It has been a while since I traveled to Mexico so I am not sure about how cautious you need to be with fresh veg. But I would say be very active, eat beans, fish and grilled meats. cooked salsa only. They usually have toasted pumpkins seeds, possibly some cooked squash, eggs, fruit etc. Do phase 2 and avoid the fried chips.

My hub and I stayed at an all inclusive dive resort (very low key.. nothing fancy) on Cozumel last year. The food was fabulous, and we ate EVERYTHING, fresh vegs, salad, etc. The fish was great. Had NO GI probs whatsoever. I was NOT doing SB then, but there are many many things you'll be able to eat! Have a GREAT time!!!

Hope you have a wonderful and WARM time. Bring some warmth back with you okay?

Looking forward to the weekend. I think we should check with the Administrators about starting our own board for the over 50 group. How do we do that. I have this page bookmarked otherwise it takes so long to get to it.

Anyway trying to stay on trak in 09. Stay warm my new SB friends

I was very active several years ago. If you are a main forum, the activity might be fast and furious. It is now manageable. After a couple of years and new add-ons and exits- it just get hard to get any connection.

If you set it up so you are notified when there is a new posting to this thread, you can open from there--- directly to the last posting.

just a thought

i definately think we need a thread in both P1 and P2 , we can help out the Newbies in P1 and support each other thru P2.

I started P2 today with apple and nuts for my afternoon snack . the apple was too big and i couldnt eat it all. but i have some smaller ones i can have the rest of the week.

Hi! I'm new to blogs, so please forgive my mistakes in posting. I started the SB diet plan 1 on January 1st and within a week had lost 8 pounds. I was really feeling good about myself. Then I strayed off the diet, and gained back 2 pounds. I do this with every diet I go on - lose 10 pounds and then go off the diet. Nutrisystem, I lost 30 pounds and then went off the diet. Arrrggghhh! It's my craving for bread that is my downfall.

Well, here I try again. I'm hoping that putting my feelings out there for everyone to see will be the extra push I need to stick with the plan. Just reading your blog gave me inspiration this morning. Thanks to all of you!

Welcome lovely lady. This is a very easy threat to blog on so don't worry. I think you are like most of us. We get off to a great start and then because the food plan is not natural or compatible with our lifestyle, it fails ------ we do not fail. It just wasn't the right eating plan for us. We must all find a program that we can incorporate into our lifestyle and make it a lifelong habit.

i am off for 4 days. First time that I haven't had a million things to day. Mostly have decided to follow some recommendations and splurge on the wii fit and sports. Now looking for a store that is not sold out. Will continue to ride my stationary bike as well as the wii fit. Like that there is a component that works on balance. I used to teach fitness to people over 40 and the owner of the club (PhD in exercise physiology) focused on balance as it starts to change after 30. Do not want a broken hip some day.

SB phase 2-----I had a slice of bread last night. whole grain rye. had a turkey rubin without the orange sauce. used spicy mustard instead it was good for a change.

I wrote RedRox to ask about moving the thread to phase 2. Also asked about sustaining the group. I was in the original over 50 and on SBD. It fizzled out after several years and honestly as much as I enjoyed everyone, we were not making progress with the program. We were more like an overweight support club. I want success and want to thread to help me be productive as well as support all of you with your weight loss/healthy life goals.

Too much chat from me so early in the morning. Big happy day on the beach (even if you are wearing gloves and down jackets).... Barb 8)

This is the response from RedRox (newbies he is one of the forum oversight leaders. Also if you look at his bio piece, he has been on here a long time and been successful. I asked about moving the thread to phase 2 and about keeping the focus on successful outcomes. I do like the idea of moving it over to phase 2 when everyone is ready for phase 2. Redrox will move it for us and maybe we can leave a message behind that directs people to find us.

This is his response.

The other option would be for me to move the thread in it's entirety into the P2 forum. Then you can preserve all the posts you have made so far in the same topic and simply continue it along in P2. Maybe that would help keep the focus for a bit, but ultimately it's just a personal decision to continue or not, you know?? Most people do lose their way it seems. Wish they didn't, whether they come here or not, but it just is kind of human nature I think. Anyway, let me know if you want me to move that for your group or not.

Well, it's improving here in the northeast - only -8 this am. I opted to do some weight training on my Total Gym, which actually felt good. Walking outside is out of the question for a long while - it's freezing and very slippery. It's hard to get motivated in this kind of weather.

I'm starting Phase 2 on Monday and will follow the thread wherever it goes. I, too, have lost on various plans, gone off the diet, and regained. This time my goal is to change my eating habits permanently. SB has had a major effect on how I eat, but I need to keep with it better after Phase 3. I'm trying not to weigh myself again until Monday and then only once a week - I've been on the scale too much this week.

I was very happy to get an e-mail from my farm share friends - I joined a Community Supported Agrigulture (CSA) last year and received wonderful organic veggies all summer long. They're gearing up for next season, so I've decided to buy a membership again. They really got me turned on to some veggies I had never tried. If any of you are thinking about doing a CSA in your area, I would definitely encourage you to try it for a year!

I love the organic farming movement. i love buying local. We are very lucky in california because of the solid commitment to organic and fair trade farming. I grew up in Kansas and we all had gardens and relied on them for our veg and fruits year around through freezing and canning. I miss that.

Good Afternoon Everyone -

Well Sassybb you decided to buy the Wii Fit, I am so sure you are going to love it. I came home last night from my Stamp Club (scrapbooking type - not postage) lol and worked out for 30 minutes. Yesterday I cheated and had the 1/2 pump. bagel. Your right it is not a food change but a life change. Monday is looking sweet, P2 and looking forward to some fruit and ww stuff. I must remember not to go over board though. I miss posted my weight loss the other day I am only down 2lbs I was thinking of when I went to the Dr. and weighed 154 on the 29th of Dec. But when I started SB I was at 151 now at 148 slow and steady as they say. Today is a little warmer here today it is 2 and only -30 windchill and of course snowing. We are up 20" for the winter so far!!! Wow, am I ready for spring and summer.

Good luck everyone....Stay Strong....Be Strong

Hello Ya'll,

Still trucking along. I do want to focus on success and not being a "cheaters support group!" My scale tipped down again today which was very encouraging. DH naturally has surpassed me with weight loss but he did spend 12 hours puking due to virus! I just can't compare us but we both look better. Beer bellys have diminished somewhat! I'm looking forward to Whole Grain bread and mandarin oranges in my salads. We are using soy milk with splenda in our coffees and I mixed a little vodka and vanilla in some vanilla soy for a cocktail last night. Covered my sweet tooth and desire for a drink! I have to really limit myself and make sure it doesn't give me a craving. I put some real jelly on my sons whole grain toast this morning and craved a bit but resisted. Made a nice omelet with low fat cheese, fresh spinach, tomatoes, a little low fat sour cream and squeeze of lemon. Delicious and satisfying. As long as I keep losing I think I can be satisfied with slow weight loss. I think as I get closer to goal it might be necessary to start counting carbs/calories but for now just cutting out all that crap is making a big difference. A nice dinner we had-pizza using whole grain flat bread, fresh veggies and mozzarela. It completely satisfies our desire for pizza. Drizzle a little olive oil after you pile up your favorite veggies! It feels so good to feel good about what I am eating, you know?

Looking forward to our new thread home and have a great (and historic!) weekend. :)

I DO know, La! It is great, feels great, even TASTES great! You really can get creative and not blow it! One thing I REAALLLY love is roasted cauliflower! OMG, it sweetens up so nicely. Also those fake "potatoes" made from it are good when you just want a mash, ya know? I have to say it is a bummer how EXPENSIVE everything is now, even veggies!! I am excited about P2 on Monday, being VERY cautious; gads, I read the ingredients on bottled water now. HAHAHA just kidding!!!

More adventures to come! 8)
