Yeah - DH has been into latte art for a while, although he claims that he is just an "amateur".

I have been reading all about starbucks for P1 and beyond but have not seen anything about my favorite, the soy latte. Looking at the starbucks website, this is what it says for a grande soy (they use vanilla soy) latte:
Calories 210
Fat Calories 50
Total Fat (g) 6
Saturated Fat (g) 1
Cholesterol (mg) 0
Sodium (mg) 160
Total Carbohydrates (g) 28
Fiber (g) 2
Sugars (g) 21
Protein (g) 11
This seems like a lot of sugar, etc., but I seem to remember reading that vanilla soy is ok. Their soy latte is made of just vanilla soy and espresso (no syrup or anything else is added as far as I know), so does this mean that it's ok?
Thanks!

You could ask for a soy, sf latte.

Well, there is no added sugar - all of the sugar is in the vanilla soy milk. Just wondering if that was ok and, if so, how often it was ok lol
Thanks!

Well I think the vanilla soy itself has sugar added. Most soy drinks do. DH and I had to really dig for one that didn't have added sweetener.

I didn't realize they used vanilla soy. My friend who has siblings that work at SB, orders a sf vanilla soy latte all the time. I could have sworn they used sf vanilla syrup... in a soy latte ~ thus making it a sf vanilla soy latte.

Ah, the wonder that is Starbucks.

When you ask for a soy latte, they automatically use vanilla soy - as far as I know they don't even stock regular soy in the store.
You should tell your friend that her sf soy latte is not actually sf lol

I found a chai solution that I've never seen anyone else bring up: A nonfat or 2% SF Vanilla steamer with a chai teabag purchased on the side. If you steep the tea bag in the steamed milk, it comes out just like chai. It's actually cheaper than the "official" chai, too. You might get some looks from the barristas, but they'll get used to you.
I'm very chai-picky (I'm a purist) but I did find myself surprisingly impressed with the Da Vinci SF Chai concentrate.

Hello -
I am new to the board and also in Day 5 of Phase I. I can't get a clear answer if non-fat milk is allowed with decaffeinated coffee.
Please help!
Thanks..

Non-fat milk and coffee are both allowed on all phases. Limit your dairy (milk and yogurt) to 2 cups per day, and don't go overboard with caffeine.

Hi, I work for Starbucks and can answer a few questions.
we have two kinds of SF syrups..vanilla and hazelnut.
all non fat drinks are made with 1% milk unless you ask for a blended which is a mix of whole and 1%.
the soy drinks are made with vanilla soy not plain soy with vanilla syrup.
you can get a non fat, no sugar chai latte by purchasing a chai tea bag and then having steamed no fat milk added to it (the regular chai syrup has tons of sugar).
the light frappachinos are just made with 1% milk, still have tons of sugar.
vanilla syrup is added to the whipped cream.
the iced teas can be made with any choice of sugar substitute or sf flavored syrups.
the no sugar added banana cake is sweetened only with bananas but does have refined flour.
hope this helps. feel free to ask any other questions.
my personal drink of choice is a mix of the shaken black and green iced tea with 2 splendas or a quad Americano with half and half (my one indulgence) and 1 splenda.

tex- would you be able to tell me which frapps are casein free?
also, for those in Canada - the soy milk is plain, not vanilla.
