone continued sucess and really love the SBD! :).

I am going to start Phase 1 tomorrow. I replied to you because my starting weight is also 195.6. I am a 64 year old RN who is also a certified fitness trainer....owned my own gym until 2 years ago. I have an adult profoundly retarded quadriplegic son. I stopped working in the public 5 years ago to care for him myself after his longtime caregiver died. I closed my gym 2 years ago and have gained over 40 pounds. I am 5' 4.5 ". According to healthy BMI charts, I should weigh between 140-145. That will be my goal. My daughter will begin a Medically supervised ketogenic weight loss program on Monday that is hospital based. I am anxious to compare our weight losses as she has about the same to lose as I do. I wish you continued good luck.

Your daughter could easily lose weight more quickly than you, so don't be discouraged by that. Plans like that tend to be fairly rapid ones, and SB isn't. But at least one study has shown SB to result in less loss of lean body tissue and more bodyfat loss than lowfat plans. It is also more likely to be enjoyable with good, filling foods, rather than feeling like you're starving. And it's also more likely to be sustainable so that you can stay on the plan in order to keep the weight off, rather than counting the days 'til you lose the weight so you can quit. Quitting usually brings the weight back. Just a few ideas to help change the perspective.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

SB since Nov '03
Goal: major weight loss (50+ lbs) & good health
Reached Jan '05!
