Really need support

Postby shellyrbil » Mon Mar 05, 2012 12:39 am

South Beach workED for me. I lost 35 pounds and was so happy with the results I wanted more so, I began counting calories. This brought my weight too low. I have gone from 140 pounds to 115 on south beach. Then I started counting calories and dropped down to 95 pounds. When I stopped counting, I quickly shot up to 110 pounds. I am 5 feet 3 inches tall. I exercise 5 days a week at 4:30 a.m. which is a Leslie Sansone 5 mile fat burning walk video. My weight lifting routine lasts 5 minutes and I do 5 minutes on the ab roller. My struggle is I am afraid I will keep gaining if I don't count calories. I tend to overeat when I am not accountable for calories consumed, even though I am eating high protein, low carb foods...all south beach friendly. I want to relax and stop thinking about EVERYTHING I eat. I want to eat to live...not live to eat. I would love to have someone to share recipes with, offer encouragement, and try to support me in my efforts not to count calories. I know if I gain one more pound, I will start counting again. I think 110 is probably not too overweight, but I was soooo much more confident and happy when I weighed between 100 and 105. Shelly

I dont know, I dont really have too much to add here. But maybe you shouldnt worry so much about counting calories but maybe watching portion control?? That is if you say you already eat all the right SB foods then maybe its amounts of certain things maybe to watch not count the calories so much?

Just be careful, I dont know the proposed weight for your height. But I wouldnt let it worry and control me as much as it sounds like you are struggling with that. I just did a random search to look up what the weight of one that is 5'3 should weigh and it sounds like you are significantly lower than that. Of course the numbers depend on if you have a small , medium or large frame. But best I know to tell you would be to not count the calories and just know and make sure you are eating right based on the SBD. If you do that and are in the range of what you should weigh, id be content with that. You dont want to get too thin... If you have a particular problem area like tummy or thighs you want to see different dont worry so much maybe on the calorie counting and pounds to melt away but maybe exercise geared toward that spacific area?

Not sure what else to tell you. I would just worry that you might be too concerned with loosing more weight or gainning a few when it sounds like you are in good shape as it is. You dont want to worry and let it control you so much that you develop an eating disorder.

Anyone else have anything to add? Im not sure what else to say.

Also maybe talk to your doctor and get thier oppinion on it... main thing you want to stay at a healthy weight, not too much above or below either.

Good luck. :O)

I just want to thank you so much for responding. Your words were wise and most encouraging to me. I am having a wonderful day and appreciate your advice. I have eating a good breakfast and a good lunch. In the back of my head, I am counting, but I just say a prayer that I will not go there and I hope eventually this need to count will go away. Thank you.

110 pounds for your height is almost underweight. It's not even remotely close to overweight! Your BMI is 19.5. The BMI for a normal range of weight is between 18.5-24.9. The Beach is a healthy way of eating - it wasn't even designed as a weight loss program. I think you should relax and coast in Phase 3, but that is just my two cents - and worth as much. Four members of my family were either anorexic or bulimic and no matter how skinny they were they saw themselves as overweight. (Still do.)
They saw ME as the whale of the family. (Still do.)

Everyone has their own self-perceptions, but in my eyes you are doing great!! Thirty-five pounds is terrific!

Bless your heart! :O)

Im glad if what I had to say helped. Im fairly new to this diet, only been on it 2 months. Ive done well lost 29 pounds so far, but have much to loose. :O)

You just hang in there and give yourself permission not to fret too much about it. :O) ( Thats my problem with things sometimes, Im a worry wort ) and sometimes I need permission not to worry. You are doing fine and should feel good about yourself. I wish I could do that well.

And I will say a little prayer for you too, for help and a more peace of mind. :O)

God Bless!

Hi! It sounds like you're doing really well, but you might benefit at this point from talking to a real nutritionist/your doctor to ask them for their recommendation especially for you. I agree that you're DEFINITELY NOT overweight, but if it is really hard and you keep going up and down, and you're really worried about it, they should be able to give you a more personalized diet plan so that you can stay exactly where you want to be. Keep up the

Keep up the awesomeness!!
