Don't know that I've seen anyone post from South Africa before. We did have someone who was a bit further north on the east side of the African continent for awhile, but I don't remember the specific country and we have had people from the UK, Germany, Turkey, Asia and I just read a post from someone from Norway. I wouldn't let the fact that there is no one from your country here deter you from taking control of your life and learning how to eat more healthily and hopefully lose a little weight along the way! ;) To the extent it might be somewhat helpful, check out the topic near the top of this forum "For our European Friends". It's mostly directed to those in the UK, but it might help with some "translation" issues as far as foods and measuring goes. You likely won't find all the same low fat and diet oriented products there as here in the USA (we're a relatively diet obsessed country despite being also one of the most obese and unhealthy populations in the world. I'm sure there is a connection there!), but you can certainly find enough healthy foods to make it work with some creativity and dedication! :) Good luck and jump in anywhere! There are some new topics in the P1 forum of those starting with the new month, so you might want to check in with those and say Hi there too! :D Good luck and enjoy the adventure! 8)

Hello, I am from South Africa and have just started the diet with my hubby, there are some veggie choices that I am not sure of. What would we call a summer squash in South Africa, as it looks almost like a butternut which we are not allowed in phase1, and can we have gem squash in phase1.
