P1 is pretty low cal to begin with, and going too low calorie just stalls weight loss and slows metabolism anyway. The key is finding the optimal caloric intake for your body size and activity level, not the minimal caloric intake. So can't answer your specific question, but going too low cal is clearly not not the answer either. We see people going too low cal in P1 and tell them to eat more all the time here and when they eat more they start losing weight again!

I went from a low calorie diet, around 1300 calories, and I was excersing and I lost maybe 2 lbs in 2 weeks. Then I switched to the sb diet phase 1 and immediatly started losing a pound a day, so yeah, it can still work coming off of a low calorie diet. But of course everyone is different, so what worked for me might not work for you.
