Working odd hours....when to eat?

Postby bd0903 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 5:02 am

Hi there. I'm not new to SB, but new to this board. First time around I lost 25lbs. Its been a few years and a lot of changes in my life have occurred, and now I'm ready to beach again. The major difference this time around is that I now work at night. I go to work at 1030pm and get home around 730 am. There's an hour commute each way. When I do get home, I get the kids off to school, and its around 9am when I get time for myself. I don't get to sleep like I should because I have activities and appointments for kids during the day. My question is when should I have my meals, and when should I have my snacks? Or is it possible to divide up my meals into several snacks because I really never know what the day will bring, and I don't get the normal breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours? Thanks.

Grazing is okay, but it does make it more difficult to keep track of eating enough or not going overboard on certain things. As long as you eat 3 meals and 2-3 snacks (or the equivalent in grazing, making sure you get enough vegetables, etc.) throughout the day, it doesn't really matter what you call the meals or what kinds of foods you choose for them, such as having breakfast foods when you first wake up, etc.

With your odd schedule and so many responsibilities, it makes it even more important that you take care of yourself by eating properly.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.
