Hi Everyone,

Half way through day 3 and we are doing pretty good. My husband is on board too because he has high cholesterol and high blood sugar. Even our son 10 is trying. Unbelievable. Or maybe it's just the contrast from the sullen s14

I made a Frittata with ricotta last night that turned out well. Eggs for breakfast, salad or lunch meat for lunch, tonight steak and broccoli. S14 turned vegetarian recently so this is really helping his diet too. I think it is working for the water weight because I have to go to the bathroom every hour which is very unusual for me. I had bad headaches both nights but it is cedar fever season here so it might be that. I think reading the books have changed the way I think. When I saw a Jack-in-the-Box commercial instead of being amused as usual, I thought about the fat content of the food instead. Not having a drink is hardest! I'll probably get a bottle of red wine for the weekend so I'm planning my first cheat

All in all I love it and am psyched! Hope you all are too. :D

Another great benefit is more time hanging out together in the kitchen as we try to figure out what to eat!

just in case - kids and teenagers shouldn't be on phase 1. If you go to the faqs you'll find the recommendations of things for them to add. You probably already know this - but some folks might come along and say cool - I'll put my 10 yr old on phase 1 - and that wouldn't be a good thing!

No I didn't put him on it. The thing is he eats so much sugar! And just a lot of food in general. So he was willing to switch to whole wheat hot dog and hamburger buns! And I've been saying to both of them since they were little "Do you want to get diabetes?" as I tried to limit their sugar. I didn't realize we were getting so much from the bread products we were eating. Even though it was whole wheat, it wasn't 100% or whole grain. But S10 has gotten a little chubby. We both drank lots of egg nog over Christmas. So, no, I'm not limiting his food, just his sugar. Thanks for mentioning it though.

LaTeeDotTee, Mary and Lynnie.... Okay who else is a regular. Good Morning --- :D

Here is to another fabulous day on the beach 8)

My meals today will be pretty much the same as the others--- except that I am going out for dinner. No wine for me..... It triggers eating for me and then I have to start back at the beginning to readjust my carb craving. I have tried the little cheat over and over and I am determined to follow the program. Plus I figure that it is a good thing to give my body a rest and cleansing. But trust me, I love wine and know that I will have it again. Just not now. But some people seem to be able to have a little during phase 1 and be successful. Just not me.

How is the meal planning going for you all? Challenges? I encourage you to write in here before you go off the program or manipulate the plan.

Big group hug!!! Barb

Hi Barb and fellow SB'ers!

Day 4 going great. Of course I got on the scale and I'm down 3lbs. Like I said yesterday I know I lost a bunch of water weight just by counting the trips to the bathroom  I'm feeling much better than I have been lately. I also have doubled my fish oil supplement and have taken a couple of vitamins. I have a back issue with arthritis and bulging discs so I'm hoping losing some weight will take some of the stress off my back and I'll have less pain to manage! I'm getting the WOE thing I saw in the other posts. It really isn't a diet. I'm tempted to skip to phase 3 :P

Not really because I'm at least 40 pounds overweight and by today's standards 50. I was happy at the "fattening of America" until I realized I had gained 15lbs after not gaining for several years. I just feel real happy that I am doing something so positive for my life. It is having a good effect on my friends too. My friend said she read all the labels at the grocery today looking for good carbs/fats and less sugar. I found some great food by SB standards at my store (HEB).

How is everyone else?

Good morning Baby Boomers! I guess we all are baby boomers! How are you all doing. :D

I have had a very successful week and I think that keeping a food journal, writing it out in advance helps. I like seeing how many fats, proteins, carbs etc. I also keep track of fiber and calcium. just seem to help.

I did get up to 5,600 steps with my pedometer. My goal is 10,000 steps a day and then I will add my stationary bike. Weather and my weight keeps me on modified activity. But as the weight come off so will my energy. Just taking baby steps.

Food is planned for the day and pretty much my usual. Makes it easy. I enjoy it and it is easy to prepare or buy.

Have a great day. barb (bb) 8)

Did better than I thought this week. Lost 2 lbs! Biginning of the week was a little tough but am getting use to the diet. Don't really consider this a diet but rather a life change. As someone else said earlier I am looking at food differently now. Never ate a lot of fast food but now all I see is fat and unhealthy food.

My teenage kids are not on the diet but they are getting more salads and fruits and veg. The junk is leaving the pantry and being replaced with healthy options. They are not real thrilled but willing to try. Neither are over weight but both need to eat healthy.

Hope I am this inspired a few weeks from now! Wait and see.

Morning all..... Still on track. Committed to following the first 2 weeks. Then will add wine (maybe) and some whole grains. Tempted last night to have some wine as that is what we do one weekend but had a crystal light (lemonaid) in sparking water with a twist of lemon. Very tasty and worked. Did not have too many calories yesterday, just wasn't hungry. Noticed that when I follow the program, that after 5 days or so, I loose my appetite.

Have a great weekend--- boomers

Whew--- last night I could so go for a glass of wine but had another lemonaide instead. I feel so much better. It is not the calories of wine but it does stimulate my appetitie. And to be honest my appetite has been down since I have followed the program.

How is everyone else doing.

I am making blackeyed pea soup again for dinner today. I enjoy it so much that I figure why wait for NY. It is completely SB friendly, easy and the smoked turkey and cajan spices just make it yummy. I use the escarole for the greens.

What are some of your go to meals. Is the weekend hard for you? Have a great Sunday. Barb

Morning all

I do post every day. Sorry this maybe a bit boring but it helps me keep on track.

I did have a glass of wine last night. Really did not taste that good. But I am not beating myself up over it.

Think I will stay on phase 1 for a couple of more weeks just to really readjust my carb relationship.

i wrote the last one in larger print. This print is so small. Must be a way that I can change my profile so that the font is a bit bigger. :?:

I had a glass (6 oz) of vino last night too, Barb, and I feel the same: it didn't taste that great!

Lynnie-- thanks.... I knew you were thinking about having one. Haven't been tempted since.

Miss the other few posters... Here is my plan for today. Am going out for a business dinner so have pre requested my meal from various choices. The salad sounded the most sb friendly and the least carb tempting (potatoes on the other dishes)

I was going to post my food plan for the day but it is the same almost every day. Wondering if the others who started have stopped.

i think you really have to be determined to make this work. And the bottom line with weight and eating is different for everyone. I have hit rock bottom. I am 75 pounds overweight. Since I am tall, I can carry some extra weight but this is frightening. Even a few pounds off and I feel more alive, have more energy and like putting on clothes.

I did go to an outlet and bought some new clothes. Tops, sweater ect can be worn even while loosing weight. And I do not mind buying a pair of new smaller pants once in a while.

Hear is to another great day on the beach 8)
