Excited to be starting Phase 2 today

Ok .... I was really good on Phase 1 for two weeks. I had zero: fruit, chocolate, bread, pasta, potatoes. I DID have 9oz glass of red wine (bday celebration) and an Apple Martini 1 week after that. But other than that I have been right on track. Today I am S L O W L Y transitioning to Phase 2. I avoided any additional carbs at breakfast - because after heeding all the advice in the message boards - it seemed like the safeset route. So. Here I am. 1:30. Cup of black coffee. 6 blueberry and 8 almonds. I just need to say it...... THESE ARE THE MOST AMAZING BLUEBERRIES I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY WHOLE LIFE!!!! And I've noticed how sweet almonds are as well. It is just so amazing to me how wonderfully flavorful and sweet and amazing foods taste when you cut out all the processed stuff from your diet!!! Yummmmmmm

That's so true! Foods taste better when they're not competing with a lot of overly flavor-enhanced and over-sweetened stuff. And the flavors are very complex and interesting, compared with the monotone taste of junk food.

Well... For some reason, the reply that I thought I posted to your topic didn't make it to the message board. That's the problem when you have an old man using new technology!!!

We had much the same experience with foods tasting WONDERFUL! The first time I noticed it was when I added a banana to my breakfast at the start of P2. WOW! Flavor was out-of-sight! I chewed it until it was totally mush... Softer than baby food!... Didn't want to swallow it because then the flavor would be gone! I still really enjoy my bananas, though not at much as that very first one. Not eating all that junk seems to really improve our taste buds. Mrs. Geo wants me to pick up some Blueberries when I next go to the store. They sound wonderful! Isn't it something that were excited about the taste of fruit!!!

One of the great benefits of SBD is really enjoying the taste of real food. :)

Thought I'd add an update since I'm in the middle of week 3 - phase 2. LOVING Phase 2. For lots of different reasons. I think one is ... the assumption or yearning or anticipating the loss of a lot of weight quickly (which we all experience at some level in Phase 1 - some more than others) is gone. (The feeling I was failing because I DID NOT lose 8-15 lbs on Phase 1, more like 6). I fully anticipate a 0-2 lb loss per week and I'm good with that. And to just keep it slow and steady.

The exciting thing for me is I'm averaging a 1.5-2lb loss per week - AND - eating amazing flavorful foods - AND - feeling great!!! I'm learning portion control ... and as Geo has said before - learning to stop eating and wait to see if I'm full before eating too much.

I'm learning so much about myself as far as my body - emotional eating - and that my will power is a lot stronger than I had thought it would be.

Love reading all the stories - going back to 2006!!! Love having this forum. Hoping my journey will encourage someone to make this life change as so many other stories have encouraged me!

Happily skipping down the road in Phase 2. :)
