PLEASE Do not link your ticker into your avatar image!!

This is the policy here. Tickers belong in your signature, not in your avatar. If you can't figure out the difference, or can't make them work properly, then don't use them. When tickers are linked in as your avatar, they push all of the text far to the right and make reading any thread you post in much more difficult than it needs to be for the rest of the community. Images linked in as avatars should generally be no larger than 100 x 100 pixels. Here is my entirely subjective criteria. If it activates the horizontal scroll bars on my laptop screen (14" set to 1024x768 resolution) then it's too wide!

If you link a ticker into your avatar and it has disappeared from your posts, it is likely because it has been removed by a moderator, usually me. I will usually put all of the correct code into your signature if I have the time and inclination, but as of this moment, I am losing patience on this issue. If you continue to re-link the ticker image into your avatar after it has been removed, we will delete it and block you from using any avatar images at all until such point as you can make it work in your signature area within your profile.

Looking for Skiny Pete has put together two excellent instructional threads on how to create signatures and avatars and they are now "Sticky" threads in the Technical Issues and Board Improvement forum here. Here are the links to each one (click on the blue text):

How to set up your TICKER
How to add an Avatar to your profile

And finally, the Test and Spam forum here was specifically designed to allow you to make test posts to see if what you have done works properly. You can either create a new topic or reply to an existing testing thread. Like most "coding" exercises, a little testing goes a long way before you decide to put it into production!!!

Happy Ticker-ing and Avatar-ing!!
